Whoa! I had my brother (who speaks Japanese) listen to when kishi talks in the video. One thing he says is that the movie will start with a scene where Naruto and Iruka are in the ramen shop. He also talks about how excited he was to work on this movie because he could do things that aren't possible in the regular anime. He also says his favorite part was exploring the relationship between Naruto and his parents. He also said we'll see his parents die again.

I figured as much, the snippet with Kushina taking the bullet for him was just a bit too poignant...

That's just cruel - Not only is it going to be heartbreaking for the fans to watch these two die again, how much is it going to screw Naruto up to get a glimpse of a happy life with his parents only to see them die again?

He will turn into a Super Ninja. >:O
If this is true, then I believe this is why Sakura is there, to give him comfort.

probably not too much since it is not real but an illusion created by Tobi, not that it is not going to hurt him though, but Sakura will be there to help him through it

1) If what Kishi said is true, then that means Tobi created the world just to make Naruto feel vulnerable. It could explain the meaning of "love makes you feel weak." Perhaps when Minato and Kushina does die, then Naruto will be broken. Sakura will be the weakness to Tobi's plan. By the end, Naruto wears the 4th robe to honor his parents, which connects to his "child will surpass his/her parents"
2) Naruto probably catch on that Tobi tries to kill his parents and then kill him, so he will be defeated and extraction will be complete. Therefore, Naruto will fight Tobi head on, as Minato might get upset that he's doing something suicidal, hence the line "Parents must protect their child". So Naruto will say his line from the trailer, "My friend, my family, the bonds. I will protect them!" So, this is where Naruto trying his best to save his bonds.
It's really vague that trailer, or rather, perhaps misleading. I actually wish that trailer wasn't the last, because I don't know what's going to happen. I just know this is about Naruto getting his parental love. But what would that lead to other scenarios? Sakura's role? What? WHAT?

I imagine that's exactly what she'll try to do after that happens - having gone through the illusion with him, having felt how real it felt, having (most likely) met the genjutsu Minato and Kushina herself, she will be in the best position to offer Naruto some comfort afterwards. He won't have to explain things to her, she will just understand (at least on some level) what he is feeling and going through.
It doesn't matter if its not real - it seems real to Naruto. He's met his parents before, fleetingly, and these illusions seem real to him. They look and act like his parents did. Of course seeing the image of his parents die is going to hurt a lot.
I fully agree about Sakura though.

Both the scenarios sound plausible, though as others have stated, Naruto is facing the AU!Naruto while wearing the Hokage robes - but then that's simply Tobi disguised to the best of my understanding. @_@
I think Sakura's role will be overcoming whatever she's presented with in this world (over the top romantic Sasuke, but recognition as a hero - here, she's contributed; her feelings of inadequacy, of not doing enough, could be targeted here as well), and helping Naruto to escape from the jutsu, not just on a intellectual level (i.e. knowing the jutsu and how to get around it), but emotionally as well (as its been stated that Naruto is the one that has a hard time wanting to leave the world, that he tries to pick up in this life). Sakura will be there to get him to see reason, that this is not reality no matter how tempting having his parents back are for him. I imagine that she'll also be there for the inevitable fallout after returning back to the real world.

Here's another scenario:
Supposedly when Kushina got hurt (trailer), it happens in the middle of the movie. Let's say she's dead. Minato and Naruto will be upset and then Naruto leaves because he remember that this is a illusion. Sakura might be heading to bed, feeling upset to see Naruto losing his mother (again). She could have been with him in a mission, hence the script from act 3, "Please take care of Sakura-chan!" Perhaps this is when Naruto go to see her, and maybe a small comedy moment (if anyone remember her sleep clothes), just to light up the mood. Then they go to the mountain and talk in order for Naruto to move on (think as Jiraiya death). NaruSaku moment, he moves on, and then the following day, it was time for him and her to get out. Then chaos break loose, lasted till night. Still not sure where Naruto get the robes, but he wears it and then the final battle commence. Oh, and Sakura is in action. Shannaro!
Look at that. I just notice. Two characters with catch phrases. Surely they got to be together to make the ultimate duo of love/comedy. But I'm losing myself here. The possibility is endless. I hope a new info shows up tomorrow.
And I still love your sig. I can't believe the studio made it subtle. Subtle as the latest OVA.

It will have just the opposite effect that Madara thought would happen, it will only make Naruto stronger- just as even through he witnessed their deaths via Kushina's flashback, he emerged stronger just for having the bond. Tobi Madara doesn't truly understand bonds, he only knows them on a surface level, that was reflected in the story he told of his life and his prideful but shallow connection to the Uchiha clan.
A bit off topic, but out of mild curiosity and for a bit of fun I did a tarot layout tonight on narusaku- when would it begin to come to full fruition and would Road to Ninja play a role in this, and what would Naruto and Sakura's roles be at the end of the manga?
Naruto and Sakura representative cards for the full layout- Sakura- The Queen of the Thrones of Flame, Naruto- Lord of Happiness. Card representing their union has the meaning- Faithfulness, fertility, joy, love.
Card layout pointed toward Road to Ninja being the start of the full fruition of narusaku, and a powerful adult woman associated with an image of fertility would would play a crucial role (sounds like Kushina to me) as would the "Lord of Lightning, King of the spirit of fire" (sounds like Minato to me)- a well liked man with an engaging temperament, who's swift actions tend to make sense in hindsight
At some point shortly after that (I assume meaning back in the manga) a woman of mystic wisdom and power will reveal some secret knowledge that helps them in some way (sounds like Tsunade), other female characters will also play positive support roles, then what can only be interpreted as the people of Konoha will enthusiastically back Naruto to become Hokage and marriage and family for Naruto and Sakura too, success through their hard work, strength of will and wisdom gained.
Final outcome- Good fortune, they become people of strong sympathy and kind hearts. Cards that represent Naruto and Sakura at the end of the manga- Naruto- The Magnus of Power- Mastery of the material world, creative action, self discipline and a willingness to take risks, the power to initiate, communication and wit. Sakura- Rose of the Palace of Fire- warmhearted and a high achiever. A trustworthy, reliable person, with an inborn desire to bring happiness, excitement and light to those around, a messenger of good news and wit. A person who is faithful in service to superiors.
And finally, what they achieve together at the end of the manga- Dreams that turn into reality. Successful ventures launched, inspiration and original ideas. Strength coming from successful enterprise due to the courage of one's convictions. Plans and ventures that are moving ahead.
It's just a tarot reading, but it just read so true sounding I wanted to share it with you all.

Haruno, Sakura means cherry blossoms in spring.
spring is oft associated with fertility.
Sakura is a powerful young woman, and considered an adult in the ninja world.
and she has always played a crucial role in Narutos life and story.
food for thought.

I REALLY like your theory of Sakura's role in this movie. I hope this theory turns out true, at least in some capacity.
Yes, I'm pretty sure many Narusaku fans have notice that too. I'm sure the author just decided to give those two characters for no reason, and that it has nothing to do with that they have similar personalities.
That actually reminds me of the Heaven and Earth poem they had in the anime, how if you have Heaven (mind/wisdom) and Earth (body/strength) together you'll be unstoppable.

- Naruto and Sakura: yellow and pink
- Minato and Kushina: yellow and red
- Mebuki and Kizashi: yellow and dark pink
It's like each couple is trying to keep up with the same color theme.

Now for the part with Sakura. I believe that Tobi will give Sakura what she wanted as a kid, which of course was Sasuke. The reason he is giving her Sasuke is to show her, that she can have what she wanted if she convinces Naruto to give up, if she convinces Naruto to stop fighting. If she betrays Naruto she can have what she wanted. Tobi is trying to make Sakura betray Naruto. Now in the end Sakura realizes that even though she wanted Sasuke as a kid, that's not what she wants now, she wants Naruto. This is basically to show us that no matter what Sakura will never betray Naruto. Sakura will always stand by Naruto's side.

Which I've told you - time and time again - is dangerous! There will never be consensus, son, among those you have helped to ascend. They will all differ in their views of what it means to be free. The peace you so desperately seek does not exist.
These men are united now by a common cause. But when this battle is finished they will fall to fighting amongst themselves about how best to ensure control. In time it will lead to war. You will see.
