They're probably betting on the casual fans. 

 

Meanwhile they'll keep baiting the NS, SNS, SK and dsigruntled SS fans via fillers, merchandise and just pure fanservice. 

I don't know how the casual fans can overlook at the problems the ending and the movie have created, but I guess the casuals and NH/SS is their best bet now.

 

The thing I don't understand is why SP would even market towards any other part of the fandom anymore since it's essentially a waste of time and money. If they were smart, though they aren't smart for coming up with this ending, they would spend their time on the canon couples instead. If SP thinks they're going to win back any NS, SK, or SNS fan with how they treated them then they're sorely mistaken.

Nah, if I were Kishi SP wouldn't be the animation studio to begin with and we'd get the ending this series deserved.

There are a lot of animation studios that would have been a better option.

 

Madhouse would be a good choice I think. Production I.G.or A-1 Pictures would be also preferrable to SP. I'd even go with Toei if I had to over SP. Really just about anything is better than SP at this point.

They are also probably aware of the status of the fandom, how much the last was hated and everything else, so right now I think they are trying to damage control in hopes the disgruntled part of the fandom forgets how the series turned out somehow

There are a lot of animation studios that would have been a better option.

Just look at the screw up SP made with Tokyo Ghoul season 1 and LoK season 2 and their bleach filler fanfare which led to the cancellation of the anime series.

I wonder sometimes how this studio managed to keep its  credibility

That's interesting. I hadn't heard that the Hinata merchandise is failing. I know she's not an incredibly popular character in Japan, but I thought it would do better than that. If I was working at SP and the decision was made to do the NH/SS ending then I'd say go with the SS movie to make more money, but SP is so fixated on Hinata it's surreal.

 

What SP needs to do is clear house and hire a whole new staff if they want their credibility back.

I don't see any NS, SNS, SK or netural fans continuing to support the series. I'm sure some will continue to support it, but most probably won't. I'm sure that even some casual fans will drop the series, but I think some of them don't really care. They're perfectly happy as long as they get more Naruto. 

 

I also don't understand why SP continues to try to appeal to the NS and SNS fandoms. It's probably just to try and squeeze as much money of out of the fans as they possibly can. It could also mean that the new direction they've taken is failing, but we'll have to wait some time to see if that's really the case.

No way am I saying a SS movie would be better, but from a business standpoint SS makes far more sense than NH since it's the most popular hetero pairing in Japan. All I'm saying is SP is failing in both the storytelling and business side of things.

Popularity don't mean anythnig, SS - one toxic kitten in this series. You see, that's why Kishomoto failed, he based his ending on "popularity".

YES, FAIL SP, FAIL, BE DONE IN BY THE TRUE FANS!!!   I will eat popcorn and enjoy their fall from an anime studio to nothing *runs back to watching dbz, naruto left in the dust* btw if you guys haven't heard of steven universe its a pretty interesting cartoon, its full of retro references and even anime references, like dubs and subs, etc, sometimes the fighting looks slightly like dbz to me xD its like adventure time where it has a plot but its hidden, I've never watched adventure time but I like steven universe so far, took some getting used to with how the characters look xD

I agree they based it all off popularity, but I don't know why they put so much emphasis on the pairing that is only really popular in the western part of the fandom. Whatever their reasoning was it clearly is not going according to their plan, and that much I'm glad for.

If YYH could beat Bleach in something, that's maybe villians, brothers was cool, but all others... Meh, it's shonen as it is, it's intresting, but not great at all. Last fight was skipped in manga, and only results of it was shown with little TS. 

Bleach ripped pretty much big part of it, but at least Bleach did it with quality. Though both MC of YYH and Ichigo have similarityes in their moves, - one punch (getsuga or soul gun) and inner beast in them with changing hair leght.

Well, I can't agree or disagree, since I don't read the manga.
But some people really like it.
I don't really like when a manga skip the final fight. Especially for shonen battle manga.
Well, the manga doesn't last long, only three years, but the anime is truly hit.

Yeah, the final form truly give you long black hair ^^.
