We don't really know exactly what he views as "the antiquated system that needs to be extinguished". Is it the power balance of bijuus stretched over the countries restraining each other? Or could it be the bijuus potential of making people bring them all together to create the Juubi and take control of the world? Is it the shinobi villages using the bijuus for war that is the problem? 

 

Whether it is necessary to kill the Kyuubi or not, depends on what he sees as the antiquated system and what he needs to do in order to destroy it. 

 

I think he just generally views the bijuu as a reason for all the bad things that have happened and feels like the world will be better off without them.  I mean he does have a point in a way.

I found it weird how Katsuyu said her powers depend on Tsunades, so maybe you don't enter a contract with all slugs but just one. 

I was thinking that the size of Katsuyu depends on how strong the summoner is. The stronger the summoner, the bigger she will be ? Does that make any sense ?

I think there is one huge giant slug, which is Katsuyu, that breaks off into smaller Katsuyus.

 

I am also interested in why Sakura had to lie? Why and what does she have to hide of Sai? It actually makes me skeptical...I don't know any reason why she would. Are there any thoughts to this?

I think Obito won't be able to bring himself to kill off Kakashi.  Kind of proving what kakashi said about the old him still being somewhere inside.

Does anybody know why Shikamaru looked over at Sakura in the page? What was he seeing that made him tell Ino it was nothing?

Shoot...I didnt notice shikamaru listening in on sakura and sais conversation. ....we'll just have to wait and see although I hate waiting.

This is a topic that has been discussed with many of the characters we see.

What defines evil? Keep in mind if we are going to apply logic to Sasuke we have to apply it to other characters as well including that of other villains. Does doing bad deeds make someone a villain? For Sasuke, I see a lot of people handwave a lot of Sasuke's crimes saying that there are some technicalities that make it not an evil act. Some say that killing Danzou is not that bad cause he was also an evil man. Is attempted murder evil? Seeing how he attempted to kill two girls who cared about him (although some claim self-defense cause Sakura tried to stab him) and almost succeeding with one of them. Seflishness? Perhaps.
 

If that's the case why is Obito evil then? He wanted to control humanity, yes, but in the long run it would prevent war entirely. If everyone gets their heaven, then no one suffers ever again and everyone agrees to get along. He also just wanted Rin. Aren't these good things?

Is Madara Evil? We have no idea his intentions. We think it was to do the infinite Tsukuyomi, but now I am not so sure since he is willing to let the Ten-Tails just go. Is Orochimaru evil? He seemed to want immortality and knowledge and didn't care for human life to achieve his goal.

Sure, being a psychopath doesn't necessarily mean being evil, but they can be. Look at the Joker. It is all about intent and why you do what you do. What makes him evil is that he does things for selfish desires and not care who gets in his way. He also sometimes seeks out murder for the sake of revenge, which I feel is an ultimate evil. He does what benefits him, not what benefits others. This is also different from an assassin or a mercenary:

As the sniper from TF2 said: "I am not a crazed Gunmen dad, I am an assassin. Well the difference being one's a job and other's mental sickness."

I think what also defines them is standards. Even an assassin has standards, evil people do not. Everyone is fair game.

So if Sasuke is not evil, then what is he? Well, he is definitely not a good person that's for sure. At best, Sasuke is nothing more than an opposition to Naruto and Sakura. Same way I could say Obito is not evil, just an opposition.

The only person I can see as evil....was Orochimaru seeing how he did what he did for immortality and knowledge. Madara might be evil too seeing depending on his motives. Akatsuki might be evil too in most cases with only Itachi being the "good guy." Even Nagato wasn't that evil seeing how he just wanted to make a better world.

I do find it a little irksome that so many handwave Sasuke from being labeled "evil," but are so willing to label Obito as evil even though I could argue he is also a victim of circumstance like they claim for Sasuke.

Again, I believe this story could have benefited so much if Obito and Sasuke switched places with Sasuke joining Madara to change the world and Obito searching for a reason to live with getting revenge on the Mist for killing Rin and occasionally doing stuff to get back what he felt was revenge.

My only thought is that she'll have a role with Sasuke with him and his plan like talking to him or something. Not do I mean that she's a part of his plan. Plus, she just doesn't want to show being skeptical and sad to Sai.

i doubt it's anything more than Sakura trying to convince herself and failing really badly at it.

FINALLY! PSYCHO SASUKE IS BACK!!!

But damn, I wanted to see Sasuke reveal his true intentions after we had some team 7 goodies. Oh well, knew this was coming. 

 

The last scene was really depressing and emotional. We have two ex-best friends brutally stabbing each other. Even though I was never a fan of Kakashi, he deserves a much better death than being stabbed by his most important person. Especially, when this said person has made Kakashi who he is today. 

 

And Sakura. This goes to show that the Sakura in 634 could be paralleled to Tsunade in Part 1. In Part 1, Tsunade sided with Orochimaru in hopes of getting her loved ones back. She was truly happy that she was crying. But then she realized how stupid she was and decided to face Orochimaru with an expressionless face(Like Sakura in the last page in 634).

I thought this was a good chapter, the Sasuke's intentions stuff is keeping me on the edge of my seat actually.

 

I thought that Suigetsu's and Karin's bickering went a little long though, and gosh...Karin is still infatuated.  "It felt good.."..really?

 

It's good that Tsunade's healed, I always thought she wouldn't die because she would have had some type of death scene.  And maybe she'll get to see Sakura taking over her job!

 

Naruto and Sasuke's disagreement about the Bijuus...agh the tension.  It seems like Sasuke wants more than just to eliminate the ten tails, he wants to kill the individual beasts locked inside.  It'll be interesting to see where that goes.  I wonder how that's going to work when Naruto technically hosts a Bijuu....hmm.

 

And the return of Sakura's fake smile!  I honestly felt bad when I saw that panel..she looked almost like a mix between depressed and...well...crazed maybe?  I don't know..she reminded me of Gin from Bleach.  Nonetheless, it means that she doesn't trust Sasuke, along with Shikamaru, it seems.  And Naruto's getting there as well I think. 

 

And oh gosh...Kakashi! No, I hope its a Genjutsu! And I wonder if Minato will play a role in the Obito/Kakashi thing.  I'd really like to see Minato find out that it was Obito that had unleashed Kurama on the village, killed him and his wife, and made Naruto's life a living hell for years.  That would be...interesting.

I like how sometimes we philosophical in a manga that I doubt at times that was the message the story was probably trying to tell. Though to be fair, I do believe Kishi wants us to question what is good and evil, so I guess this discussion makes in sense in a Naruto thread.

 

On the bolded part, I actually thought that did happen. Wasn't Obito the one who took control of the leader of Mist, and possibly was the reason of why they kill certain people of their clan. My memory is actually pretty hazy on the font, however I don't think it was ever brought up, or confirmed. Just a theory thrown around here, but it sounded like it would make sense of the context of the series and the character.

Thanks for the detailed reply, James I think Sasuke will mirror Danzo. I'm not sure if Danzo's evil, but I hate him anyway.

 

Maybe Naruto doesn't notice Sasuke's intentions because his intentions are good, but his methods are not. The evil Naruto senses is not their actions, it's the darkness in their soul. (Though the darkness does reflect the thoughts and actions)

 

Sasuke can still very well be evil, Kishi still draws Sasuke with shadows all over his face after all.

 

I am just trying to find a reason as to why Naruto doesn't suspect him, because his face tells me he doesn't. He looks like a question mark.
