Well, their welcome back program isn't functioning yet. I recommend Infamous for one of the games. I'm getting LBP and super stardust since I already have dead nation and infamous. I'll just have my bro get wipeout.

I still can't get in the PSN store. Out of the five games,
* LittleBigPlanet
* inFamous
* Wipeout HD/Fury
* Super Stardust HD
* Dead Nation

which two should I get? I haven't played all 5 games.

Well personally, I'm getting InFamous and Dead Nation. I'd rather buy a new copy of LittleBigPlanet 2 than get a free copy of the first game.

Wipeout and SS HD are okay games but I never spent much time on either.

Yeah, Store's a luck-based venture. Sometimes I get in, sometimes I don't. Best get all the ones you're gonna download first before exiting if you enter the first time.

I am a computer programmer. What often happens, particularly at big companies like this, is several of their programmers will stumble across a bug, or a security fault in the software. They'll take it to management and say "Hey, we found this potential problem, can we take a few days to fix it?" The managment types will look at it and say "How is this going to impress the shareholders, or sell more product? No, don't waste time on that, you should be working on NEW features instead."

Things that SHOULD be fixed very often aren't, because they don't visibly 'add value' to the product. Preventing a buffer overflow exploit is boring. Adding NetFlix support, now THAT is something they can make money off of.

Realistically, they probably knew about the possibility of this attack months ago. They are probably also currently aware of dozens of others that hackers haven't yet found. There are very few true 'zero-day' hacks, where the company is caught completely unaware. This vulnerability may have been remote, and hard to find. Sony took a gamble that it wouldn't become a problem before they fixed it, as I am sure they have successfully done countless times before. They lost this time.

To prevent things like this from happening, there has to be a fundamental shift in the business model of these companies. Maintenence and security of existing products needs to be made a number one priority. These companies owe it to their customers to show that "The future money you MAY give us, is not more important than the money you have ALREADY given us." Lets hope this incident makes an impact on the entire industry at least.

Sony is at fault, no doubt, but its cause and effect. This happened because Sony took action Geohot, who was using the other OS to jailbreak PS3 and lead to pirating. Not the ridiculous Robin Hood like cause they claim it to be. Its an attempt at rebellion. Well if thats what they reality want to do, then they ought to go outside, into the real world and do something. OH WAIT, they did try but hardly anybody showed up. Probably couldn't make the time to pause their torrented copy of V for Vendetta, and make the hike up the stairs of their parents' basements to the nearest Sony store. They learned quickly what their internet bravado amounts to. Nothing. They are much better suited to hide behind a computer screen and try to turn this on Sony. And their are plenty of tools who will do just that, because they're morons. Anyone who sympathises with that quote is an idiot. They aren't helping us, I never asked for them to try and steal my info.

Guys, Sony put it in their PS Blog that the Welcome Back stuff is up. 'Sides, they already mentioned when Store went up that the Welcome Back program was still undergoing some final tune-ups. Still kittening buggy as hell....don't even know if I got my damn free games.

Another Update: Here's how you get it if it bugs out on you after downloading the "Free PS3/PSP Game1/2"

account management>transaction management>services list>SCEA Promotions to download the games.
