Hi firegirl.

Sakura showed her selfless side in part 1 too, interestingly enough most the time it was directed toward Naruto. Even way back in chapter 5 during the bell test, when she thought Kakashi was intending on killing Naruto she breaks cover and shouts for Naruto to run away in hopes her act would distract Kakashi and Naruto could flee. In her mind she's endangering her own life but she acts without hesitation. We also see her blushing at Naruto's bravery in taking on Kakashi so boldly, Kishimoto hinting as early as this that Sakura's romantic feelings were already starting to be subconsciously engaged by Naruto. (A point the first databook reinforces in Sakura's character commentary) And in chapter 13 Sakura clutches her hand over her heart and wonders why she's having these feelings about Naruto. Then in the Chunin exams you have several examples of Sakura's compassion and selflessness directed toward Naruto. The first when they walk into the room where the written exam is to take place. Sakura starts to raise her hand to knock them out of the exam, just so Naruto's dream of someday being Hokage has a chance. She doesn't think for a second of how Sasuke might react to her choice, or any consequences for herself, it's only Naruto emotional well being and his dream that are in her thoughts.

i know she was starting to show affection torwds naruto thooughout of part 1 she was just too fixated over sasuke but i know she cares, also what do you think about both sakura confessions. i find it intresting that no one in the fandom sees their is such a difrence between them?

Well on different "fandom" interpretations.for SS- Sakura' Confession to Sasuke , is GENUINE, even it is obvious, desperation and selfishness are intact and for Naruto it is pure LIES

You shouldn't be so negative. Let's think about all the positives in those relationships.

SasuSaku
Sakura gets: emo; yet more emo; angst; darkness; depression; when Sasuke wants her to be barefoot & pregnant in the kitchen (instead of on ninja missions), if the oven breaks down, Sasuke can get it working (for both fire AND electric ranges)

Sasuke gets: someone he thinks of as inferior; to say "you are annoying"; someone who will be crying all the time, just because he committed a few more crimes; to say "I didn't save you from Gaara, that was Naruto"

NaruHina
Hinata gets: someone who makes her more self confident... well, actually, she doesn't need Naruto for her self-confidence anymore, now that she has it, but I'm sure it would be nice to have around anyways; someone who "likes people who are like you", which will make her feel unique, except for all the other people who are like her; someone she considers a failure, but a confident one

Naruto gets: chirp chirp chirp chirp
someone who stalked him while knowing very little about him; someone who is cute, because obviously there are no other cute girls in the manga, and superficial looks are the basis of a deep, meaningful relationship; someone who faints or hides whenever he is in a good mood; someone who will freak out if he bruises his knee or gets a papercut, because she doesn't have faith in his toughness

That looks bad for our favorite couple. Compared to all that, I can see the padded room and binky already.

Either one gets someone who:
finds the other physically attractive; has similar sense of humor/playfulness; enjoys spending free time together; has a similar sense of excitement at a challenge (Kakashi bell test after the time skip comes to mind); willing puts the other's needs ahead of their own; wants them to succeed (and not just overcome failure *cough*Hinata); will be a good influence for bad behavior (stopping Naruto's perviness, stopping Sakura from excessive weepiness); Sai has recognized as being in love with the other person, without any death threats involved (*cough*Sasuke)

There is also the harmful secret hiding (in order to spare the other person from hurt feelings), but not every relationship is perfect. And Kishi is doing that to prolong the drama.

(edit: Just read Jenskott's response, which came a minute after mine. Kind of eerie how we hit many of the same points, despite not talking to each other and using different ways to respond.)

This is so... dumb it defies belief.

SasuSaku never was positive for Sasuke. He never healed or became better person or endeavoured becoming better person because Sakura was in love with him.

SasuSaku never was positive for Sakura. She actively held back because she didn't want being far from him (bell test) or because she was afraid he would hate her (tree-climbing training). She surpressed her true personality because she thought Sasuke would hate her true self, and pretended being a different person. She all but groveled in front of him, pampered his ego in order to gain his approval and was afraid of talking him back. She blinded himself to his flaws and faults, and they terrified her when she saw them. She broke up with her best friend because she was in love with Sasuke (it wasn't so simple like all that because Sakura also felt she needed competing with Ino, but I digress). And in a nutshell, her crush led her to commit a lot of inmature acts her bashers use like an excuse for hating her.

SasuSaku positive for both sides? Don't make me laughing.

NaruHina isn't positive for Naruto. Hinata's crush has got no positive effects whatsoever for him. It has never done anything for him. And he barely acknowledges she exists.

NaruHina isn't positive for Hinata. Her crush is a side-effect of her admiration. And whereas her admiration influenced her positively, her crush didn't. Her admiration filled her with a desire for striving. Her crush erased every thought no related to Naruto from her mind.

NaruSaku is positive for both sides. We can see their relationship has helped them to grow up and mature and become better persons. Naruto is happier with Sakura and tries being a better person for her. Sakura has became a better, more mature woman cause Naruto and his influence.

NaruSaku puts Sakura in a padded room with a binky on her mouth? Don't make me laughing. That is what she did to herself when she was trying winning Sasuke over. She repressed her true self (What do you think Inner Sakura was? It wasn't another personality. It was what Sakura was really thinking but didn't dare to tell aloud). Have I to list again the instances where she repressed herself, pretended being another person or was frightened of talking her mind when Sasuke was around?

She never did that with Naruto. She could be herself around him. And Naruto loved her true self, despite of and because all her good and bad parts.

First I was surprise, they believe that their respective pairings are POSITIVE.
Second, I can't believe the "Padded Room and Binky"- a fan of NH/SS use for associating it for NS
Anyhow, I am still aware that in any worst case scenario Kishi can push the "reset button", and we will have unresolved pairings.

i hate that confession sakura made to sasuke it was so bad i mean willing to go with him what r they thinking. they should really see that sasuke brings out the worst in sakura. that confession was so pitiful. and naruhina confession also wasnt really good they really should try to read the mange as awhole

i hop someonee reply to what i wrote because i did write that the confession to emoboy was more pitiful than heartfelt, it really a confession at all she didnt say anythig positive about sasuke and why she loved him. with naruto she atually did and with her facial expresion when speeking about how he makes her feel at peice was guinus and she was blushing. i really dont know eben people who dont care about paring are blind to see it. its not america people they dont have to give a full blown kiss to show their together. romance in japan is way more settle and people are tend to be more fourmal with people they like.

but i would love of kiss but that i think for all fandoms is in fanfiction naruto is not a shoujo although its feels like its starting to become one

yeah she didnt she just cried and said to sasuke kun "i love you i cant even stande it" to me that was something that just came out of the blue while she was crying. also dont leave me kitten was also that made me upset in this confession i really think she is atually cofused like she really wasent ready to confece to sasuke. if u look closly at facial expersion you can see its not really that sincer its more of wanting someting to just stay with u like a toy, it heartfelt if you look very closly at the panles remember sasuke bring the worse out of sakura and the desprete.

When it comes to Sakura's professing her feelings to Sasuke, we can assume, like with Hinata when Naruto was captured by Pain that it was out of desperation really. I think she also had HOPED deep down perhaps it'd sway Sasuke, even if she knew the real him enough to know it might not even matter in the least. And her tears came from the fact of Sasuke wanting to drift apart from her and the team as a whole too, not just her alone.

With her confession to Naruto, it may not seem like she was honest, due to her not wanting to break his heart when he found out about the rest of the Leaf 11 deciding to kill Sasuke, but she was being rather heartfelt deep down, considering how her feelings for Naruto have matured.

I agree too. And I already said it was a hint of desperation in Hinata's confession to Naruto really. Since she basically had rushed to her death, even if she managed to live.

Guys i got another post. just a random debate I wanted to share.

The fact remains that sakura tried to use naruto's feelings for her against him. By pretending to be in love with him, she felt she might be able to convince him that sasuke no longer meant anything to her and by so doing, naruto will be relieved of the promise.

But of course, naruto was too smart for her bullsh**. Bless him.

Simply put, sakura cares so much about naruto's feelings and she won't hesitate to lie to him if that would make him feel better....just like in the sai/yamato arc. From recent revelations and the the interview, it's obvious that Sakura has no real romantic feelings for naruto and that makes that chat she had with naruto not a confession.

The atmosphere of the fake confession was suspicious with sakura giving fake smiles and everybody making wtf/bullsh** faces, naruto not believing her, sakura lashind out and being haughty to wards naruto when he did not buy her crap, sai staying behind to reveal sakura's true feelings, and lastly, we have kishimoto himself confirming sakura was being haughty towards naruto and hinting that she still loves sasuke.

Waiting for sakura to say her own feelings is just delaying the inevitable to me. But like i always say, it would be interesting to see how ns can work with all this kitten it has found itself in.

Ya wanna know what I think, Pinky? It's true Sakura's confession came out false, but her feelings seem to be genuine, considering that she's not just planning to kill Sasuke just because of the others, or to save Sasuke alone. It's also the fact she wants to protect Naruto because of her feelings for him, and she had even said that to Naruto, even if Naruto had said it was an excuse, when we all know it wasn't.

After all, it's true that her feelings seem to be genuine, given she wanted to learn Tenzo/Yamato's sealing Jutsu to help Naruto, and how she broke down feeling like all she did for him was too small, but as we saw, Tenzo/Yamato made it clear that the strength of how Sakura feels for Naruto is what counts. Besides her feelings for Sasuke, whatever they may be, we know she loves Naruto a lot, romantically or not. She's been willing to rid him of his burden of trying to save Sasuke several times; after seeing him hurt when he failed, and feeling like she got him hurt by making him do the promise, or rushing at him when he was in his Four-Tails state and berserking.

That's what some fans fail to see; how Sakura has changed so much in regards to Naruto. After all, even if she may still love Sasuke, she's shown how she loves Naruto too. I mean, to worry for him anbd cry for him when learning the fate of a Jinchuriki who has their Biju removed from them, being in such pain at seeing how far Naruto was willing to go to keep his promise to her when she saw him go into his Four-Tails cloak, and even her worried that Naruto might become possessed by revenge when he said he'd avenge Jiraiya sometime after his death.

Now if that isn't love, platonic or romatnic, I dunno what love is is!!

its obvius she wasent lying abot loveing naruto, in chapter 470 she seemed to be really hurt when she repeated "something like that" you see the expression clearly. the fact she cares about that one little line anruto said can actually prove she wasent lying. she only fake smile when saying she was over sasuke.

we know that shes over emoboy but we still dosent know if she lovees him

sai made a guess about what she was planing he dosent know what she thinking as states in chapter 470 "she is the only one who knows what she is feeling" with naruto he got the truth that naruto stilll loves sakura

and i agree with the tenzo/yamato speach it just obvious he was about to say love.

also look at interview the danm translatoer put in the "sakura love sasuke part" kishi didnt say anything about" love" if you read the neutral trans, its making me tick off the danm SS and NH are using the interview as proof that kishi wants SS

its ust like when hishou put the L in yamatos speach becaus eit was clear to him that he was about to say it even if the raws didnt have the L

I vote SasuSaku because Sakura's heart was really behind her words, but I don't consider either of her confessions to be 'selfish', as I think she was acting in both cases in the interest of the guy she was addressing: She desperately wanted Sasuke to stay and volunteered to go with him (and sacrifice her place in the village) only when he made it clear remaining in Konoha was not an option; she desperately wanted Naruto to drop his quest for Sasuke and return to the safety of Konoha, and she was again willing to sacrifice (this time her own happiness) for him.

Yes, Sakura appears to have used what she assumed were Naruto's feelings for her, but she felt she was doing it for his good, much as she feels that what she is planning to do when she meets Sasuke (and we don't know what that is, at this point) will be for his good, as well. She does love both of her guys, just in different ways, and while the way in which she 'confessed' to Naruto was clearly the wrong way to go, she was trying to do the right thing. She just couldn't bring herself to convincingly lie straight to his face (and I think she was surprised and peeved when he didn't fall down on his knees with hearts in his eyes and pledge to follow her anywhere, as that was what she was obviously expecting).

It seems they've missed the point completely. They pay far too much attention to everyone's expressions and ignore the fact that

-Naruto really was there for her, so she wasn't lying about that; It's not like she just made it up
-Sasuke is a criminal who is breaking her heart
-It's not even told from her point of view

Also, I'd like to point out that even after Sakura said she couldn't love a criminal, they accuse her of lying about her feelings for Naruto then turn around and totally support her lying about not loving Sasuke and expect her to go run off with him into the sunset even after telling Naruto she loves him and BLATANTLY STATING that it hurt to love him

They fail to understand the true purpose of her confession and only choose to see what's on the surface; Even though the surface itself is unclear. Basically, they're taking shots in the dark accusing Sakura of lying when they don't even get the rest of the story from her point of view. So, really, they've no right to accuse anyone of anything.

It's not that she lied, (which she didn't), it's what she was trying to do. She was trying to take the burden off of his shoulders. To me, that means alot more than telling someone you love them.
