The popularity polls never make any kittening sense whatsoever so I wouldn't get too hung up on them.
Here's another observation. If what Naruto has to tell to Hinata is related to that retconned memory, then surely it is not him reciprocating her feelings. If it were that, then why not have him refer to the actual confession. Sure he'd look like a kitten for waiting 3 years, but it would be much more believable than have his "romantic epiphany" tied to a retconned memory of when they were kids. That would be unbelievably contrived.
I hope none of you have forgotten that the narrator of the trailers at the very least hinted continued physical attraction from Naruto towards Sakura, and given how oddly that was handled, I find that telling.
Speaking of Sakura, when she's comforting/encouraging Hinata, the latter is blushing but seemingly despondent at the same time. Why? That seems to me like a very odd reaction to have to being encouraged to pursue your love interest - assuming that's what it is given how she's blushing. Is Sakura even encouraging Hinata to pursue Naruto like that? It would be inconsistent with her behaviour in the actual manga, wherein she's clearly not happy with the idea. That's why I think she and Naruto might be together already.
There's no way the manga will gloss over NaruSaku if it's going to end conclusively. We literally had the POAL revived 5 chapters ago. If it's addressed and they decide to remain friends, then sure, I'll be disgusted and disappointed, but at least we'll get some closure out of it. I don't think Naruto will fail to win Sakura's heart though. I fully expect at retread of al the poignant NaruSaku moments and further exposition much like with Naruto and Sasuke. Like, I wouldn't be surprised if we learn Sakura held back on her affections because of guilt or whatever.
Another observation. I think it's very obvious Kishimoto cares quite a lot about Minato and Kushina since they resemble himself and his wife and he wanted to include them more after he became a parent himself. I question why Kishimoto would have Minato note Sakura's resemblance to his wife in 631 - 127 chapters after Kushina was revealed to tell Naruto to find someone like her - if he was going to write NaruHina? The movie had to have long since been in production so why would he have done that in the manga? Why not Hinata? We actually got a reaction panel of her when Minato made the comparison, so why not her? Hell, why do it at all? Minato could have just thanked Sakura without inferring her relationship with his son or thinking she reminded him of his wife.
The more I think about where the actual manga is headed, the less and less sense it makes for NaruHina to be made canon in the, be it in the manga or a movie. I suppose that's why I don't feel the trailers and official information releases are so damning or cause for panic. The fact everything that is remotely NaruHina is still one sided and the fact we see so little of the Sakura plus the events and developments in the actual manga make me believe there is nothing to be worried about. I can't see this movie as anything other than a means of closure for NaruHina.
