I really needed this weird talk to distract me. There's these guys on youtube, I'm debating with and it's just ugh. I can tell these people anime watchers only, based on their arguments.

 

They're saying Hinata was the first female to encourage Naruto's dream, while Sakura just jumped on the Naruto support bandwagon, because he was the big hero, when facing Pain. I stated that Sakura was shown to support Naruto's dream way back in part one chunin exams and one guy replied back with, I don't remember that, so I gave him the chapter number to check it out. There has been no reply yet.

 

The other guy is saying things like Sakura always calls Sasuke's name first, whenever Naruto and Sasuke are in danger, Sakura always puts herself in danger while no other female has ever purposefully put herself in danger, Sakura is still in love with Sasuke, while Ino is over him, and that now that Sasuke stated he wants to be Hokage, Sakura's gonna do a 180 and support him instead of Naruto.

 

I wrote back a long reply disproving all of those claims of course, but it's just a bit bothersome to deal with anime only fans, seeing as all their assumptions and theories have been disproved in the manga. But, at least the one's I'm debating with are not just shouting out insults at Sakura with no clear proof and are not replying with "Ur so rong Lolololol", so it's not that bad.

Sakura haters just ignore EVERY GOOD THING she does and it's pathetic. And those guys you were talking to are not Naruto fans and they always give us false information.

I don't even bother with youtube debates. Most of the people I've seen on there, so far as debating goes, wouldn't know logic if it hit them upside the head. They tend to be people that argue with emotions rather than facts. I guess part of it is the way it's set up, you can't really have moderators around to keep peace like you can on forums.

 

Not a generalization of shippers of any sort. Just YouTube debaters.

Everyone has the right to like the pairing they want, but they claim "iT' s C A N0 n!!! !" and their arguments are based on OOC assumptions and bashing.

They get on my nerves but i can't help it and keep answering them ._.

The way some shippers argue, I get the impression that these people are children.  Ie,  "nuu, ___ drools and ___ rules!"

But often they are adults. ._.

 

That's why I hate shipping wars. People have nasty attitudes. And when you combine nasty attitudes with faulty logic (which exists from some on all sides)....I want to bang my head against the wall until I knock myself out.

I've actually had a few constructive shipping debates on Youtube ... it's really rare, but you get them once in a while. Just a week ago I was debating with SasuSaku fan who was very polite and seemed mature for a Youtuber. She did believe that 685 had a SS hint and that Sasuke will get everything, including Sakura in the end, because everyone forgives him and the old 'restore' his Clan argument again ...

 

Faulty logic, but I'd rather take that than bashing debates.

IMO, debate isn't about changing people's minds, anyway. Argument rarely changes people's minds....cuz usually when you step into an argument, you set your mind to defend your position and find more reasons to support it rather than honestly considering what the other person says.

At least, that's the case with me. 

And it's why I think debating with shippers is pointless. I prefer a pleasant discussion, if they're willing to have one, where we can each talk about what we like about our ships and no one is trying to convince the other. ....that's what I prefer when it comes to most subjects, really.

 

That said, debate has a place and I think debating in the past (mostly on serious subjects) helped me to learn logical arguments through puting them into practice.

In reading a book on tools for logical thinking later on, I discovered that I had already learned a few of the things it was talking about by the debating I had done.

That'll never happen.

It seems like NH/SS fans are still stuck on part 1 Sakura. NH fans are always talking about how selfish Sakura is. And SS fans are always saying Sakura loves Sasuke. Part 1 is long over people!
