I think that Kishi is delaying Sakura's role for the last arc, Naruto vs Sasuke. Sakura won't be sitting in the village and chatting while Naruto is out there confronting Sasuke. She won't fight Sasuke but she'll sure have something to do, like fighting against Team Taka or something, whatever that Kishi is planning for her.

Still waiting to see what Kishi palnned for her for the remaining of the manga.

Don't know what to say. Hell, she has the chance to fight powerful enemies, yet she's put in the back. I get she's a med nin but still... and the reason people also like more Hinata and hate Sakura is that Hinata stood-up to Pein though she was one-shotted. But Pein being one of the most powerful Akatsuki, the fact that Sakura beat Sasori means nothing to them.

And now, she's fighting on the frontlines for Naruto while Sakura is in the back.

People care for these things, visual impact is important. The emotional one, people don't care that much.

And it's sad to see that, to be honest.

It's the veins around her Byakugan. In the anime, her veins pop out when she uses Byakugan, but aren't as defined and jarring compared to the veins in the manga version, at least I think that's why she's more attractive in the anime than in the manga.

Hm, I haven't noticed that before...good catch.

I was thinking yesterday that Obito's love of Rin really was not like Naruto's love of Sakura at all....

Obito's love of Rin was more like Sakura's love of Sasuke and, ironically enough, Hinata's love of Naruto.

It is a love that is one-sided, one-directional, and involves worship and action with the assumption that the other person will love them back, but never giving that person a chance or choice to express that before they act.

Obito never told Rin, and he is building this "world" out of love for her, but really she probably would abhor it. But her choice in the matter is not ever considered by Obito nor included in his twisted version of love.

Similarly, Sakura's love of Sasuke pushed her to try to keep him in the village and love her, even though he wanted neither.

And Hinata's love of Naruto drove her to act against his wishes, running out to not stop Pain, nearly getting herself and forcing Naruto into 8-tails mode. None of those things Naruto wanted, and all Hinata could say to excuse her actions was that she loved him.

So I think Obito's idolizing of Rin is not like Naruto love for Sakura (or hers for him). In fact, I think one of Obito's steps to redemption (which we know is inevitable) will be to acknowledge that what he is doing was never what Rin would have wanted.

And by surpassing that unhealthy one-sided love, Naruto/Sakura will triumph over the parallels of Obito-->Rin and Hinata-->Naruto. Their relationship — a healthy love based on mutual respect and equal partnership — trumps the manipulative need-based loves around them.

I may be wrong though, last time I saw the anime was just to watch the epic mindscrewing that was the Pein vs. Kyuubi-Naruto fight. I haven't bothered to watch the anime after that.

Not because of the loopy animation, just had no desire to when the manga is so far ahead.

Still, the animation is usually smoother and more aesthetically pleasing than the somewhat more rough/ black and white manga.

@tricksie Agreed!

QUOTE (tricksie @ Jan 6 2013, 01:19 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
edit: And take heart — I don't see those covers as a lost potential. Rather they are a mark of just how important she is to the story. I still think she has a bigger part coming before everything is said and done. Hinata may have the spotlight right now, but if you go back to the beginnings of the manga, she is no where to be seen.

edit, edit: I know she's more involved with Dr. Who now, but I'm hoping Ciardha will drop back in pierodically as the manga progresses. She had so much knowledge about Japanese culture that it really brought the manga to a whole other level. She'd know about those weapons for sure.

I know Sakura will have a bigger role in the future and the thought of it really just makes me SO excited. The anticipation for that much higher for me than the big pairing revealing. I guess it's because I know her development is coming first and because I know it's coming soon

Oh my god. For a good way to show how a NaruxSaku relationship would work, watch Series 5-7.4 of Dr. Who.

The Rory and Amy Pond-Williams relationship is how a tsundere-girlxdevoted guy relationship works. Although Rory is a lot meeker than Naruto is, their relationship is inspiring to watch.

Some people hate for Sakura frustrates me sometimes. I get what they mean but they really push it when they bash her then, like always, I go up and defend her XD

You're right, Kishi should make visual impact more than emotional impact which I'm hoping he's preparing a huge role for her. Though, I want to see her fight more than talking or showing up more in panels.

I always go and defend her as well. But when people tell you that besides Sasori fight she hasn't done anything important, it's kinda frustrating.
Because she has done, however, as I say, no visual impact.
And it is, indeed, frustrating... sad.gif

While I do think Sakura will have a role in the future arc, I'm stl hoping for this arc and there is a chance for her. It's low, but we need to wait for upcoming chapters to determine whether she will do something or not. I'm keeping my expectation low. That way I can be surprise and usually lower expectation gets exceeded by the real event. I mean Kishi has been placing Sakura in each chapters, regardless she doesn't do anything, she's still shown. I do believe Kishi is fond of her and there are evidence that shows it, including his office. I guess our patience is wearing thin. Here's hoping for something great.

I think it'd be funny if Kishimoto has not purposely allowed Sakura to be skipped over but realized this, purposely placed the dramatic year ending, and then rocks out 2013 as a huge Narusaku year. Hey, with all the Sakusasu and Naruhina in one year, he's gotta push towards the third fandom. Even if it's not for romantic reasons, he still has to respond to the big three

Well, we are getting close to the end of an arc, so I guess it's NS time. SS got negative feedback and NH got their moment, but yeah, we'll see in the end.

Of course! Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman follow this manga religiously! Well, Batman follows it after a night of JUSTICE!

For the uninitiated, The Big Three commonly refers to those 3 superheroes. laugh.gif

To be honest, I always hope that, but sometimes... how many times haven't we waited for the next arc, the next arc and she got nothing? Isn't kinda frustrating? We only base ourselves on the phrase "all your favorite characters will shine".
Well, Neji fans wouldn't agree with that, don't you think?
So what if he pulls something like that with Sakura as well?
I know I am being negative, but sometimes, I just lose hope... sad.gif
I miss my Kazekage rescue arc Sakura. That had the emotional part as well, but the kick-ass as well.
