I think it's only matter of end with a bang or a whimper. I don't think it has the chance to ruin the theme and characters. Plot, perhaps, but it won't be offensive.

Highly doubt that it can go with a bang, don't know what can surprise me in FT in good maner.

It's understandable, I've been sensing the different vibe from Hiro ever since Rave Master ended, and Fairy Tail Zero is a good representation of how things were during the days of Rave Master.   By no means am I saying Fairy Tail is kitten, it's quite the opposite I think it's a good series.  Besides I don't think Fairy Tail ending will be kitten, I mean we don't need a repeat of what happened on November 6th that's the one thing I fear nowadays when it comes to anime/manga. 

 

Hiro is a much better author than the one we use to consider good at the time,  he's not Seishi or Kataoka, but he's passable.

I wish he'd push the boat a bit more, it's just sad when the FT: Zero series surpassed everything the main series has done in years by a large margin, That series reminded me what Mashima is capable of, the types of emotions he can make you feel, it revived my interest in the manga, it got me excited that the Mashima I remembered when I picked up this series over six years ago still exists and he's ready to prove it once again...but it's been all cookie cutter stuff so far.
 
If it was any other mangaka I'd probably give him a pass, but I've seen what he's capable of, I know he is better than the content he publishes...so that's why I'm so let down with this weeks chapter.

I agree. Tartaros was definitely the peak of the series (aside from Erza, of course). What we're seeing here is the same thing that happened with Nardo after Pain arc, although it obviously hasn't dipped that low like 5 Kage arc since it's too early to tell. But if I were you though, I'd reserve my judgement until the Big 500 (which will be around a year's time) to give a general judgement to see where this arc is going, because Mashima has a pattern of introducing game-changers around the milestone chapters. I suspect we'll see things shaken up a quite a bit once we reach that chapter. I think the first half of this war will be building up towards that chapter, then after that it's a non-stop rollercoaster ride like the Tartaros arc.

So we have some wet Yuri battle action next week...maybe? This chapter was meh, pretty much as I expected. Erza tpically being shown as struggling before she'll overcome or get saved by Jellal, which has been the case with her since the beginning. Only interesting bit is why that woman as taken an interest in Lucy. (Also her power to shrink everything is OP beyond OP)

My question is, Spriggan 12 could have easily won it (They have Brandish). Why would she need to be interested in Lucy? Marine can easily defeat Lucy or Erza or anyone who use SPECIAL magic .

I can think of two reasons
-Brandish can be a side switcher
-They want Lucy for a purpose.....But what purpose?

Brandish doesn't look old enough to have known Layla, unless there is something more to it. but beyond that, same kitten different day.

Well unless Brandish is older than she looks that is. Other than that I feel the fanservice is over used. Even Natsu and Gray are kinda sick of it. And believe me harry I do agree that the story could use better twists to it. Mashima is capable of so much more.

 

don't know if it's just me but I don't mind personally that Natsu has become a god-mode sue cause the Main character of a manga being that is satisfyig just not interesting and lacking tension.

Seems these fights are just warmups and  are not given much consideration . Though it appears 2 of the 12 are already down ? How easily and conviniently Marin was defeated , the one wizard who rendered both Lucy and Erza powerless . Also  Brandish , somehow decided it a better idea to shrink the house instead of shrinking Lucy .
