Sakura: Naruto's always had difficulties mastering skills.To add something to the Rasengan, a jutsu invented by the fourth Hokage, especially for someone like Naruto may be impossible.

 

Sai: You have a point. Naruto is a clumsy fool and you know as well as I that he can't perfect the modification of the Rasengan. Kakashi and Yamato have been sticking it out all this time. This is a total waste of manpower. I don't know what the Hokage expects from a no-talent like Naruto.

 

Sakura: *punches the nearby tree* Say another word and I'll knock you out! And exactly what do you know about Naruto anyway? Sure, he's not the brightest guy but no one will surprise you more than him. He's saved us more times than I can count. Everytime someone expects him to fail, he proves them wrong-That's who Naruto Uzumaki is! 

 

Sai: *smiles*

 

Sakura: You're smiling?! I'll pummel you!

 

Sai: There's no need for that. *shows the book - When words can mean the opposite of how you feel*

I understand just how completely you believe in Naruto and I also know you'll never betray his trust.

 

Sakura: Hey hang on, you've tricked me Sai?!

 

Sai: Don't worry Sakura, Naruto will pull it off.

 

Sakura: Oh Sai. Naruto, Hang in there!

and translate what Naruto is saying as accurately as possible?

 

People try to use it as evidence that Sai was wrong about Naruto loving Sakura (even though Naruto already implied it in Sai's flashback) because Naruto wasn't acting on the promise at all. Viz's translations says that it isn't just about the promise though, so I need confirmation.

As far as I'm concerned, I would rather translate it as "Even without my promise with Sakura-chan... The problem is not there/it's not related to that."

So he's just saying that he would still pursue Sasuke even if there was no promise made between him and Sakura. He's not saying if the promise is still there or not.
