I meant anyone who will see the movie. The 'you' was meant to be a general and addressed to anyone who'll see it.

I'm heading out to see it in a few. I'll give my opinion about it when I get back.

From what I've heard from non-critics, it's actually not a bad movie; I guess it's just that the powers of the Green Lanterns are too out there for mainstream audiences. Spill.com gave it a high rental, saying that the OA and space scenes were very cool, some good performances, and that Ryan Renoylds did a good job. The problem was that the earth scenes were too long and boring, and a lot of important plot points seemed to have been missing. Basically the writers specialized in TV, and they couldn't adjust their style for the big screen.

I am a bit torn on seeing this, since I've been looking forward to see how DC's more obscure heroes would fare. The critics overall just hate this (worse than Origins: Wolverine!? That's Last Airbender territory we're trending into!), but based on what I've heard from normal movie goers and Spill, it's not a great movie, but not a terrible one either. I guess if you're bored or have extra cash it's worth a look.

I saw it and I can say that for the most part I was entertained. I liked it and so did most of my friends. And it is nowhere near as bad as The Last Airbender. I recommend to see it with friends when you have some spare time and spare cash.

I wanted to like Green Lantern! I soooo did! I don't follow GL so I went in only somewhat familiar with the story (mostly from the Justice League animated series and the graphic novels that he's in) but I did like the character from those series and I was hoping for an epic film that would pave the way for an epic Superman movie. I did like the last battle, but the CGI in this film is sub-par. Why didn't they go with a Guillermo del Toro approach and have their other lanterns be half prosthetics and practical effects plus half CGI to enhance movement? I hope there is a directors cut that helps make more sense of things. The issues mostly stem from the poor dialogue. There are too many lines of dialogue that are unmotivated or seem like the beginning of a conversation and then the end of a conversation, with the middle part missing. Also... things just don't make sense, I am led to believe that being a lantern allows one to know a lot of things, but I didn't think they were all-knowing. I mean otherwise... how does he know Carol is kidnapped and then just suddenly showing up? It's just... he goes to Oa then flies back to Earth and goes straight to save her with absolutely no prompt... and yes I know the ring allows people to know the presence of evil or whatever... but they didn't even show the ring leading him there. WTF?! I pray there is a directors cut that has a more coherent moment to moment plot ... otherwise this was a genuine lazy film-making 101.
Spoiler-ish for possible future movie premises... --Click here to view--
Also is this how it is in the comic books where all of Oa is comprised of @ssholes who don't come to the aid of Hal vs Parallax, and whose sol-remaining bad-@ss so easily resorts to using a yellow ring? All I know of the Parallax story is that at some point Hal is possessed and f's up the DC universe.

The GL movie was a fun and wild romp through the mythology of the Green Lantern Story and well worth an afternoons watching. I also fully intend to own it on DVD when it comes out and can highly reccomned it to everyone.

For some reason the critics have taken an axe to it which I cant understand at all because while at worst it feels a little rushed at some spots and I would like to see some more ring training beyond those small oopses the rest of the movie is a solid comic book movie. Ryan Reynolds is fine and actually comes off as a more human Hal Jordan then his comic version which is actually more important to the movie.

for GL purists and comic fans the story and origin have been altered slightly but not so glaringly as to be unrecognizable.

Again i highly reccomend this as a good fun movie to see.

They're doing it again. Film studios really with super hero films that tank really have no idea what they're doing. Here's what Warner Bros. film group president Jeff Robinov has to say about what they hope to accomplish moving forward with Green Lantern:

"we had a decent opening so we learned there is an audience. To go forward we need to make it a little edgier and darker with more emphasis on action…. And we have to find a way to balance the time the movie spends in space versus on Earth."

NOT EVERY SUPERHERO NEEDS TO BE NOLAN'S BATMAN TO SUCCEED!!!!

While I understand there is room for darker things, if they go with Hal Jordan
becoming Parallax
that's fine, but edgier? rolleyes.gif The issue with the spoiler thing is that they'd have to establish the other heroes first too. This is also an issue for the next item of news:

In this same http://www.superhero...2-and-the-flash we learn the Flash is still on the way and that they hope to do a Justice League movie. Problem is that's probably a more far off thing as most DC character films have been set in stand alone universes.

Also has anyone seen the pilot or the preview scenes from the failed Wonder Woman tv show? I didn't think it was so bad. I don't know why they didn't go ahead with it? Costume could've been better.

They didn't go ahead with it, because no studio wanted to pick it up. It seems like it's been a mess at every turn and no one wants anything to do with it.

To go along with the Superman pic I posted above, here's Hathaway's Catwoman. Not really partial to her bulky head gear, but only because it feels out of place when compared to her more form fitting outfit.

Too much hair! I know Superman has had this much hair before I believe this was the curly mullet. And is it just me or does he kind of look like a buffer, wide-jawed Cillian Murphy (Scarecrow from Batman Begins, among his numerous roles)?

I agree with it not working with the form-fitting outfit. While I'm not wild about the look, we don't know the context of the shot either. So I'll wait to see the movie to pass judgement on Catwoman's 'look'.

Edit:

No Whereman, how is the new Thundercats? The trailer got me interested.

There's a Thundercats topic on Otaku Square.

Yeah, in general, I'm just nitpicking on her head gear, but it's for a shallow reason, though not for a "It's really ugly, not so Catwomany OMGZ!" It just kinda clashes with her sleek-ness, or something. Ah well, Nolan will probably change my opinion anyway. So, I've made peace with it right away. XD

That's a bulky looking Batwing. Or an odd looking one. Ah well. It'd be cool to see it in the actual film!
