I don't know smiter, I have the Pro 3 Hori stick for my ps3 and the standard Hori stick for my 360, (what an expensive venture that was) and I have to say, I like the standard Hori better. I've used the SF4 tourney stick before, but I wasn't really impressed with it. I kinda prefered my Hori sticks over it.
But I have to comment, despite what you think, not all the Hori sticks feel the same. Each individual ones feels different to me at least. I've played at a SF4 gaming community thing at one of the colleges near where I live. Talk about 6hrs of non-stop SF4. Anyway, there sometimes you get to use other people sticks, in case the SF4 isn't free on the system your stick is for. But anyway, I've played with at least a dozen Hori sticks there, every one of them felt different. So maybe that's what it's like for you too.
Yeah, I can understand how each Hori will feel different.

My Hori does feel a little clunky, but it could be wear and tear or simply psychological (It has completely failed me in a couple of fights - both offline, thankfully). The increased sensitivity of the buttons on the FightStick feels like a real plus. Also, it goes without saying that every player is different, so he/she will have his/her own control preference.
I wish there was a SFIV gaming community near where I live! Offline multiplayer must be great fun with that game.

Also, when do you guys get on to play. Everytime I get online I usually see Shauna and the Master Chef guy (sorry I can't remember his H&E name *^^*) But I never come on when you guys are doing the SF4 fest.
Some of the guys usually come on at around the same time as me (UK evenings/US afternoons). Hopefully, I'll be on tonight! This week I'm on holiday so I can play any night as long as I don't have plans.

When I'm working, usually I can only play on Saturday/Sunday nights UK time.
Lol, that's because I'm always on playing Team Fortress 2 XD Yoko says I'm a *wee* bit obsessed with that game
And the MasterChief guy is Ed, I believe
And it's good to see that you're having fun with your new FightStick, Smitey!

Thanks.

It's hard to resist its siren call from my room. XD But I've had other things to do today.
The Orange Box is awesome, especially TF2! It's a pity I only have it on the PC so I can't play with Xbox gamers. It was great fun playing as the Medic. XD Maybe I could re-install it since I've been playing Dead Space on the PC and have not suffered any ill-effects so far.
EDIT: Took so long to send reply I totally missed Harry's post.
I have been playing Street Fighter 2, since the World Warrior days, and was pretty good in all the games up until Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo, and then things went downhill. I never really got into Street Fighter 3, and now i'm trying to get back into the swing with Street Fighter 4....and boy do I suck, I can't play on the 360 controller, so I ordered the Hori Arcade stick, which seriously sucks, so I replaced the buttons and added octagon arcade from Sanwa, which improved my performance a bit, but with my bad soldering job the buttons sometimes become unresponsive.
So I finally managed to get hold of the six button pad....which is good an all but just not as fun to play with as an arcade stick, plus i'm not as young as I used to be and get finger cramp very quickly. so yesterday I ordered the MadCatz Fightstick SE and Sanwa buttons and joystick to hopefully get a true arcade feeling. Now if I can get to even 50% of my old fighting days, i'm not expecting any more, as the whole focas cancels and the speed of the game is something I don't think i'll ever get used to, but if I pull of a dragon punch like it's second nature again i'll be happy.
I seriously hope this works the total costs of playing Street fighter IV is getting crazy, so far Ithink the cost is up to £300, as I pre-ordered the PC version with the 360 controller from Capcom US as well. It would have been cheaper to just buy a fightstick TE.
I'm thinking of giving Sakura a go, she's similar to Ken and Ryu, only problem is I feel like a dirty old man when playing with her...lol (Though why she is still a school girl I have no idea, Isn't this supposed to be after Street Fighter 2, and she was a 15 year old in Street Fighter Alpha which is before Street Fighter 2, I wanna see a college student Sakura with nerdy specs. :-)) Cammy is a fun player to play with if I can remember I'm not fighting as en and try to do the thrust kick using hard punch. Chun-li i'm more of a button basher with her, as I am useless with charging moves.
I think Sakura's supposed to be slightly older at 16/17 now? Hopefully the FightStick will work out for you.

One problem with playing online is 90% of challengers are either Sagat or Akuma, I can might have a small chance against Sagat but Akuma is a pain to play against.
Really? My problem is that I usually see Kens everywhere. In fact, many of them counterpick Ken when they see me pick Cammy.

Sagat is troublesome because of his long reach and lack of weaknesses. Akuma, however, can be beaten if you're careful not to take unnecessary risks when he has a full Super/Ultra bar. I'm not sure which characters can counter Akuma's Super/Ultra, but Cammy can kill it with her Super, Ultra, or even a Cannon Spike. As True has found out.
