  • Interests:Honestly, western sakura haters are pathetic (if your wondering why I say western, its because thats where all the sakura haters are) they hate sakura for the stupidest reasons, makes me wonder if they even read the manga for anything besides illogically hating on her, and even more so if they even read the same manga. Seriously they really are blind if they think sakura isn't the most popular female character in naruto and has a huge fanbase in japan, kishimoto-sensie's main fanbase. Honsetly, they aren't true naruto fans because they're practically bashing the main heroine of the series who has had AMAZING and deep emotional development, both romace-wise , character-wise and-power wise, and the love interest, Haruno sakura, of the main hero, Uzumaki Naruto. That alone is an insult to kishimoto-sensie's work. Not to mention they rub off the japanese culture, which is important to know if you wanna 100% understand the details of the manga.

My hobbies are drawing, and reading awesome facts about anything I love! Oh and how could I forget, I love playing on my PS3, my favourite online game is Team Fortress 2, favourite character to play with is the scout! (Although I love all of 'em).
Bless the PS2 era...and all those awesome games... (applause to you if you were part of that gaming age, jack and daxter, sly, spyro, crash etc.)

What do you wish me to say? You want me to admit that NH is canon and that I should abandon ship right now or stay on course and try to find some reason why NS is still good as gold?

No matter what choice I am going to be called delusional. What can I say?

It's just with all the times Kishi has pushed a pairing forward or created dramatic tension, it gets wasted and Naruto is made to look stupid...again. I mean completely oblivious. That is one thing about Naruto that gets me. He is such a nice guy that he won't tell people off or gets "caught up in the moment" rather easily. Are people going to tell me that if Sakura makes an advance on him, Naruto is dumber than a bag of rocks, but if Hinata makes a move all of a sudden Naruto knows exactly what kind of situation it is? This selective obliviousness...I can't even say.

Naruto took Sakura's hug and thought nothing of it. Now all of a sudden just because Hinata holds his hand he knows "Oh she is being romantic. I love her so much." If that really is how this is, then I am severely pissed off at Kishi for doing it.

What if to Naruto this is just him holding her hand? It wouldn't be the first time he was oblivious to it. It wouldn't be the first time a romantic moment was pushed under the rug.

I don't know what people want me to do or say so I am just going to stay on the ship. If it sinks, then I will go down with it. If it floats...I am not moving. No matter how bad things seem.

I am just as upset as every other NS fan on this site, but the difference being is that I am not giving up. Not when we are this close to the end. I am making my stand here regardless of the outcome. Where do the rest of you stand?

Exactly i agree with james.I will stand my ground and support this pairing to the very end!

Now about the chapter:-

I dunno bout you guys but i loved this chapter, now dont get me wrong i liked it because hinata is finally getting her development she's getting wrapped up in these chapters, not just here but the rest of the rookies because after that they wont be significant anymore, so im really glad we're getting it over and done with hinata first.

Now ok hinata encouraged naruto and now he's ok, now hinata did everything she said she would in 573 now i just wanna recap what she said cuz it seems like some of you forgot this point, lets recall it now shall we? "Naruto...I've always been chasing after you...even now" ok so what we understood by that part is that she's still chasing after him hmmm ok lets continue "But after this war is done im gonna stop ONCE AND FOR ALL" hmm ok after the war is done hinata is gonna stop chasing after naruto superb, now lets continue, "next time im gonna be holding your hand, walking with you, wait for me!"

Ok some of you might say we're back to square one but no, she said NEXT time which means DURING the war she's gonna hold his hand and walk next to him like exactly what she did in this chapter. Now my point here is that after the war hinata is gonna STOP chasing after naruto, as simple as that.

Now when naruto held hinatas hand, look at his face, is it that loving look he gives to his sakura-chan? no is there any trace of romance there? no naruto just looks like he got encouraged (which isn't the first time, Itachi, kakashi, gaara etc did the same so its not romantic) and wants to get revenge for his fallen comrade, and hinata too needs to fight this one as well because neji is her beloved cousin, now the reason hinata got the courage to say what she said is because of neji, not naruto.

I believe that the last interaction narutos gonna have with hinata is her rejection, he'll probably say "Hinata im sorry but...." and whatever he's gotta say, this isn't the first time naruto goes through something emotional with one of the rookies, i dont wanna go pointing it out because we all know what it is.

And for the "narusaku" fans who say "oohh i give up" or "naruhinas cannon" or whatever, your wrong, just because hinata got some developement doesn't mean naruhinas cannon, no.Do you actually think kishi is gonna throw away all that developement and parrallels in the garbage, and outta all times now? do you actually think hes gonna waste all his time and effort he worked for making sakura narutos love interest, making sakura and kushinas love life EXACTLY the same that its just ridiculous, making narutos love for sakura soo deep and loving and selfless, making ALL THE NARUTO AND SAKURA DEVELOPEMENT in thr whole manga and so on ALL IN VEIN?? well i dont mean to be rude or anything but you are not true narusaku fans, yeah thats the bitter truth, man kishi wanted to make somw tension in the love subplot and hes sure doing heck a fine job at it.

The only true narusaku fans are the ones that stick to it in the end and open their eyes, think about everything that happened in the manga up until now, not only in a narusaku way but as a naruto MANGA fan, and think logic, like my pals james, gravenimage, phenilflix, ciardha etc.

Stick to this ship and stand tall! and phone it out in the end, theres nothing i hate more than phoning it out in the end, start strong and finish strong, true narusaku fans will show their true colors during hard times, whether its negative or poaitive, not juat while shipping but in real life as well.

Peace.

TOTALLY 100% AGREED.
To me Sakura looks on sadly because she want's to figure out exactly where her feelings lie, Sasuke and Naruto leave her incredibly confused and she hoped she had all the time in the world to figure it out, but Hinata's confession showed her she is not alone in her feelings and has to make a decision.
She could also be looking on in sadness this chapter because she's reminded about her own confession.

But the point is that Kishi didn't just put a panel of Sakura observing and listening to Hinata's speech for no reason, there is a reason for it and we will most likely find out that reason in the new year.

I have a question for anyone who has been on this forum for a very long time, if it gets active when Hinata so much as appears in the same panel and outright crazy when ever the slightest romantic gesture happens between Naruto and Hinata. Then what was this place like during Hinata's confession?

I'm guessing it was bats**t crazy.

"The time has come at last for you to learn everything . . .

Fare thee well, Albert, my friend."

You seriously don't wanna know.....

But if I had to say which one was worse....... It would be this. And the fact it's the last chapter of the year, just makes it all the more frustrating.

Some part of me believes this. That the sole purpose for this chapter was for Hinata to finish her character development. But the other part of me is angry/afraid as hell. Holding hands is considered "romantic". So this is in my book a NaruHina moment. NH can win out a this point. It all depends on Kishi's next move. Sakura's shocked/disturbed facial expression in this chapter may easily mean something. Nothing is really clear-cut anymore. I never thought I'd find NaruHina such a big threat to NaruSaku now ... sleep.gif

I'm not sure what I'm angry over more. The fact that NaruHina got such a promient place this time around or the fact that Sakura's thunder of being heroine got stolen from Hinata.

This panel wasn't putted for nothing. It clearly tells us that Sakura is not at ease. People, she's witnessing this whole thing in front of her eyes which if Kishi didn't want any reaction from Sakura from this or at least don't want to point at anything in this chapter, he wouldn't care putting this panel from the first.

There's no true NS fan, despite i acknowledging that NH has more chances now i still ship for NS, but i'm saying is this arc is decisive if NS gets no development on this arc so NH is canon, simply by the fact that kishi proves that he give up on Sakura.

Kishi DOES have a track record of doing this though, not just with Sakura.

Think some...long periods over the years where we joked the manga should be called 'Sasuke' or 'Shikamaru' wink.gif. IMO it's kind of Kishi partially being a victim of his own success- he's created such a detailed world and hence, a detailed returning cast that he feels he has to give them some screentime too.

We'll see, and I perfectly understand why you feel threatened by this chapter, I do too! It's just that the way it wrapped up, the literal embodiment of what Hinata said she wanted seems pretty...perfect. Like it's finished. Kishi does have a style of doing it, of making his characters come full circle, like with Neji paralleling his father, choosing freely to die for his friends.

As for Sakura's wide-eyed reaction, it is placed too late in the chapter for it to simply be a reaction to Hinata's slap. But honestly I have no guess as to what it's about. It makes no sense in relation to the context of what Hinata's saying. It's weird, because it's an expression that looks like Hinata just said the worse thing ever to Naruto, so that confuses me further. I don't think it's jealousy, as some have said, because it's too horrified of an expression to be within character and not have a thought bubble tied to it.

I agree it's weird, and somewhat confusing, but I would not describe Sakura's expression as "horrified." I would call it shock.

After Hinata slaps Naruto and begins her speech, the only observers to get a reaction panel are Obito, Kakashi, and Sakura. Obito because he is the nemesis. Kakashi because he has an investment in both Obito and Naruto. Sakura because of Naruto. None of this was by accident.

I don't think Sakura's expression was meant to convey jealousy, or fear, or anything in particular. I think it was purposely left unclear -- more of a placeholder, reminding readers there is a lot left to cover between the main characters.

I think the point was to make a conscious association between those characters (Obito, Kakashi, Naruto, and Sakura) at the moment when Hinata is talking about how "everybody's lives are connected together." The title of the chapter is Connected, after all.

We'll just have to wait and see what happens next. I have a difficult time believing Obito is finished testing Naruto, and that the Obito/Rin/Kakashi similarity to Naruto/Sakura/Sasuke was set up for nothing. I know it's painful waiting to see Sakura have more importance, but I truly believe she will and when she does it will be significant.

Just because I have some doubt in NaruSaku's position in canon does not make me any less of a NaruSaku fan. If NH/SS happens, I will cry tears of rage and sadness. It doesn't make any of us less a NaruSaku fan. After this hand-holding scene, it's reasonable to be depressed. It's reasonable to question. Just because I'm not completely unphased by this chapter (understatement sweatdrop.gif) doesn't me blind. It makes you open-minded. And when I see things that can possibly damage my pairing, I'm not gonna be in denial about it. I'm gonna point it out and accept it.

I find it hard to have faith in Kishimoto. He's done a lot of stupid asspulls over the years. What makes it any different in pairings?

Besides that, I agree with the rest of your post. biggrin.gif It could easily be just Hinata developlment. But it's 50/50 right now. It could also mean NH is the canon pairing. That said, I don't think we should give up. happy.gif

@fireandice: True. But I'm so defensive about Sakura and her status of heroine (Not mentioning how Kishi epicly fails to more with her), I just get so angry when she gets upstaged. Especially by Hinata who's fanbase is terrible, plus she doesn't have nearly as much heroine potential as Sakura. Thank you for your words! I'm feel very threatened right now but I also think it's equally as possible that it's just character development from Hinata that doesn't include NaruHina endgame.

OKAY, I just realised there's a major mistaken conflation going on in this entire thread.

Losing faith in the belief that the pairing will become Canon =/= Jumping ship or not liking the pairing anymore.

There's a difference there, everyone, and I think it's perfectly natural for lots of people to lose hope in NS because of what just happened in that chapter. That's nothing wrong with that. Meanwhile, of course, we try to stay positive! But I won't blame anyone for feeling like this chapter is showing NH is gonna be canon instead.

I mean I myself really thought NH was gonna be canon immediately after chapter 439 (Hinata's Confession).

OMG!!! Hinata touched Naruto's hand it's official NH IS CANON!!!

Joke aside people please calm down can you tell me what's more effective for a romantic sign.

touching Naruto's hand vs hugging him in more than a friendship way in front of an audience (done twice)?

A suicidal confession vs. a confession that made the protagonist blushed?

You know what I think it's going on? To me this is more than just Hinata development, but I think Kishi wants to force Sakura's hand. He is making her want to confess and tell Naruto everything to how she feels. I wouldn't be surprise if next chapter Sakura sees Hinata holding Naruto's hand and she will immediately feel hurt like she did when she was healing her at 442 and with this she will finally reason to take action. Now I know you people will think I'm being a desperate NS fan but please hear me out.

In the entire manga Kishi has never DONE absolutely nothing to make Hinata get close to Naruto or even have any physical contact with him at all. The fact he made her touched Naruto's hand and tell him an inspirational speech (because it was zero romantic no shipping included) this is truly character development and maybe he's finally closing the doors on Hinata's character. However don't lose hope thinking that he's jumping ships just when the ship is almost reaching the shore (No f****** way because that's not Kishi at all). He's not going to troll NS after more than 400 chapters of development the fact he went this far with the physical contact with Naruto (NOW in the story) it can only mean one thing and it's not making NH canon but he's planning something really BIG for Sakura that will probably make it into the mother of all NS moments that will probably finally make the pairing canon. He's showing all the signs that the story is probably reaching it's end and maybe he wants to make the pairing he supports canon before the final battle of the story (Naruto vs Sasuke valley of the end part 2). As for the NH moment besides being one sided as always? Fine let the NH fans have their moment and have a field trip squealing in joy with this chapter because this is just another bone Kishi has thrown to the fans disguise as a big trolling move from the author.

As a shipper and fan of your works, I thank you. I do not come here often and with 'real life' intruding, I have been here even less than usual. Let me say this, though. I will not abandon ship. In fact, for something different, I will now give my own commentary on the state of things using old naval, uh, well, stuff.

"Ahh ya scurvy dogs! Somebody get the buckets and start bailin' out all this water on the boat! I think we've taken a direct hit from the NH! Blast that ship to the bottom of the seven seas, by Davey Jones! Hold fast, everyone. Once the smoke clears, we can more properly assess this damage, but methinks our little ship, the faithful NS is still afloat and can still keep us in this. We've taken broadsides from the NH before, but we've kept sailing. We can't forget that we've always been sailing against two ships in this great big sea, the NH and the SS but I'll be keelhauled if I give in with just this! Look how far we've come! We took out the mainsail on the SS when the captain of that ship defected and went all crazy! We even crushed the figurehead on the NH when our own captain (Naruto) completely forgot to respond to the love letter from the first mate on the NH! Now, maybe if we can get our first mate to buck up and do her job right, we can win this thing! We can take home all the loot and bragging rights if we just stay the course and wait for our moment, and when we get our ship right alongside theirs, at the perfect time, God willing, we'll have our cannon fully loaded and we'll launch a broadside the likes of which they've never seen! Then, the NS can hopefully be the only ship left on the seas, sailing off into the sunset. ARRRRR!"

To sum up, it may look less than appealing, but these are just gut reactions, and we've been through worse. I thought the whole Pain moment was real major, I mean, the first person in his actual cognizant life to tell him they loved him, after all, he didn't get that from Iruka (their brotherly relationship doesn't need that sort of affirmation) and he doesn't remember it from his mother when he was a baby (which breaks my heart) and although he did get it from Kushina and it enabled him to lay some whoopass (forgive the cursing) on Kurama, he received it after Hinata. Now, I know we're not little kids running a footrace, or trying to pick a seat or a treat and yelling out "FIRST" but that felt as though it should have been significant. Should have been, because up until now, and still as far as I can tell, her confession has been for naught.

My apologies, apparently once an NSLAP-er, always a NSLAP-er, even if it's been ages. My main point is this: it is not over until the fat lady sings. Heck, although I do think Neji is actually straight up dead, don't forget, we had Kakashi meeting his freaking dead father (which really looked like it was over for him) and Shizune laid out for real even worse and we got them back, so don't give up hope. Be realistic, be cautious and temper your hope with forbearance (am I using that word properly?) but stay the course! That's it for me, and hopefully it doesn't take another shipping catastrophe for me to come back.

Even as an NS fan I was pleasantly surprised that my prediction of Hinata being the one to cheer up Naruto came true.

The only thing that I take of note is that sentence near the end that said "I won't let go of your hand". Since it appeared in the white section there's no way to know if it was Naruto or Hinata that said that. Hinata's thoughts about holding his hand seemed to be "Naruto's hand is big and strong and... makes me feel safe", this is how her thoughts seemed to follow. So it could be a possibility that it was Naruto who thought about not letting go of the hand.

Still, even with all of this I just can't imagine Naruto suddenly having feelings for Hinata in the same strong manner he has them for Sakura. If it truly ends with NH the only thing I would be disappointed in is that Naruto was never portrayed having any special thoughts about her, not even once.

Naruto doesn't feel like someone that would just change his feelings, he's stubborn that way.

Oh dear. While I was reading this chapter, I just knew some people would be running around in a panic.

There are way too many pages/posts for me to respond to, so I'll just try to keep this short and sweet with a general response.

Firstly, I want to make it clear that no fandom/member bashing will be tolerated. I understand that some of you are feeling very emotional and may have made those kinds of comments without thinking. However, if anyone decides to make any more bashing posts anywhere on H&E, they will receive warnings from moderators.

Thank you.

Secondly:

Chill out. cool.gif

NaruHina has not been made canon. This chapter has simply shown good development for Hinata. For far too long, she has hid behind various trees and buildings and been too afraid to speak directly to her idol, Naruto. Now, she finally gets to stand next to him and speak her mind. Naruto, however, still shows no signs of romantic feelings towards Hinata. They are closer, yes, but they are still friends. As Tricksie has pointed out, Sakura does have a very shocked/pained expression on her face as she watches Naruto and Hinata. Remember, Sakura has worried about Hinata's feelings towards Naruto before (Pain arc). So we could see something on that in the future.

Remember the big picture. NaruSaku has been developed over a much longer period of time, and we have seen hints at romantic feelings from both Naruto and Sakura. As we know, Sakura is currently confused about her own feelings towards both Naruto and Sasuke, and we have seen a couple of moments where she has struggled with that. Ever since Shippuden began, we have been drowning in NaruSaku moments in comparison to NaruHina and SasuSaku. Hinata only had a handful of scenes, and Sasuke tried to kill Sakura twice. Both NaruHina and SasuSaku have remained strictly one-sided.

If Kishimoto were to abandon all that work building up Naruto and Sakura's relationship for an out-of-the-blue NaruHina pairing, it would make JK Rowling's pairing development look subtle. tongue.gif As we know, Sakura was introduced in Chapter 3 of the manga as the girl Naruto liked - and he has never looked at another girl since. In fact, his feelings for Sakura have only grown stronger over the course of the manga. While Sakura liked Sasuke before, she has been looking towards Naruto more and more over the course of the manga, and we have definitely seen hints of her feelings moving beyond close friendship.

Hinata has already confessed to Naruto before; in the Pain arc. He never did respond to that. Of course, remember that Sakura hugged him afterwards and the reactions of the crowd around them definitely hinted that it was more than a platonic hug. wink.gif Hinata's reaction to that was simply a content smile, she knows how much Naruto likes Sakura.

Hopefully Tricksie is right that everyone will get their chance to shine! This was a good chapter for Hinata, and she is finally where she wanted to be - on Naruto's side and speaking her mind. It would be great to see the other rookies get to shine as well, and hopefully Sakura will have her moment soon.

So, again, chill out and let the manga tell its story. happy.gif

Well the hinata moment really bothered me... BUT I'm not about to abandon ship yet!

So many great posts you guys have posted and they are greatly raising my faith, I really hope all of this NS development throughout the whole manga is not wasted just so a pairing that has almost no development till this chapter is made canon.

I REFUSE to give up on NS till I hear naruto tell hinata he loves her or he kisses her! I see the chances of NH have increased and I don't deny that, but I'm not ready to give up on my favorite pairing just yet. smile.gif

And so because of this chapter, old and new members of this forum come together for a party. Heaven and Earth unite! Thank you Hinata.

I would like to give my 2 cents on this chapter but I broke my finger so its kinda hard to type. Most of the posts already said what I was thinking too. That I don't blame people losing faith in NS and thinks Hinata has a chance but don't ever say that they are not a true fan of NS. Who are you to call them that?

And also, don't forget that Sakura has not been in the spotlight yet. She will get her chance surely. Like I have said many times, there is still Sasuke. Her development will surely come when Naruto confronts Sasuke which seems to be the final battle of the manga.

So if you were a writer of a story, would you resolve the main characters first, of the side characters first? *peace*

The fact that it's happening the same as Pain's arc i have the thinking that something will happen too, but the difference it's the last and a decisive one, Naruto did not hold her hands in a romantic approach and neither obito see that scene as Obi/Rin, hinata got her development now, if sakura gets development on the next chapters will be the same as pain's arc everyone will be overjoying again, everything happening on Narutoverse and screw logic like luffy said but the problem is we already knew that the holding hands was going to happen but not how, we mostly thought that she wanted to hold his hands like a girlfriend and even she desired this but the holding hands happened on a different way, it's romantic for Hinata's part but not for Naruto, my only complain is the fact that Sakura lost her heroine status and she will lose it forever if kishimoto does not find a way to show Sakura more on a heroine way.

Hi guys,
Logging in after a loooooooooong time, feels strange. tongue.gif

I had left Naruto for a long time, and I still feel like a visitor rather than a member.

Read a few of your comments, but you guys are going too fast for me to catch up, so..... skipping over a few pages. xp

But I really liked James S Cassidy and tricksie's comments.

It does not signify that you are a bad fan if you acknowledge that the other team got a huge (understatement) boost, neither does believing that this might be the final pairing. Because it does not imply that now you like NH better or no longer like NS. I saw a few posts implying that, so sorry if I am being presumptuous.

Now for the chapter:
Wow, that was some fanservice. I'm still shaking my head to make sure I was not hallucinating.
That ending was straight out of a NH fanfic. And now I must wait for the Golden Byakugan. :eyeroll
And Hinata has deeply, deeply disappointed me, or Rather Mr. Kishimoto has.
What was with that last statement? Your brother just died, to save you.
The first part of her speech was OK, but her thought process, just regressed all the development her speech implied. Ugh.
As for Naruto.... did anyone else feel that Naruto was taking everything everyone did for him and projecting it onto Hinata.
It felt a bit too convenient for her. It felt more like her being on the right place at the right time, rather that any true, genuine feelings on Naruto's part.

Well, what's gonna happen, is gonna happen (as they say in my language), but yeah, if NS turns out yo be the fabled Red Herring, I'll really lose all hope in Mr. Kishimoto's writing. Sadly, it feels like I already have seeing the way he has treated Sakura for a long time. It seems rookies mean either team 10 or Hinata.

Anyway, not sad, though definitely not enjoying the chapter, it felt to fanfic-y and too easy a conversion of Naruto's feelings to me.

Take care,
pc123

Peace.

I don't know what it is but i feel like you're on to something, I just feel it and WE SHALL STAY ON THIS SHIP EVEN IF IT SINKS! WE LOYAL MOTHERF*****S
