The own Sakura fandom were deeply splited between SS x NS wars at the time with SS fans being extremely vocal against NS. This helped Kishimoto/Editors didn't notice Sakura's popularity especially in Japan.   Hinata fanboys still were hating on Sakura in west because she was threat to NH. The manga ended. SS fans got what they always wanted and were free to 100% support Sakura. NS fans left or started to multiship SS. So Sakura fandom grown bigger and stronger as ever...

Most of the Haters simply moved on. Sakura wasn't a threat to NH anymore. No more reasons for Pairing wars. Sakura isn't useless or weak, she isn't punching Naruto every time, has a good daughter, is a  good mother etc...
So no surprise why Sakura's popularity boomed after the ending.
Kishimoto should have defined Sakura final pairing at the very beginning: Sasuke or Naruto and never use Sakura to play with love triangles or drama.  If Kishimoto/Pierrot didn't trapped Sakura in this ridiculous love triangle with SS x NS x NH or erase Kage Summit arc. She would be much more popular at the time.

Sakura/SS/Sasuke are a controversial characters and Pairing. This helped to maintain Sakura fandom always alive  with discussions against haters, theory, fics, fanarts etc. There's nothing to talk or any appeal in Hinata or NH. So this fandom simply died even in the west.
Until a Boruto or Part 3 reboot comes. They simply  will produce  more novels and spin offs with Sakura/Sasuke to milk their fans. Sasuke always was a popular character  and now Sakura is at his popularity level and coincidentally is his wife. So she is the perfect partner for more romances or spin offs. Shoujo mangakas are pratically begging  this to Kishimoto...

I wouldn't exactly call the fandom getting bigger if half the fans have left, it just means that the fanbase has shurken so small that ss looks bigger than its use to.

I find her parenting and her daughter to be overrated. Sadara is only like because of one volume from gaiden, she hasn't done much after that execpt in boruto filler from what I have seen. Also it's pretty problematic when sakura couldn't tell her daughter anything about her father to the point she wondered if she sakura was really her mother.

I think it was pretty by the end of part 1 and the beginning of part that narusaku was the endgame, but the fans just didn't want to see it or went all nh.

Controversial characters and pairings won't last long term, you might have an intrest now but that doesn't mean it was last. Look at spider-man, marvel keeps doing one controversial decision after another with his love live and the fans have finally got sick off it at this current run. These sasusaku stories aren't that good and I have seen some sakura and ss fans hate retsuden,
for the way Sakura's character was portrayed. Also naruto is not a shoujo series, making it one will just alienate its shonen base.

They should of just done an open end or introduced the idea of a multiverse. Where ones universe has ns and another has ss. Heck ns could of had the main timeline as that's what the narrate was leading and ss could be in a universe where sasuke was never a jerk to sakura, that should of been what to do if they were so worried about alienating shippers.

The "any press is good press" was a pre-internet concept due to advertising obscure media was difficult. To the point any news that could interest potential buyers would be good. The problem is that it requires the product be enjoyable, but now a days companies run with it despite their products being crap simply because they assume the negative press will sell their products. Instead it making people sick of them and chasing them off.

Let's use BlueSabers example. Spiderman fans love Peter Parker X Mary Jane. They hate 'one more day' and have for the past two decades begged Marvel to put them back together. Even their creator Stan Lee wanted them back together. They were temporarily put back together during Nick Spencer's run because he needed to save his reputation after Captain America is a Nazi story line flopped; another any news is good news story. Then a new writer was put on board and they first thing that do is a controversy in hopes it would boost their sales. The controversy they went with is Mary Jane is already married with several kids. All it has done is from what I understand finally killed the 'Work Horse' of Marvel Comics.

Back to Sakura. A negative reputations are harder to get rid of than a positive reputation. The news that spread of Sakura was she was an abusive bitch who beats up Naruto an orphan boy and a slut who is obsessed with Sasuke. That's what was spread and any attempt to counter it was shut down by nH fans with the help of their allies SS. Since they didn't mind it since it would help their pairing become canon. Her reputation and image got worse and worse until she eventually lost heroine status due to her being perceived as being too hated to be either the heroine or love interest of Naruto. This only changed after the ending because how poorly written the follow up story were as well as how poor the canon relationships were. That people finally took a second look at Sakura and finally admitted it would have been better if she had gotten with Naruto. By that point 85% of the fandom had stop supporting the IP financially.

You can also add political scandals with leaders, canidate and members of political parties & governments in democracies for the any press is good as being nonsense. As most scandals that come out to the public have detsoryed the reputation of anyone involed in them forcing them to resign, kicked out by the party or defeated in an election.

You might have the die hard tribal voterbase defending party and still supporting then, but alienate swing voters and memebers of the public that would potentially consider voting for your party casing them to lose as a result

No. SS/NH only helped to destroy NaruSaku's and Sakura popularity at the time.
i'm certain most of the SS/Sakura fans who voted for Sakura still loves SS, didn't voted for Sakura expecting a NaruSaku material when Sakura is married to Sasuke and have a current spin off with both of them...

Don't try to blame just NH/SS fans for the franchise decline. Boruto would have at the same state with  a NaruSaku ending. But Haters/nH/SS would blame Sakura/NaruSaku for everything bad that happens in Boruto just like you blame NH/SS.    At least nobody blames Hinata/NH/SS for nothing in Boruto. They only blame and hates Ikemoto.

I already said Naruto franchise decline is the entire fault of Ikemoto who are constantly kittening on Sasuke/Naruto, the ugly draws and poor story pacing. Kishimoto biggest mistake was to choose his incompetent and unknown assistant to driver the sequel.

If Kishimoto comes back or at least put a good writer and mangaka to draw a new sequel with a big movie promotion. not just novels and spin offs.
Naruto could at easily increase two or three times the current sales...

"No. SS/NH only helped to destroy NaruSaku's and Sakura popularity at the time."

...Sorry. You don't seem to realize this, but having a character that suppose to be seen as the love interest to the Main Character constantly disparage; that she is unworthy of being with main character due to her awful traits, might lead to that character getting a negative reputation. A shocking revelation, apparently. NS was the intended pairing; to destroy the possibility of that happening, they destroyed Sakura's reputation. SS were fine with it as they assumed that it would stop once their pairings happen. It didn't, both due to the bad reputation Sakura had gained due to their help, and nH fans hate Sakura on a deep personal level.

I can't believe I have to defend Ikemoto. He is not the sole cause of Naruto-Boruto's decline. He hasn't helped, but he is not the sole cause. I'll give you three other reasons off the top of my head for Naruto-Boruto's decline: the toxic behavior of nH/SS fanbase chasing away fans, the destruction of the Naruto's manga core values, and Kishimoto's presentation of nH/SS either due to dislike or not understanding their appeal.
