Naruto's reaction in that scene always made me think. He said nothing comforting to Sakura like he'd be fine and just said he'd save Gaara, then interrupted Sakura before she could say she was crying for him. I still wonder to this day if Naruto seriously thought she was crying for Gaara or just said that and cut her off because he didn't want Sakura to know how upset he was about that.

 

I lean towards the latter most of the time, but I've never known for sure.

Really hard to say, but many evidences of hers to Naruto happens when he's not around.

Tell me a shonen that has romantic teases like Naruto or any thing romantic where the side character gets what she/he wants with the main character(DBZ doesn't count because the author didn't really care about romance at all)

You mean a series that have a side character win over the main character? None. I gotta admit, I often think "Is Bleach technically harder?"

Though I believe he still has no interest in an actual endgame pairing.

Well we can't really say bleach as it hasn't ended yet

Something I've been noticing about the NS moments. They're always interrupted. Sakura crying over Naruto, Sai's comment about Sakura being gentle, the unfinished sentence, the Feeding scene, and hell even the confession. Even when they aren't, they aren't full moments. They're sort of half moments, I guess you could say.

 

What I mean by half moments is that the moments are never really mutual and complete. Naruto was unconscious during the Tenchi Bridge moment, unfinished sentence, and 663 so didn't see it. Sakura hugged Naruto twice and Naruto never returned either. When Sai confirmed Naruto's feelings for Sakura, we didn't see Naruto's face and we didn't see his expression when Sakura hugged him the first time either. Even Sakura's confession was also halfway because Naruto didn't believe her and we later got hints of Sasuke still being in the picture.

 

I've been starting to notice this more and it's really got me thinking. Why does Kishi try so hard to interrupt NS moments, let Naruto not be present for the big moments, and then have these "half moments". It's obviously for a reason. Kishimoto tries too hard for it not to be.

 

Honestly, I'm under the impression Kishimoto always does this not just to be a troll but NaruSaku would be too easy to make canon if he didn't pull things like this all the time. That vibe is definitely there.

I've been thinking about moments like those and all of these parallels and story hints (like all these characters mistaking Sakura as Naruto's girlfriend) and it makes me think that it sets up NS to be a pretty big thing when it happens. All of this is just build up.

To be fair, Orihime is a heroine as well, so not a side character.

I know, but in the continuous journey, one would wonder what's really hard. To me, Naruto got easy to know. Yes, open ending is still up but when it comes to any other, nope. As for Bleach, it seems rather hard, but I wouldn't be surprised if no one wins.

Yeah there were so many pairing moments and some foreshadowing in the dream chapter I have a hard time believing that everyone won't atleast find somebody.

Well no one gets a free pass. To me, that's their destination end. It's no wonder no one thinks something that will happen like Shikamaru being by Naruto's side and other common knowledge.

I'm still wondering how Kishi plans on making ShikaTema work I mean they are both going to be the second in command in each others villages which is a couple days trip away from each other.

 

In fact what was the Love Fodder's plan anyway he knew Sakura was from Konoha and he was from the rock village or whatever.

Well in terms of foreshadowing I was referring to Gaara, Shikamaru and Choji's dream mostly

I'm assuming you mean among western fans

But to answer your question, it's either because of NH or that they look cute

Its apparently more popular in europe as well and australia

 

In fact from what I hear so far Japan may be the only place where NS is more popular and even then I'm not entirely sure.
