Nothing special happened in this chapter, to be honest. It was mostly things I knew or wasn't interested in to begin with. And I'm not feeling the Zervis at all. I knew something would happen since it's been hinted at, but I don't care enough to ship them at all.

I think Mavis and Zeref is a pairing, chapter 448 ended with the subheading 'is it love or darkness, and this chapter Zeref's words were 'you always had the power to walk beside me'

 

I quite like the idea of the two, the only thing that put me off is that she's still stuck as a 13 year old, two immortals trying to find a way to end his existance for the sake of other, and the other who froze her own existance to save others. Plus kinda cute how both brothers seem to have similar taste in women, both Lucy and Mavis look like they could be related.

Well, to be fair though... Zeref himself looks like he could pass himself off as 16 at the very least, giving him a 3-year difference between him and Mavis. And for people who think this ship screams lolicon, come on. ShikaTema started sailing when Shikamaru was 13 and Temari was 16, but no one's calling her a shotacon.

I agree about the parallels between NaLu and ZerVis. Lucy has a very close affinity to light, like Mavis does. While Natsu is prominently fire, he also has darkness as his other affinity.

Wait Natsu has Darkness as his secondery affinity? I didn't know that I didn't even know he had a secondary apart from the lightning ability he gained when absorbing Lexus's afffinity.

 

I wonder if it will be revealed that howwe have the monsters created from the book of Zeref, Mavis is somehow linked with the zodiac keys...maybe she's the one who formed the original contract with the Zodiac King. Or maybe I'm still hopefull we'll see more from Lucy in future arcs.

Well, E.N.D was the one who created Curses which are harvested through negative emotions i.e. Darkness. That's where his secondary affinity comes from.

And yes, I'm getting the feeling Mavis may have been the first person to contract the Spirit King.

I don't know, I really got that pairing vibe from them. I wish they weren't, honestly. In any case, I really won't dwell on it, as long as it doesn't play a bigger part in the flashback.

Agreed, there is something that I don't like about them. I don't hate it and as I mentioned, I won't dwell on it as long as it doesn't take up more of the flashback and slow the more interesting plot down. There are still so many things I want to know and I'm hoping Mavis might shed some light and give us something new.

 

Hehe and yeah, the brothers do seem to have a similar taste in women. I haven't even thought of that. I guess it's fun to see some similarities between them because when Zeref was first introduced, he and Natsu seemed like they couldn't have been more different.

I can see it happening. BUT that would kind of make their confrontation at the end of the GMG arc seem more personal than being on opposite sides of ideals which I would prefer more in the context. My preference of course.

Man the manga made me very emotional for this moment in the latest episode, but seeing it animated with the music and the voice acting I was about to seriously cry by the end of the episode and when it happened I was like ugh.. I got to wait another week for the amazingness of this masterpiece of The Tartarus Arc.

Interesting chapter, not sure how to comment on the happening just yet, Well Zeref and Mavis scene was cute in a not really cute sort of way, the fact Mavis looked younger than usual didn't help matters.

 

I think the end threw me for a loop, as we know Mavis's body is stil frozen in time and she can astral project herself somehow. There is also the fact that we've not seen her doing any of the Fairy Magic we know she can do like the fairy Glitter, or Fairy Law and the Time bubble thing.

 

Well we know why Zeref was on the Island now, he just wanted to be close to his sweetheart...even though she wasn't technically there....wait if Mavis was frozen in crystal under FT headquarters, why is Mavis' soul on the Island? So does that mean all this time the two were spending time together?

That's an interesting topic you just brought up cause it never crossed my mind, I trust Hiro Mashima in explaining that bit of information.  Odds are I think we'll probably get an answer to that next week that's my big guess. However I could be completely wrong about it as well. 

 

I got to say so far I've been enjoying this flashback, and I was little curious if you think the next chapter will be the end of the Mavis and Zeref flashback mini-arc?

 

I think it will the end of the flashback, maybe we'll have one more full chapter of it, but I can even see us getting back to the present immediately.

I'm... not quite clear if Zeref killed her. Wasn't she kinda immortal, I thought nothing could kill her. If that kiss did somehow managed to kill her in any way, why didn't Zeref die as well? I need to read the chapter more closely.

The moment Rita said, "We'll have to join hands for Makarov's future & held her hand & died instantly

This showed how it was affecting people's live.... She ran away so that she won't kill her dear ones.
She ran to a forest where she was away from everyone but there too, she saw living things dying cuz of her

One & a half year passed. Zeref appeared. He noticed that she looked terrible. She hadn't eaten for a year & half & still didn't die
After that Zeref revealed how he is planning to die
He created Alvarez, Etherious etc. but he wasn't sure if that will kill him.

The moment they show their love for each other, Zeref kisses her & I think that he loved her so much that he took her curse on him

Zeref did kill her. His love was just at a highest point since he has said he never felt this love so strong. Remember how he felt peace with Mavis because they both live the same way, but even then, the curse is just too cruel. It goes to show you that the curse is just awful in everyway.
