lol, Hinata and Sasuke didn't ruin the story. Hinata is irrelevant to anything that is not paring related while Sasuke didn't ruin anything, problems related to him like Naruto's obsession and Kishi's obsession over his clan does not make him a "significant" factor in ruining Naruto.

 

Regarding "self-inserts" that can be applied to all the major parings (NH, NS, SS) and all the major character's fanbase would reduce if you took away their "good looks", honestly that's a cheap way to diminish a character by thinking a single shallow quality is why they're liked a lot.

Their fans are who pushed a huge percentage of the market with this story, which Kishimoto and SP answered because they believed they were the most profitable.

 

I did not ship NS because of some self insertion the way most of NH and SS's fans did, I did it because it was the most logical conclusion to the story as it was constructed. It made the most sense. An entire movie had to be made to retcon the main drive of the original manga, in order to excuse the canon pairings.

 

If you don't think Sasuke and Hinata are mainly popular because of how they look then I don't know what to tell you. Sasuke was villain who couldn't be punished because of his popularity, and Hinata did absolutely nothing int he main story but once attempt to commit suicide by jumping in front of a mad man who was trying to kill her crush. Both are liked specifically by the majority of their fans because of their looks. I was a member of NF since 2009, I've read the arguments their fans have made multiple times, and in the end it all boils down to their looks.

 

Which extends to further other parts of the story. How did Kakashi look like when he was finally revealed? Like a freaking super model if that picture is correct. What was Kishimoto's big idea of how to make "Sakura more popular" why he choose to make her look like a movie star.

 

Why? Because the man does not know how to actually build characters. The only way he knows how to make someone popular is by making them handsome or beautiful.

 

I've said it a thousand times and will continue to whenever I talk about this subject. If Sasuke looked like Qausimodo he wouldn't have a fifth of the fan base he had today. The same thing can be said about Hinata.

Don't worry - this is a great site, and the members and mods work hard to make it that way. I'm not sure how many other naruto fandom sites try to by fair and tolerant. Especially shipping-based ones. But it's an important part of this one. Don't let a few loud posts make you think it's anything less!

I hope Kishi keeps creating this drama in both SS and NH.( though NH family drama, will most likely happen in the movie.)

The characters are nothing but an extension of the author, they are not real people. They should be open game the same way bashing the plot and theme of this story should be open game. Characters are nothing more then literary devices. The problems with them in the story should not be ignored, they aren't real people.

 

What all of us are doing here is giving our opinions of a literary piece. I'm not going to give Kishimoto a pass by pretending Hinata and Sasuke are real life people who's feelings I could possible ever hurt.

so direct your criticism (not bashing) at the author then. every characters decision, thought and action is controlled by the author. your hatred for the characters is blinding you from the real puppet behind of all this. seriously, you take these characters and put them in the hands of almost any user here and they would get the proper development they deserve. but some of you can't even see that and that's sad.

 

and no, some of us are giving our opinions in a bashing way. calling hinata a b*tch and "hinatakittens" (ugh) isn't criticism. it's childish bashing. honestly, there isn't much that separates us from the nh/ss fandom.

 

i really love this site, but i understand why james rarely comes here anymore.

Critcism on the characters is fine, it's normal. As Tiller said they are extension of the author, we can complain about their actions and characterisation because by complaining about it it will also be a critic to Kishimoto since he is the one behind it.

 

However the pure bashing like calling Hinata, Hinakittens or calling her b*tch and things like that...I agree that has gotten a little annoying

Normally I am not that vocal when it comes to stuff but how this crap came to be brings out the bad parts and angry ones. We are vocal because we loved this series so much.

Over on NF I am a member of almost every anti fan club for a reason. Kishimoto f**cked up this story completely, and the vast majority of characters are suffering for it.They've been stripped down to borderline or outright stereotypes. It's the work, no duty, of us anti to continue to spread that word. Kishimoto f**cked up this story from head to toe, and like a cancer it infected every character.

I read your posts on NF and they're pretty hilarious. But yea, in canon, everyone's at fault here. I'm fine with calling out each and every one, including Sakura and Naruto.

The puppeteer? I know you couldn't know this but I tried creating an Anti-Ksihimoto Fan Club on NF many times. The only reason I didn't at the very end when I was finally going to be allowed to was I got tired of NF and the Pro Kishimoto fans there after the ending.

 

I hate the characters because of how they ruined the story. Which I have always placed solely on Kishimoto and by extension on his fans. As I said I know full well Sasuke and Hinata aren't real, which is why I don't feel bad when anyone bashes them for the shallow reasons that their fans love them.

 

And again, criticizing characters because of what Ksihimoto does to them, and how their supporting fans see them should be clear and open game. They are not real people you don't have to protect their "feelings", they don't have any. Hinata and Sasuke's fans dragged this story down in the gutter because Kishimoto in the end appealed to them, and ruined everything he was setting up in his story for them.

 

For the love of good he even ruined the main theme of the story (Free will being the true guide to life not "fate".) Just so Sasuke and Naruto would be shown as "soul-brothers" who were destined to save the universe because they were chosen to always do it. Instead of the story being about a spunky little orphan kid, who by hard work and effort save the world, got the girl, lived his life on his terms, and freed people from the chains of slavery of the ninja system, it instead became another retelling of "The Once and Future King" with Naruto playing the role of King Arthur, reincarnated to save the day once again as he was destined to because of his greatness and failures of his past lives.

 

All of that and more happened just so Sasuke, precious Sasuke, had an excuse to why he was such an asshat. He wasn't a bad guy, oh no not Sasuke! First he is an Uchiha and they "love to much", by their nature. Secondly he is the reincarnation of a prince who in the past choose to rely on his own strength instead of the strengths of others. You see that's why Sasuke is evil, he didn't choose to be a traitor and terrorist, oh no he was destined to react like that, and to take up that mantle. You see it wasn't Sasuke's choice, no it wasn't his fault, it was just the character he has always had inside of him. He's "pure" he doesn't understand the idea of "good and evil".

 

Which was Kishimoto's excuse to put NH/SS together so he could reap the benefits financially from them. I mean who cares about the freaking story, fanboys and fangirls have been drawing hentai stories about the "hot" couples, can't disappoint them.

Had an argument with a pro-ending fan at work thank god I was off the clock this how it went down because it dealt with Sakura:

 

Me: I'm sorry this chapter made me loose every ounce of respect I had for her. I'm just fed up with defending her, or at least defending what she's become.

 

Pro-ending fan: She's a good character who has been shut down and hurt everytime she tries to be confident. For her kitten luck she's doing good.

 

Me: I don't buy it. Her daughter's got more respect out of me then she will ever get from me.

 

Pro-ending fan: Dude, too harsh for the life she's had. Her first love ran away and betrayed her, tried to kill her many times. And Naruto told her that she was lying when she said she loved him. She had a kitten life as a ninja. I don't blame her for being the way she is.

 

Me:  Oh well she had her shot at being great, and failed in the ending.What you consider a good character is nothing more than a pathetic kitten waiting to get laid in bed.  Think of the message that sends off to people who initially looked up to her post part 1 and seeing her growth in Part 2 that's what you consider  a great character, and sadly that Sakura is forever dead to me. SO believe what you want cause I could care less what becomes of  some of the old generation cause they got screwed over in the end.

@tiller - you know what, i'm going to stop going back in forth with you. you obviously enjoy bashing the characters and approve of it. so continue on with the childish name calling. actual criticism is fine, bashing isn't. but you don't see it that way, so i'm done.

I usually end up being more serious here because we tend to get into bigger issues about the story as whole, for whatever reason.   I much prefer to make joke post, because humor can be a great way to make a point, but sometimes you just have to tell it like it is. I'll never forgive Kishimoto for what he did to this story, and the moments of my life he wasted by it, and I will not back down when I discuss it either.

 

But I am sorry that I may get a bit preachy at times here.
