Yeah, me neither.
The problem Pokemon has is that it's a series that refuses to grow, they have made the same stuff for like 7 seasons and they will still keep at it for 7 more.
When the Kalos League Fiasco happened, I remember my initial reaction was simply laugh because I had stop watching it since DP, and I just felt sorry for those poor bastards who watched the entire arc only to see Ash fail AGAIN.
I hate the anime with a burning passion( I watch Sun and Moon sometimes though) but the moment Ash got screwed over at the Sinnoh league via a deus ex machinia with legendaries I freaking knew for a fact, Pokemon would never try to change or break the status quo EVEN if they make Ash win in Alola or something they are gonna keep making the same stupid kitten forever. Honestly, people are better reading the manga or watching the movies than watching the crappy anime make everything over and over and over and over...
Sadly, until the Producer and/or other staff changes, yeah, we'll just keep getting the overall same thing over and over again. And ever since the announcement of the Ultra Sun and Moon games, I've been seeing some more people FINALLY acknowledging the repetitiveness themselves after years of playing (though a lot of people I've seen who really like the games actually hate the anime for similar reasons, on top of the anime contradicting the games at various points, which some people believe are the only true Pokemon canon and don't count the anime or manga).
Heck, the "best" Ash has ever really gotten was a shiny Noctowl way back, but otherwise, from what I recall, he NEVER captured a even a SINGLE legendary Pokemon to date, much less even half of any single generation (whereas Red, in the Pokemon Origins OVA does acquire all 150 known Kanto Region Pokemon and is last seen leaving to search for Mew)...actually, on that note, a lot of Ash's Pokemon he didn't even battle and capture like normal, but the Pokemon themselves simply chose to go with him because of him helping them or something. It also doesn't help when he releases a number of them (some of them he promised he would return for, but never does, like Pidgeot and Primeape) or they choose NOT to evolve (ie. Bulbasaur) or something (usually just to keep them smaller and cuter whereas Charizard was the most popular form for Charmander, so he was made to evolve into Charmeleon eventually, and then to Charizard literally a couple episodes later since no one seems to like Charmeleon).
