Nah, they'd let Sasuke kill his family, then come up with some BS "justification" like the whole "Curse of Hatred" for the Uchiha Clan in general. Oh no, most of them were NEVER power-hungry douches, but they were predetermined to do evil things because they "love more than anyone"!

  
That's true they pull something that makes sasuke the victim, the only ones that weren't power hungry Douches were Itachi possibly, mikoto, shuisui and possibly Sarada currently.

As much as I liked Naruto when he was still in character, I think it would've been better if the protagonist of the story was Sasuke.

No no no no no no sasuke is the worst and the series still suck if he was the main hero unless you give him a better character and if Naruto was evil but for different reasons like he got sick of how the village treated him.

It stared back at the end of part 1 with the whole sasuke thing and got worse when ever sasuke was brought up every goddamn second. Then in the war it got even worse with the whole saving obito and he's calling obito the most awesomeness guy ever and the final fight with Sasuke. And the lowest point after the awesome guy line was in the last .

As much as I liked Naruto when he was still in character, I think it would've been better if the protagonist of the story was Sasuke.

And as much I want disagree with you because naruto is the hero, protagonist, and title character of this manga. I have to said yes sasuke is the protagonist of this manga because his backstory is much more interesting and his conflict pretty much shape the part two. Don't forget that the manga end with him. So sasuke is not only the heroine, he also the hero of this manga. You can't deny that he's kishi golden boy.

Itachi is a douche because he's pretty much a mass murderer who torture his little brother into another douche bag avenger. Kishi even need to justify the uchiha massacre in order to make him a saint.

Sasuke sucks he's the worse character ever, it's like saying vegeta is the real hero of Z to now and Goku is a side character which is true but that's done better than sasuke. Nothing about sasuke is interesting just generic by the books thropes nothing else. And him being kishis golden boy makes it worse because the characters we want to see and grow more take a back seat to raging emo piss ant.
That's why Itachi works better as a straight up villain and not a ripoff of the boss from MGS 3. Even he's excuse about made no sense and makes murdering psychos the good guys which is assine beyond belief.

When he called Obito---the man who hypnotized the Nine Tailed into going apekitten on Konoha, killing not only innocent citizens such as Iruka's parents and the Thirds wife but, you know, maybe tried to murder his own parents and their newborn as well---a "cool guy".

Sometimes I feel that Naruto takes his 'nice guy' trope a little too far sometimes. His "cool guy" comment felt ignorant to me, and I wanna believe he's more sensible than that.

Also when he started getting unbelievable power ups left and right outta nowhere. Post-War Arc essentially made him less likeable to me.

Post LOI did him in for me, though I never really liked him in Part one until the Chunin Exams arc. I was more of a Kakashi guy

Naruto himself, as early as he start of Part 2 because of, compared to most others, how extremely little he changed, whether it be fighting abilities, power, or personality / viewpoints. The only thing that seemed to really change about him was simply growing taller. Then, after he and the new Team 7 get easily owned by Sasuke, it's just power-ups and Kurama chakra with only a SLIGHT bit of elemental affinity training, while virtually everything conveniently conforms to satisfy Naruto's unchanging viewpoint on things rather than Naruto actually being put into any sort of real moral conflict over such things. Heck, Naruto nor any of the rookies, IIRC, had to actually kill anyone outside of mindless, soulless White Zetsu clones.

He wouldn't be 100 % the way we know him. Few alteration in his acts would suffice like killing and going through the dark path.

Other than that, he got everything the protagonist needs to have : extensive background story - a lot of focus on his issues - focus on his journey - a lot of focus on his skills - focus on his relationship with his brother - the main female character is his spouse.

I think there are still another one or two. These are at the top of my head now.

During the Fourth Shinobi World War Arc. He was being in and out of character continuously. I knew that if it lasted that way, it was possible his character would be more damaged. The result was what I doubted.

Honestly after the Kage summit. But looking back I realize that he was a disappointment since the start of part 2.

First of all because he supposedly trained with Jiraiya, yet he barely advanced. I mean WTF was he doing in those 3 years?

Sakura and Sasuke gained power and skills while Naruto learned ... I don't even know. I guess he learned to better lose control over the Kyuubi. Like that's an achievement.

 

Secondly and most importantly that to this day I have never seen in any work, the incredible obsession with Sasuke. A guy that was never his friend, he barely was his teammate. A guy that made it absolutely clear that he's a moron that just wants to go on his path and wants to be left the kitten alone to be emo.

I get his promise to Sakura, that part I truly get. But Naruto's own motivation to get Sasuke? I will never get, ever. And not because I can't see it, but because it's not there.

 

It was the same "You're my friend" "He's my friend" "Friendship" etc. All that nonsense without anything to back it up.

Even in a flashback that was made towards the ending, Madara and Hashirama showed a better friendship than Naruto and Sasuke ever did in the entire manga.

 

The whole Obito was such a cool guy speech.

That was just the icing on the cake.

Agreed on everything, seems like he just kittened around and sat on his ass those three years and all he learned was to make a bigger Rasengan and lose control of Kurama more.
His obsession with got annoying quick and he never got the hint that sasuke didn't want to be saved. It would have been better if his friends did give up on sasuke and refused to join naruto in saving sasuke including Sakura, see how he'd react to that.
The friend thing was poorly handled cause they never showed them as friends like real friends are.
The whole obito line will never be forgiven as Naruto descent into bad, another mark on his record is him losing his kitten when neji died in front of him, this makes no sense since naruto's has dealt with death before with hirzuen,Garra and Jiraya, he handled those three well, but neji dying is what breaks him get kittening real.
Also him bowing to the raikage about forgiving sasuke for attacking bee.
I was glad when ay refuse to listen to naruto's plea, and knew sasuke was dangerous.
Naruto is all bark and no bite, meaning he doesn't back up what he says. At least dr.doom backs up what he says and he's a villain.
