Yeah, Kishi once again managed to make his main female lead look pretty dumb. And I guess the comment he made at jumpfesta holds no water now. Oh well... he can either make her completely terrible by this betrayle being 100% serious, or he will redeem her soon enough.

And besides Sakura, Karin was made to look insanely pathetic. Sasuke sacrafices her, and then is about to finish her, yet she's still in love with him? Those are seriously her final thoughts? Let's just hope Sakura doesn't turn out like that.

Therefor, Kishimoto actually COULD get away with that. As for the Sakura part, there\'s nothing inconsistent about it, it would fully explain her actions throughout this arc since she learned that they were relying too much on Naruto and that she was part of the source of his pain. By relieving him of the PoaL and taking on Sasuke by herself, it takes care of both points. Also, Sakura needed to know if it was all because of her, or if she was only part of it, and the truth is she is only a piece of the puzzle. At this point, she is going to do her best to take out Sasuke, but if she fails, she figures that Naruto will then understand just how far gone he is.

In other words, this chapter actually fits in with the continuity just fine.

Absolutely. I'm actually kind of eager for the next chapter because I want to see what Kishimoto has Sakura do- I know she's going to do something to try to kill Sasuke and I've made my guess. I'm curious if Kishimoto will go that route or draw her plan out longer and what will happen when she does try to kill him.

I agree what you just said Zeb. It is kinda true Kishi doesnt treat female in Naruto pretty well. Karin is stabbed yet she is still inlove, what Kishi is trying to to do, First LOVE, NEVER DIES?

I'm still say the Karin part is absolutely BS which gonna make it a huge plothole. Its highly unbelievable and that part is fanfiction. The Sakura part I can get and I'm not worrying about but the "Now Karin was originally a Leaf ninja" is the one that has me ticked. You already wrote a history about her in the 3rd databook, why suddenly change it on the last minute? And then the anime are going to have a very bumpy road ahead by the time they reach this chapter...

Oh, I agree. Further details show that Karin was actually a Grass ninja. Now, that would explain why we've never seen her around Konoha. However, Sasuke must have been on Prozac if he was friendly/helpful to a team from a different village AND Karin got more than a grunt from him.

There's also the unanswered question - why did Karin leave her original village? If she was originally Sound, it would be OK.

I strongly feel that the flashback was unnecessary and made Sasuke far too OOC. Why does every girl in Naruto need to cling to a single moment as the foundation of their crush/love?

Yep, further spoilers show Naruto is indeed rampaging in Sage Mode. He left a Kage Bunshin on the futon back at base to fool Yamato.

My feeling though, is that this plan, is likely fail and do so spectacularily

Oh, there are so many ways it could go wrong. We've already thought of Sasuke just stabbing Sakura on the spot, or luring Naruto into a trap. There's also the possibility of Sakura and Naruto facing each other on the battlefield, on opposite sides. Sakura would be torn between helping Naruto and sticking to her mission. If she helps Naruto, she blows her cover and loses her chance to assassinate Sasuke. If she does nothing, she risks losing Naruto.

It's all so clear!

Naruto will find Karin and get her healed, the two will fall in love, and live happily ever after

But srsly, Kishi screwed up. Big time.

However there is a part of me that wants them to so that Sakura comes to terms with what exactly her plan will have most likely done to everyone.

I just hope this arc doesnt turn into a massive Fanfic lol.

EDIT: Spoke to soon further spoilers have said that Madara has collected 96 eyes. (We don't know if they are Sharingan, Byakugan, or Rinnegan.)

I think we all just have to have a bit more patience where Sakura's storyline is concerned. Everyone has been freaking out every since her 'confession', as if the validity of it determines whether narusaku will happen or not. I don't think it matters so much if it was true or false, or even partially true (which is my theory, but I'm open to change) - what matter is it's ROLE IN THE STORYLINE. Kishimoto put it in there as a hint to show that Sakura's got some sort of ulterior motive that he isn't revealing yet. There is more going on here than what there appears to be - see beneath the underneath! Sakura's putting a great deal of effort into deceiving everyone and confusing them, and she's a smart girl, that's a fact that's been established time and time again, so she's obviously got some sort of plan. And I really doubt that it's joining Akatsuki, because that is completely out of character for such a morally upright person. And remember, it was a BIG DEAL when Sasuke, whose childhood was destroyed and was known to be unbalanced because he was obsessed with revenge, decided to abandon Konoha to join Orochimaru so that he could gain power to destroy Itachi, not necessarily to harm Konoha. And when I say it was a BIG DEAL, I mean that an entire arc was devoted to the rescue attempt, his defection marked the end of the first part, and it has been the driving force behind the story ever since. Now, the manga may not be based around Sakura as it is around Naruto and Sasuke, but she has still been present in the manga just as long as Sasuke and is arguably the most important character just after Sasuke. Her morals have developed to being very similar to Naruto's to the point that people have made comments about her values that are just like comments made about Naruto's. She is very compassionate about everyone in Konoha - unlike Sasuke, she even has a family there still - and her bond to Naruto has been shown to be stronger than Sasuke's to Naruto (not saying that Naruto cares more about Sakura than Sasuke, just that Sakura cares more about Naruto than Sasuke ever did). So unless we assume that Kishi was drunk when he wrote this and somehow the totally bizarreness of Sakura joining Akatsuki completely escaped everyone who checked this chapter before it was published, it's safe to say that Sakura obviously has an ulterior motive that hasn't been made precisely clear (though I'm guessing it's going to involve Sakura betraying Sasuke and killing/attacking him, Kishi does have a knack for surprising us). As proof of this, the script says 'the 'determined' Sakura's hands are shaking', indicating that there's something going on.
Personally, I'm glad that Sakura's getting some action, especially a story line that's causing so much doubt and confusion. I think this storyline is very interesting because it's hard to guess what's coming next - and things will get even better once Naruto gets into the mix.

I've been thinking since Naruto is heading towards Sasuke and Sakura it's obvious that Kishi is planning the second team seven reunion in the next chapter or the chapter after (484) since their last encounter back at 305. The worst case scenario will be Naruto joining up with Sasuke along with Sakura this will be a twist indeed. I have a strong feeling that Sakura's plan will backfire also I think this upcoming chapter will finally close the so called team seven love triangle revealing the canon pairing of the manga. I just don't understand why people are giving up on N/S???

Sure this is a bump in the Road but it should easily be overcome.

However if Naruto arrives just when Sakura and Sasuke are leaving together he wil be broken.

If he gets there before they leave, I hope he rages at Sakura's betryal rather then break down into another crying session over how they should be old Team 7 again. It would be interesting to see how Sakura takes it.

However if Naruto arrives just when Sakura and Sasuke are leaving together he wil be broken.

If she were so in love with Sasuke, then why didn't we see her secretly sneaking out of the Hidden Leaf after she found out he was an Akatsuki member, instead of deciding to go to the Land of Iron to TALK TO NARUTO only after Sai talked to her?

And who ACTUALLY THINKS this now completely-psycho Sasuke would even agree to take her along even if she really wanted to go with him?

Remember how Tsunade also faked going to heal Orochimaru's arms- only Kabuto alerted Oro in time. Heck this kind of thing is standard in Naruto >_>

I dont think people are disapointed in where the plot is going i think they are more disapointed in Sakuras Character.

I'm going to be disapointed should Sakura not attempt to kill Sasuke because it means alot of development of Sakuras character will have been for nothing if she still harbours feelings of love for Sasuke. (She might as well revert back to her part 1 self)

I dont see her betraying Konoha intentionally but you never no what might happen.

Again once the chapter 3 revelation comes out Sakura will understand what an idiot she has been.

Yeah, my guess is it won't be a long drawn out plan for Sakura to find her time to kill Sasuke- wouldn't fit with the Tsunade vs Orochimaru parallel that is all over this plotline, nor with what we've seen Sakura's style. Plus the longer she takes to act the harder it will become to hide what she plans on doing from Sasuke. I see her doing like what she just did with Sai, Kiba and Lee- look for a moment that Sasuke lets down his guard and gets distracted, then act quickly. I'm still thinking it's going to be a poison senbon or possibly a quick hypodermic injection (as a medic nin she would certainly have those in her supply bag too) or possibly a combo of the two. A Senbon with a quick paralyzing agent, then a hypodermic with a lethal poison that also acts fast.
