The 'Rookie 9+3' are all in their low 20s. The kids from Blossom are in their mid-teens. Hana is just under 30. Um, and I haven't bothered figuring what the older generation's ages are, since it doesn't matter for them, for story reasons.

Coughing gently, a waiter stepped up to their table. "Forgive me, Tenten-san, but I'm going to have to cut you off. You've drunk more than enough -- it's only because you're one of our ninja that we've let you drink this much."

BTW, I love how Tenten just rips off her panties and just gives them to Izure! I can't wait to see both their reactions once they're sober! Laughs abound!

As for the scene with Gai and Kireme ...that would be hilarious, but I don't blame you for not wanting to write Gai scenes...he is TOO annoying! I only like Lee when he's fighting, drunk, when he explains the Chakra circulatory system to Naruto, when he stops Naruto from attacking Neji in the prelims and the scene where he talks to Tsunade in episode 107. But he's annoying when Gai is around. They bring each other to news heights of annoyance.

No point in putting spoilers on at this point, as anyone who's following this thread almost certainly knows by now that Naruto's been named a Hokage-designate, and only awaits confirmation by the council.

I'm putting together the list of who votes 'Aye' or 'Nay' on Naruto's hokage confirmation right now. I've already decided how the vote is going to end up, and what thirteen of these votes will be, but I haven't COMPLETELY decided myself yet (just that the vote will be close, there will be a few unexpected votes, and that's about it). However, just to provoke a little dialog on this thread, I figured I could have a 'guess which clan will vote what way' prediction game. The names of clans are as follows (in alphabetical order):

Yes, there are other important clans not currently represented on the council (like Matsuri's Hikigaeri clan, a name I made up to give Jiraiya a clan of his own) in Konoha. That will be a point that comes up in a later chapter, as a new clan is inducted into the council.

Double-posted to bump while I make a request...

I'm planning to have Naruto's team + Hanabi teasing him and Sakura-chan about their sex lives in a future chapter. The way I would LIKE to do it would be with dirty limericks. Now, I actually have a book that has a collection of dirty limericks (and it's a somewhat valuable one, too -- part of my late father's book collection of Beatnik literature, it's worth a few hundred dollars. The material is a bit dated, as it's from the 50s or earlier, but it works), but I was hoping for something more topical.

The problem is, I'm terrible when it comes to coming up with this sort of thing, so... if anyone can come up with any NaruSaku-themed dirty limericks for inclusion in the story, I'd be grateful, and will credit you in the authors notes.

Again, you have time for this -- Naruto and Sakura aren't due back from their honeymoon for another chapter or two, and I'm not even sure if this scene I have in mind will happen for another chapter or two after that. If I can't get a few topical dirty limericks, I'll probably try something else, but I'd like to at least try and go with my original concept, if at all possible.

Yet, I had a crash course refresher via various sites, and am ready to tackle this rather extensive list of people, and at the same time give my views on them, and why. You stated that you want it to be a close vote, so I'm going to try and keep it as close as possible with the list of 21 people

Due to the recent development of the Hyuuga clan war, they most likely view Naruto as a competent ninja. Also the fact remains that (if I recall correctly) the clan leader had already stated immediately that they would back Naruto up 100%.

Akadou was in league with Orochimaru's assistant, Kabuto, in the beginning of the story during the exams. Having not really talked to Naruto, they probably still house resentment towards him and with that being said, probably still believe him to be the kyuubi. [Beginning of your story].

The Akimichi clan has never really talked to Naruto, other than Chouji. Yet, based on prior evidence, such as the reaction of Ino's father in the beginning of your story, I believe that the same occurrence will happen to Chouji and his family just like Ino and her's - although, on a slightly more mature level. Also considering the fact that the Akimichi's have a strong tie with the Nara clan, they may have slightly the same reaction.

4. Gekkou - No

Sadly, I don't really remember this name. However, I can make a guess that since he really didn't have that much of an impact on Naruto's life, he doesn't know Naruto, and still views him as less than human.

Again, Hyuuga clan war most likely will play a part in this, considering that Naruto is more in favor of Kiba/Hinata then the other two factions of the Hyuugas, they will probably side with him because of Kiba. Not set in stone, but a 70% chance of a yes in my opinion.

Okay, Xar, to answer your questions about 'where names come from' and make a few corrections from your assumptions:

Akimichi clan is more familiar with Naruto than you remember; Moegi, after all, is Akimichi clan (in this fanfic, anyway).

Gekko is the clan name of Hayate, the Chuunin exam referee who was murdered by Baki (Gaara's jounin-sensei) of the Sand.

Kamizuka is one of the two ninja who were commenting about Naruto's ninja abilities during the 3rd stage of the Chuunin exam, sitting next to Kiba and Hinata. He has also made more appearances than just about any of the other background characters in background character-type roles.

Shiranui was Genma's clan. Genma, in the manga, was the 3rd exam proctor, and also confronted the Sound Four during their attempt to escape with Sasuke, and was one of the two jounin who were badly beaten by them. If you'll recall, Genma was a part of the Blossom expedition, but was killed on the mission to protect the Daimyo. That is probably a more significant even than the 1st stage of the Chuunin Exam, which Genma wasn't even at. (He was only at the tournament portion of the Chuunin exam)

Tatami was an examiner during the written portion of the Chuunin exam. He also was the one who brought Anko the videotape on Gaara's arrival at the 2nd stage Chuunin exam destination, looking completely unscratched. Tatami also was Shizune's partner when they went to rescue the two Jounin who had met with the Sound Four, though niether he nor Shizune entered combat -- they just picked up Raidou and Genma and carried them back to Konoha. He's a background character with a larger number of appearances than most.

I'm surprised you don't remember Umino -- that's Iruka's clan name. (You know, the 'first person' who Naruto noticed recognizing him, his Academy instructor, that guy? (I make the 'noticed' qualifier because clearly the Hokage recognized him early-on))

Yamashiro was Aoba's clan. Aoba is the one who made the mistake of talking about Uchiha Itachi being sighted without checking to see who could hear him, which lead to Sasuke following Naruto and Jiraiya as they were hunting Tsunade, which lead to him being put under Itachi's mangekyou. Aoba's made numerous other appearances as a background character and as cannon fodder. Oh, and Aoba took over as the Jounin-sensei of Genma's team in Blossom after Genma died. Aoba is still in Blossom, however.

Maito is Gai's clan, but not necessarily Gai. Gai is in Blossom, currently as the acting-Jounin-oyabun. Whether he has enough influence, still, to affect the vote or not...

And I'm a bit surprised you missed my very big hint that some of the 'empty' seats could be re-seated for the vote.

These are conditional no's for one reason or another.

The way I think you're planning it desaix, would be that essentially, it would come down to there being less in favour of Naruto than those being in favour of. Possibly by one vote, though I don't know how I'd fit Anraku into things.
Attempts to vote by Sakura as either representative of the Haruno or an Uzumaki might probably be turned down.
Then, against all odds, Itachi (a clone) show up and makes a mess of things by entering his vote -as, by legality (mostly because noone's bothered to get rid of the Uchiha seat yet), he is the heir of the Uchiha despite his missing ninja status.
This causes an uproar (and a panic because of the security breach) and then another vote is called for. This time, following on his son and the new precedents, Nara backs Naruto. He is then followed by the rest of his previous teammates. Slowly, everyone against Naruto starts jumping ship and suddenly Naruto has very little to no opposition.

Personally, this is the way I'd see it. Naruto is the number one most surprising ninja after all and he's changed people's minds at the last second.


As for the limericks. I'm afraid I'm not too good at those. The best I can offer would be that I can imagine Hanabi defending Naruto and Sakura, only to cheekily recite a Haiku;

A cherry blossom
dances with the breeze; writhes--

I'd prefer 'honest-to-god-5-line limericks' if possible. Haiku are okay, I suppose, but usually are a bit more... artistic than what I'm going for, here (I once read a Kimagure Orange Road lemon fanfic ("Our Road: A Continuation of that Summer and its sequel "A Funny thing Happened on the Way to the Altar," both by David A. Miller) where the girl was telling the guy sexually explicit haiku as they were, um, in the middle of the action. Very raunchy, definitely, but somehow I got the impression they'd be VERY hard to use in this sort of a teasing manner).

Vespar's haiku above was okay, I suppose, but a little naughtier and a little more humerous in tone would be, um, much more preferable. (If I'd wanted haiku, I could probably have done it myself, though -- I'm actually pretty good at coming up with Haiku when the situation warrants it).

Hagane, like Kamizuka mentioned above, is one of the two people sitting next to Kiba and Hinata in the stands during the chuunin exam, commenting. He's also made many other background appearances throughout the manga.

And again, I really feel like some people are missing some of the obvious with regards to the 'unseated' people.

Just so ya'll know, there's a scene already written for the next chapter where Ino is chatting with Iruka-sensei at the Ichiraku restaurant about the whole vote thing, so you might want to hold off on predictions until then (I'd post the scene, which involves revealing that Iruka and Ayame are dating and a few other things, but it's unfortunately on a different computer right now and I can't access it at the moment). There'll be clues given, there, about who some of the 'surprise' votes will be. Oh, but I will say, the setting (the Ichiraku) is one of those spoilers, though you'd REALLY have to put two and two together to figure it out. (Saying that should give you a clue, in and of itself).

Edited to add: Curiously, my book "101 Dirty Limericks" (compiled by Jack Kerouac of "The Road Less Travelled" fame, which is why it was in my father's beatnik collection) makes no mention of any limericks involving a girl from Nantucket. Odd, that.
