Definitely looks promising based on the teaser so currently looking forward to it.

 

Of course, you also got idiots who are already making stupid criticizing statements like about "another 'strong' female lead" and attributing it to feminism and crap like that, And then you got people who clearly think they know Star Wars and yet saying this is "another" Death Star, clearly not knowing at all that this is the first Death Star and the setting takes place shortly before Episode IV.

Yeah, I keep trying to tell people that a vast majority of the time, the actors/actresses are not to blame for a movie being bad or not, but rather the writer(s), director(s), and/or producer(s) are the ones responsible. There are definitely times where they are but not nearly as frequently as a lot of people like to think. The writers are the ones who come up with bad lines that the actors/actresses have to deliver in the best way they can, the directors are the ones who tell the actors/actresses how they feel the scene should be acted out by them, and it's the producers that decide if things should get cut, more should get added, and so on. The thing is that the actors/actresses are the easiest targets for people because they're the ones who are seen on the screen and the ones in most of the spotlight before, during, and after the movie while the writers, directors, and producers are far more behind the scenes (usually only the director getting face time alongside actors/actresses).

Yeah, I feel sorry for the actors who have borne the brunt of the toxicity.    It isn't just Jake Lloyd, Hayden Christensen and Ahmed Best have also been hit hard.

 

On a lighter note, I loved the new Star Wars film.  I got chills when I sat in the cinema and heard the theme music strike up, and saw the scrolling text.  It really struck home that I was watching what happened next in the Star Wars universe!

 

I got the Bluray this week and I invited my family over to watch the film while I cooked food for them, and they all enjoyed it.     It was my little niece's first Star Wars film as well, and I'm hoping that Rey will be a great role model for her in the years to come. 

 

We're all looking forward to Rogue One, hopefully it will be another great film!

What time is the rogue movie set in? I see no familiar characters. :/ Is it set in the same time and just far away, or after TFA?

Rogue One takes place shortly before Episode IV: A New Hope, showing how the Rebellion manages to steal the plans for the first Death Star. It's one of a number of planned Star Wars side story movie projects in the works. Only other thing known at the moment is a Han Solo origins movie with young Han Solo and such.

EDIT: So yeah, it's pretty much filler, but at least it's interesting and cool-looking filler, based on the first trailer, that helps lend some explanation to what lead to such a huge event like Episode IV. Unfortunately, this also completely knocks out Star Wars: Dark Forces and Kyle Katarn out of any possible canon given Kyle Katarn was, years ago, the mercenary hired by the Rebellion to steal the plans, who then goes on to dismantle the Empire's Dark Trooper project, travels a path to becoming a Jedi and defeating a number of Dark Jedi, and then eventually becomes a Jedi Council member of Luke's New Jedi Order.
