Tbh, I wasn't too impressed with the art. I mean, for the big epic ending battle, the illustrations were not as dynamic as I would have expected. A lot of parallel scenes, a lot of staring each other down. Some explosions. There's nothing in the panels that makes you think "final fight" — in fact, taken individually, you could switch out a lot of the scenes with battle scenes from earlier in the novel without a problem. And that's a problem.
Even the flashbacks don't elaborate on situation between them. No new angles, no close ups. No Naruto's baby fat, no Sasuke wihout the burden of years. Just the same ol' images. Only new information came in the form of the spiderweb-covered kitchen.
I would hope to see new angles of Naruto and Sasuke, closeups, collateral damage and maybe even crazy new moves, born out of desperation.
Not being harsh...maybe there's more to come. Kishi can work some riveting illustrations, and since this is the end, I don't think it's wrong to hope to be on the edge of my seat. But with only four chapters left, I'm ratcheting down my expectations.
Just surprised the art was not more dynamic and out-of-the-box. Don't know if anyone else felt the same.
