Tokyo Ghoul

Oh, I see. Not gonna lie, before AoT, I was one of those girls who was scared of anything gory, including animes. But when I saw the greatness of AoT, I realized it's not that bad. So in a sense, AoT helped me to give Tokyo Ghoul a try- which is far more gory and bloody than AoT in my opinion. I hope your cousin gives those two masterpieces a try- after this disastrous ending she read in Naruto. That way you have two series you can discuss together with.

Speaking of AoT: Hehe, just came back from the movies and bought the second volume of AoT. I was so surprised when I scanned through the volume and realized that Eren was already turning into a Titan! Did the anime have many fillers or what?!

Lol the way I say it you and Ria have some things in common as far as gory elements are concerned. It's true though like I remember before Tokyo GhoulI was like damn what is going on in AOT and then this series came into the picture and boy I was proven wrong. No the anime didn't have fillers, but the whole thing with Eren and the training arc with him and his class is actually a flashback that happens in Volume 5. It's just that Wit Studio decided to have the events in the anime play out in chronological order.

Oh Alrighty then regarding The Bleach anime ^_^

I saw the spoilers too and yeah there are really interesting things. Especially the one guy with the missing arm that's shadowed out, and tbh I get this weird feeling that he's Amon.

Watch and see my brother getting it (he's taking a break from mangas and animes right now b/c he just marathoned FMA Brotherhood in less than four to five days...  It's hard not to like TG in my opinion. I'm not saying this b/c I'm a fanatic or anything  b/c there are indeed some things I could criticize, but these few flaws are trivial compared to all the great stuff going on in my opinion.

Lol, I still remember when Amon brought a drunk Akira home- I cracked up so much XD Akira:"Your true identity: A perverted investigator who does strength training in his suboridante's bedroom." Lol, ain't no one beat a kiss b/w Kaneki and Touka. And besides, that height difference b/w Amon and Akira is rather a hindrance for a passionte kiss XD

Quick question do you feel like we're getting to the end of AOT because that's something I've been hearing people talk about for a couples weeks after Chapter 64 came out. Honeslty with me there is still a lot of mysteries to be solved in the series for it to reach it's end at best given the monthly releases of the manga, I'd say AOT has maybe 3 years left.

Well, reasons why people would not like TG... Not looking at the gore, it might be our type of tragic hero. B/c let's be real, for many, things didn't pick up until the Aogiri Arc started. People love Shironeki more than Kuroneki. If people are not used to such a kind and physically weak main character, they might up reading before the real stuff had started happening. Maybe this series is too mature for teenagers before 14? They might get bored with all the discussions going on for instance during a meeting at the CCG.- Lol, I can only make up stupid reasons for why you wouldn't like TG. Leave it too the people who don't like TG to explain it.

Oh, that reminds me, I remember a member in here having described TG as stupid b/c it is a generic zombie story... She has no idea what she is talking about. She got the wrong impression from TG b/c I doubt she ever read past the Aogiri Arc Tree. She also hates AoT, so... I kind of get the impression that she seems to be someone who likes very unique storylines such as HunterxHunter, Jojo, and Evangelion.

Huh, some people really though AoT will end soon? No way, there are too many mysteries left untold to wrap everything up in few chapters! He said he once he would do at least 20 volumes (might have changed by now though).

Oh yeah definitely for people under 14 would be a little too mature for them to handle. Let's just leave it to them to decide why Tokyo Ghoul is not that great... I 'm sure they'll come up with reasons.

That's right I remember seeing someone making a post about that here, and I was like well clearly you haven't read enough seinen manga to comprehand. Not to be bashing members, but I'm just speaking the truth that's all.

I remember that too, and right now we're on Volume 16 as far as chapters go. Give or take we have two chapters left for that Volume. Plus if I know Isayama's track record since Volume 5 came out it's 4 chapters = 1 volume, and 4 volumes equals = 1 arc.

 

I know right Ishida probably thought I can't hold it back my audience is too smart to know I'm holding it back, so I'm going to just give them a little treat. Which is basically what we got in chapter 12 with the raws, but I'm not complaining. It's a good thing we're getting it now as opposed to say chapter 30 or 40. 

 

Hide isn't a bad character, but he's got room for potential to become great. I just feel like that he's just there if that makes any sense. 

Volume 1-4 = Transformation Arc

Volume 5-8 = Female Titan Arc

Volume 9-12 = Clash of The Titans Arc

So if we're basing it off this then it's safe to assume that this current arc, The Uprising Arc, will end at Volume 16 (we're currently on). Keep in mind this arc did start on Volume 13 which was Chapter 53. There are too many mysteries left to be unsolved for AOT for it to end anytime soon, like  i said give it about another 2-3 years.

I'm usually someone who is pretty opened to all genres. Like I said, right now I'm trying to immerse myself into many different types of mangas and animes. I even started the anime to Haikyuu yesterday! Always wanted to find out what people think is so great about sports animes, and I gotta admit, I really like Haikyuu ^_^

Btw, did I ask you that before? What is the official categorization of AoT? Is it seinen? It's published in Kodansha's Bessatsu Shonen Magazine... I personally consider TG my first real Seinen experience. Btw, it's published in Sheisha's Weekly Young Jump.

I'm kind of puzzled what Hide's role really is. I really like Kaneki's and Hide's relationship, I really do (that last scene touched me, no joke) But I feel like Ishida is expecting his fans to simply accept the important bond the two of them have without ever having taken his time to actually showcase it. Hide is too underrepresented for me. "Here you see two best friends whose bond is unseperable. Here you go." Although I kind of get the feeling that he might have become a ghoul, too...

I see, so we are almost done with this arc. Meaning that if it were really 20 volumes, it would just be one more arc. BS. It can't end that early already. So I guess it will be a few more years until it ends.

AOT is considered a Seinen, but people believe it's also a shounen. I'm not particularly sure, I wanna say Seinen just because it doesn't have the shounen qualities and I feel like it's just kinda dark to put it in the shounen category. I kinda figured when it came to Tokyo Ghoul that it would be under Weekly Young Jump and even that's too dark to have the shounen vibe which people mistake TokyoGhoul for. I 've seen people mistaking Tokyo Ghoul as a shounen and i'm like no it's ar from being a shounen it's not even funny.

If Hide becomes a ghoul that would be interesting because at the moment I just feel like he's there... Yeah he's Kaneki/Sasaki's friend but that's about.. I mean he's kinda cool and I like his bond with Kaneki but Hide just needs to do more to make himself a great character to me at least.

Yeah I'd say that the last chapter to this arc should be in February based on how Isayama's track record has been since Volume 5. Give or take the AOT has a few years to go, I really really doubt that the series will be ending with one more arc... In all honesty I see this next arc revolving around retaking Wall Maria and What lies within the basement of Eren's house.

Not sure If I've asked you this, but what do you think of Historia's character so far? Do you believe the theory that her father brainwashed her? Because so far that's where things are going to for her character to me at least.

I always knew that AoT was not Shounen b/c it is just way too serious. However, before I heard about TG, I didn't even know what Seinen was. I was aware of that genre, but never really considered reading a manga classified in this category. Looks like, I've been doing it for a while now with AoT without ever having realized it So yeah, I do consideer AoT a Seinen although for some reason I don't get that same "seinen vibe" as in Tokyo Ghoul. Maybe it's b/c our main characters are so young, who knows. It might just be subconsciously hindering me from considering AoT a seinen manga completely. TG a shounen- yeah, not in a thousand years.

Hide's not my favorite character, but he might have become one if Ishida had drawn him more often. His intelligence and insight of other other people around him is just remarkable. I would have loved to see more interactions b/w Kaneki and Hide. Although I kind of figured out that it is hard for fans to like Hide if he is just a normal human being. He's neither a ghoul nor a CCG investigator- can't expect much action from him- hopefully that changes in :re.

Historia... hmm, good question. I know you like her a lot. She's not my favorite character, but I don't dislike her. I guess I feel pity for her after everything she's been going through. Lol, I don't trust that King; dunno, but I don't want to believe that Historia is acting like this out of her own free will.

Looks like, I've been doing it for a while now with AoT without ever having realized it So yeah, I do consideer AoT a Seinen although for some reason I don't get that same "seinen vibe" as in Tokyo Ghoul. Maybe it's b/c our main characters are so young, who knows. It might just be subconsciously hindering me from considering AoT a seinen manga completely. TG a shounen- yeah, not in a thousand years.

Hide's not my favorite character, but he might have become one if Ishida had drawn him more often. His intelligence and insight of other other people around him is just remarkable. I would have loved to see more interactions b/w Kaneki and Hide. Although I kind of figured out that it is hard for fans to like Hide if he is just a normal human being. He's neither a ghoul nor a CCG investigator- can't expect much action from him- hopefully that changes in :re.

Historia... hmm, good question. I know you like her a lot. She's not my favorite character, but I don't dislike her. I guess I feel pity for her after everything she's been going through. Lol, I don't trust that King; dunno, but I don't want to believe that Historia is acting like this out of her own free will.

I've got to agree with everything you've got to say. When it comes to people thinking that Tokyo Ghoul is a shounen. Not to be mean to them, but It's funny to even think of it like that.

Definitely, I might have missed this, but has Hide reappeared in re within the 11 chapters we've gotten so far? If not then I wonder when and how he will be reintroduced into the story. Like I said he's got a lot of room for potential and I believe that Ishida will deliver like he has been doing so far.

I will say when it comes to Historia it took her a while for me to like her, and become one of my favorites. However with the way how things could go in the next two chapters of this current volumes my opinion on her could change. She could in fact become a character that I don't particularly care for like I did in the beginning of the series. Hopefully all of this is just her being brainwashed otherwise yeah all of my respect for her would just go down the drain.

Speaking of AOT, chapter 65 should be coming out next week and ugh... the wait is killing me now come on spoilers hit the web something please!!!

Lol, imagine Tokyo Ghoul was a shounen... Half as gory as it is now, and we would have much younger main characters. Don't like that. Also, no offense, but shounen mangas look nearly half as detailed and beautiful as TG. Touka is a legit beauty. Ishida takes care in drawing the facial features while the girls in many other mangas rather are considered pretty b/c of, well, their body.

No, I don't think he did. People on tumblr are picking out some random blondhaired guy and claim that he is tumblr, lol.

I haven't been excited for a manga in a long time. All the possiblities :re could go to. It took a while for TG to pick up, but I hope that a big clash will show up soon.

Headcannon: This Nutcracker case might become the first real arc. Didn't the spoilers say that Nutcracker is doing some service for other ghouls with regards to humans or so? What if other ghouls or even ghoul organizations are involved in this entire case? We might get our first real clash b/w the CCG and the ghouls. I honestly think that Sasaki will not take too long to remember who he really is. What we then will see is the struggle of his true self he will have to cope with.

Historia's actions in the next few chapters will leave a final impression on me about her character. But don't forget there is Ymir. Ymir might bring Historia back on track. Btw, is Ymir simply attached to Historia or actually in love with Historia?

I've got a question guys that I've been asking myself ever since I started this manga:

How do you think the problem b/w ghouls and human will be solved? Do you believe that ghouls and humans will ever get along with each other. I personally believe no b/c humanity will always hold grudges against the species that feeds of their kin.

There won't be a "Happy End"- at least not in this context.

Oh no I agree with you 100% about shounen manga they really do look have detailed compared to TG. lol at the girls looking pretty because of their body, Hiro Mashima I'm looking at you with Fairy Tail.

I believe the spoilers did mention something up like that. When it comes to The Nutcracker case. Honestly if we do see something like that happening between the CCG and the ghouls I'd be like damn kitten just got real, no joke. By the way, Ria told me that she read up to chapter 71 in less then 3 1/2 days, which I'm a little surprised considering how much time she spent less than a month reading all 700 chapters of Naruto. Her eyes are kinda glued to her computer screen at the moment so right she's at like chapter 117 as we're discussing about anime and manga just in general. I mean if she's reading at the speed she is now there's a chance that she may finish it up Tokyo Ghoul by tomorrow night or saturday morning, and then read Tokyo Ghoul re from there. She does ship TouKen hardcore too by the way, and when it came to that moment in chapter 71 Ria told me that she had tears of joy running down her face when she first saw read it.


Yeah there is also Ymir too when it comes to Historia and her character. If that is the thing that helps snaps her back to reality then alright, either that or Eren tries to tell her something which I feel really bad for him that boy's been changed up for like two volumes now some needs to free him. Levi, Mikasa, Hanji, Zeus The god of lightning, someone hurry up and save him lol.

I believe Ymir was simply attracted to Historia, but in the anime they make it look like she's in love with her. I could be wrong about that, but that's the impression I'm getting.

Hmm. Nothing we hadn't seen in those spoilers. Although, I was surprised that the "we're gonna change to women" thigh was at the end of the chapter, I thought the focus of the chapter was gonna be that. I didn't see the order of the scans originally, so I guess that why.

To answer your question, I'm not sure how the two sides would come together. The extremes would have to be dealt with on both sides. The only foreseeable solution is Anteiku's route, but I'm not sure that's possible.
