I don't know how I feel about this movie yet. My first impression was that this movie might take place before the epilogue in the manga, but it's title is what interests me. "The Last"? Why that title of all things? It's seems kinda ominous.

 

I'm starting to lean towards the idea that this is a what-if scenario. Like if Naruto was the last one alive out of his friends or something like that. Something bad might've happened with Naruto in this movie and shows how he might've dealt with it. With all the AU pages he's been doing, it's possible. Naruto also seems a little too serious for him even if he is an adult which leads me back to the idea he's the last alive.

 

I think that's the best way Kishi could do this. This being an epilogue would spoil the ending of the manga and if the manga ends before that, then the ending of Naruto is going to be severely rushed. There are too many things to wrap up that can't be done by December. There's still the Naruto vs. Sasuke fight, Team 7 resolution, love triangle resolution, Orochimaru, Edo Kages, Team Taka. There is no way Kishi can wrap all this up in just a few months and have it come out good. That's why I hope very much this is not an epilogue, for the sake of the story.

 

Kishi revealing the pairings and Naruto being Hokage in a movie would be the biggest mistake he would make IMO. Oh and yes, let's hope Naruto's haircut at the end of the series is not that. Hoping and praying.

Hmmmmmmmmmmm, I have been thinking. His hair style is similar to Obito's... so what if, indeed, like @RomanceGirl said, it's an AU where he's the last survivor or something?! Or something similar to Kakashi Gaiden/Obito's story since he looks waaaaaaaaaaaayyyyy too much like Obito!

I was thinking that because the Naruto we know seems to be the guy who would have his hair similar to his dad. Cutting short means he has a different persona, let alone his outfit. He has bandaged, meaning he's a fighter. No reference. Then when he's in a military look, he seems serious like a trained guy. Not to mention his body tone suggests he went through military training.

I was thinking that because the Naruto we know seems to be the guy who would have his hair similar to his dad. Cutting short means he has a different persona, let alone his outfit. He has bandaged, meaning he's a fighter. No reference. Then when he's in a military look, he seems serious like a trained guy. Not to mention his body tone suggests he went through military training.

Probably, in this movie his friends have to deal with the new personality of Naruto.

Some kind  alternative ending but not what are we expecting no pairings, no Hokage something different . I have seen in some animes their last movie shows something very different no connected  the series and a sad ending.

I actually wouldn't mind a 'what-if' scenario if everything in the Narutoverse went wrong and we see how Naruto would've dealt with it. His personality would be changed, most definitely. Naruto really does look too serious in those drawings ... it makes me feel like something happened to him that made him like that. It would take a lot for Naruto to lose his occasional childishness from time to time. You know he'll be like Hashirama when he's older lol.

 

I feel like I can like this movie very much, but only if it's a 'what-if' scenario where he went through some serious things that changed him a lot. Something Kishi would never do in the manga, but wouldn't mind doing in a movie in an alternate universe. It's enough to make your imagination go wild, but not enough to have it seriously affect the direction of the manga and turn it into something it's not even more.

Even if disappoint you? Imagining that ending was very good in the manga, but then the movie change everything.

For everybody saying that Naruto's outfit in this movie reminds them of Hinata, think again, and quit being paranoid.

 

In his casual outfit, I feel it looks more like a more relaxed, laid back version of his Shippuden outfit, and the next one, reminds me of sakura because of the split in the front :)

Speaking of outfit, that hoodie that he has could say that he will be wearing it and when someone bout to mess with him, he's ready to kick ass like "oh this is easy." He has that look of a fighter for some reason.

someone on NF has pointed out an interesting theory... All this part of the "project new era" could be part of a new arc regarding the politico-military battle between Naruto and Sasuke for the hokage title?

Honestly I can't see Sasuke sitting in the shadows and plotting against Naruto like the way Danzo did against Sarutobi/Tsunade. And who would even support Sasuke for his military battle against Naruto?? 

I see him more like Jiraiya, a lone wandering ninja, but in this case seeking more power and new jutsus to master.

He said that because he wants to erase the existing system(and kill Naruto) and change it. But I think he will let go of this dream because Naruto will make him understand there is nothing wrong with the existing system. That is part of Sasuke's redemption too.
