Yup and also dont expect the lead male and lead female to get together the franchise hates obvious pairs. They like poorly written unexpected ships.

app monsters was a game too mainly so does that mean its not a true season compared to adventure to xros wars? I've been wondering about that. I always thought the whole app thing was weird and wouldn't fit in a crossover with the other 6 well

Has Digimon ever had a good end pairing? Hated Matt and Sora because it was out of nowhere and she had MUCH better chemistry with Tai. Which Tri had retconned that crap, but it didn't. Also, the fact that TK and Kairi don't get together is just bad writing.

I hate to break it to you but taiora didn't have that much development in the japanese version it had more vague hints that they might like each other due to director not telling the staff about his prefereed intentions. Sorato only had subtleness as development and thats it about..... .
And the english dub REALLY did upplay taiora a lot due to the english dub writer preferring taiora as a ship.
I got this info from the strangled by the red string page from tv tropes they updated the page for the digimon section.

ever since taiora never happened the franchise has a habit of not pairing the main male and female leads they only like to disappoint...

Well Appmon was most focus to the younger public and it seems they wanted to leave the old Digimon concept.

See I heard that about the dub, but I've also heard that TaiSora still has better chemistry and development compared to her with Matt even in the original version.

yup even the japanese fanbase was confused as to why Sora got with Matt and not Tai, the seiyuu were even gunning for Taiora

That's irrelevant, it still counts. it is part of the franchise even though it moves away from Digimon. It is still about digital monsters since apps are still data after all

See I hate when that happened. Usually I can tell who the end couple is. If you spend all the time building them up and they don't get together, then you are a bad writer unless one of them dies or something.

Blame the director for trying too hard to be a stupid hipster. And according to that tv tropes link i linked it says that the director didn't want to develop sorato too much because they are too young to start a romantic relationship.... I call complete kitten on this. Didn't harry potter not pair the leads? but it still gave romantic chem to the non obivious pairs? even when there just kids??? i don't even like the canon ships for harry potter but there was some kind of chem with the non obivious pairs and when there were kids and even if it became toxic or lacking in the case of harry and ginny later on as the books progress.

I hate the word "cliche" because even if something is used often, if its done well enough then it can be good. I always love with the leads get together.

exactly. the Director was trying to be a hipster
