Honestly, Kishi's tossed away so many possible endgame threats it's kind of ridiculous. I half expect one of these days to come on and hear Tobitodara has been dispatched of.

Really? At first it looked like most of us were going down with this ship, not jumping off of it.

I don't know; for the first thirty pages or so, Benders "ABANDON SHIP" routine was a pretty good summation of this thread. It took at least a day for everybody to be like "uh, hey, maybe this isn't as bad as I'm thinking". Prior to that it was pandemonium.

Pandemonium which was, admittedly, pretty funny.

First bold: Obviously you weren't part of the fandom. There were two major shipping battlefields -- H/Hr vs. R/Hr and R/S vs R/T. OMG. Even after all these years I'm still not sure all the flames have been put out. NS vs. NH doesn't have anything on those fandom wars.

Second bold: Actually, I think it's unfair to call Rowling "low" for making a clear comment. She was always extremely concerned about her fans, and worried about how seriously people were taking it all. She made an effort to gently set them straight, rather than letting them mislead themselves. I don't think that's low at all, personally.

Kishimoto, by contrast, seems to purposely fan the flames and intentionally create confusion. His approach comes across as very different than Rowling's was. She was as straightforward as she could be without spoiling the details for her readers.

Back on topic:

I asked a question (last night, I think) that quickly got ignored/buried. I wondered if anyone thinks there's any chance at all we'll switch back to the Kage scene now? If not, when does it seem likely?

Oh really? I didn't know that. Huh. I guess pairing war is just normal in every entertainment form. This one is what I anticipated the most. I guess you can say that I really care for this pairing. Kishi got the formula all right. All he needs to do is end it with a bang, or else it will be a huge dud.

I apologize for calling her that. You do have a point though. You know, I am surprised that no one asked Kishi about Hinata and Naruto's relationship status. They only mentioned the original love triangle as well as fans still supporting Naruto reaching to Sakura's heart. Do you think we overract with everything? I don't know, I'll just wait.

As for your topic, well I always feel like if somehow, someway, Madara and Obito get separated, the Kages will return to fight Madara again. Actually, I got an idea. Obito dies and Madara is still alive. Once the Kages appear, that's Madara cue to retreat for now, especially if everyone knows how to slow him down (not sure on kill). We may see people happy, but then realize Tsunade is not with them. That's where the sad truth comes in. Sounds plausible.

On the way home, I thought of something. I think Team Kakashi should fight Obito. Sakura will back up Kakashi for he is still hurt, Naruto wants him out since well they are in the moment right now. I see it like a irony battle and that will be awesome. Kakashi will give Obito the conclusion that we all wanted. Hm, we'll see.

Random note: Page 117. Like Halo protagonist, Master Chief. Sorry, nerd in me.

That's pretty much what you're supposed to do with a series like this. You don't want to give people what they want until the end, or you risk folks dropping out. I give Kishi a lot of (deserved) s***, but I'm certain he understands that much. Keeping drama alive until the end is a pretty good way to keep people invested.

Besides which, creators tend to be fully aware of shipping these days and know enough to keep it going as long as possible.

I doubt madara's going to retreat, and why would the alliance let him and also Obito is going to get TnJ'd, thus turning on Madara. Same here, after reading the platform 9 1/2 and the following train ride scene I knew it was going to be Harry/Ginny and Ron/Hermione, and after the finishing the first book, I got the feeling the relationship between Harry and Hermione was one of two siblings, and honestly the two pairings were probably the most obvious pairings i've ever read.

I also found it surprising how many NS fans were H/Hr fans, and many seem to bash Ginny allot maybe they think Ginny is like Hinata when in reality they are nothing alike. She might have been a shy girl around the boy she liked but we got clues that she herself was nothing like that she was a firecracker, who even her brothers were scared of when angry. Ginny always reminded me allot of Kushina if i'm honest, a fiery Redhead.



Very true, (not sure about DBz as i've never read it) but agree with you about Naruto and Harry, the main difference is that Harry never liked Hermione more than a friend/sister where Naruto always liked Sakura, and never once thought that Naruto looked at Hinata romantically, and never felt Kishi even considered her anything more than a ltot device, but ever sinse the invasion Kishi seem to like to send mixed signals about the pairings, not sure if it's because he changed his mind about pairings if he's discovered fanforums and likes reading fandom warfare so ignites pairing wars every six months or so...or maybe he wants to show Hinata and Naruto getting close and actually kill her off, making him even more like Jiraiya from team Saratobi, and (old) Obito from Team Minato, or Yahiko from Team Ame (or maybe it's Konan?) Not sure what it was but since that point i've not been 100% certain how the pairings will go with this manga.

I'd still prefer NaruSaku as I find NaruHina a bit dull.

I was a Harry/Hermoine fan as well but it wasn't because they were the lead girl/guy. It was mainly because of their interactions and how well they meshed together. While I didn't mind her with Ron, I loved her with Harry. Also, I don't always ship lead characters with one another. In Bleach, I ship Ichigo with Orihime. Again, LOVE their interactions, and the development they've had together. IH often gets compared to NH, and so do their characters, but to me, Orihime is nothing like Hinata and her relationship with Ichigo is way more amazing IMHO.

I've seen a very interesting post on tumblr, where a HN fan says:

I like this post even though the guy states he'll fight for something untrue.


You know, after a week of this madness I now look at things in a simple way again. NS was obvious from the beginning, Kishi stated that he planned the ending from the beginning, so why worry. Just because he might not be able to properly finish his side characters' development (615 is an example), doesn't mean he will change the ending which was planned yeaaaars ago.

I've seen some discussion on HP parallels. (sorry if someone has already pointed this out, didn't read all posts) Ron/Hermione was obvious from the beginning, but when Ron started dating Lavender did any R/H fans freak out and jump ship? I certainly didn't.
