That might be it. But I doubt that Jiraya's feelings were THAT serious. Anyway, isn't this off-topic?

Maybe, maybe not. Nothing stops the imagination, though.

Yes I know that. You Didn't get me. What I was saying was that yes, they had something, and yes, it was Jiraya's regret, but it was too late. Their relationship was in the phase where it's too late for anything other than a close friendship. It was all adult jokes and feelings that were not put to 'use'. It was simply too late to do anything. Sure, Jiraya loved her. But his regret was that he didn't do anything when they were young. My whole point is that even though they had feelings, a relationship couldn't be pursued.

What I meant was that that wasn't the reason he didn't settle for another chick. He loved her, but he had other 'reasons' for not settling as well...

Also, I can't (or couldn't) really imagine Jiraiya settling down. He is a legit Roshi and was pretty much all over any pretty girl he could find. Not saying that Jiraiya could never do it, but he was too adventurous and spirited about his "research." Damn, why do I love pervert characters?

I flipping LOVE your AMV's!!!
Thanks!
As for the current debate about whether Jiraiya and Tsunade would have ended up together if he had lived - its hard to say really. Perhaps if Jiraiya had narrowly managed to survive, the shock of almost losing him may have pushed Tsunade to push for a relationship with him.
I highly doubt that either of them would have made a move to change their relationship unless something happened to push them into doing so. Jiraiya nearly dying may have done so, or maybe seeing Naruto and Sakura come together, may have done the trick as well.

It wasn't dates he was asking for that she shot him down about- she was fine about date kind of things with him- we saw him ask her out for drinks twice in the manga and she went both times. Jiraiya was apt to say something insulting then make a crude come on- that's why she shot him down every time with a punch that sent him flying, he was deliberately doing things he knew would make her violently reject him probably because deep down he was afraid if he made a real overture from his heart she would reject him in a way that would hurt a lot more, not violently, but something along the line of "sorry, I don't feel the same, lets stay friends."
We saw in Tsunade's grieving that wouldn't have happened- she had been attracted to him all along. Yes, she loved Dan, but she loved Jiraiya too. That's why she called Jiraiya "baka" as she grieved him. That reminds me of one of the anime filler bits that I liked, they spelled that out in those filler flashbacks, especially the one that has the moment he was grieving what he thought was the deaths of Yahiko, Konan, and Nagato. Jiraiya is oblivious that Tsunade is hinting that she would like to settle down with him. They were only in the mid 30's at that time so still young enough they could have had kids.
Jiratsu is meant to be a parallel to Narusaku, just like Minakush, and I'm sure Kishimoto will play out the each generation exceeds the the last since he had Minato and Kushina make it further in their relationship than Jiraiya and Tsunade did. Minato and Kushina got together and had a child, but died on the night their child was born. I'm sure Kishimoto will end the manga with an epilogue chapter showing a happily married Naruto and Sakura with two or three kids.

I'd love that but would want it to be some kind of mini arc. Not the whole and they lived happily ever after kind of scene...
give them a last bit of trouble so we see how they would handle it like a family.

I've read so many great Narusaku fanfics, PRIOR to Sakura's confession and Naruto's reaction, which have Naruto rejecting Sakura's first confession out of love for her - not because he does not love her - then to later realise himself, on his own, that she is over Sasuke (action speaks louder than words.)
And it makes complete sense that he would not believe her in the first place, even if her confession would have been done in the right time /way.
It's like someone comes to you and say, here, this bucket full of diamonds is yours. Your first reaction would be: Stop sh**ting me! Does not mean you don't want or like or aren't happy about it.
And personally, from a writer's point of view, I think it gives Naruto a sense of "strength' (I don't know how to describe it) that he does not immediately jump to Sakura's confession. It makes him more appealing
