Everybody just needs to relax and get a little mellow. It's been almost five hundred chapters and everything has been building since the third. Love ain't easy and people misunderstand each other. I'm here to tell ya folks, drama in a story is not the end of the world. It's how quite a few writers keep you reading.
Thank you! That's pretty darn close to what I was going to say. It's so exasperating! And it wasn't a while back on this thread, it was the comments right before yours. Heck you get this same pessimistic reactions when something clearly positive happens- like chapter 450. "Naruto didn't hug her back, he must not love her anymore" I remember that being one such response....
There's also a hint in a few of the comments of expecting Sakura has to be perfect in every way and when she's not out comes the tearing down of her character, while expectations for Naruto and even Sasuke are much lower. It's like in real life how women have to be twice as good to be thought of as half as good. Now it's nowhere near the vileness of NF Telegrams comments, but there's definitely an unfairly high bar for Sakura compared to Naruto or even Sasuke.
Kishimoto shows both male and female characters having moments of weakness and mistakes but to some readers female characters tend to be held to this standard that they must be perfect, while male characters are allowed major flaws with far less negative reactions.
Yeah Sakura made a muddled mess of what she said, but well lets give her the same level of expectations we do of Naruto. Expecting perfect for Sakura is unfair. I like the reactions that show equal exasperation at Naruto and Sakura from the spoilers, that's how I reacted too.

Why yes, yes there is... or atleast I think so.
Okay, we all know Naruto loved Sakura so much that he put his feelings aside in order to keep her happy, and thus the Promise of a Lifetime was born. Now, at first it was mostly because of Sakura but have you guys forgotten that he is doing this for himself also? Sasuke is Naruto's best friend. He wants him back. Sasuke is basically a brother symbol to him and someone he truly cares about.
Sooo, now this has two sides.
Promise of a Lifetime:
-Sasuke and Naruto's Friendship
-Naruto's love for Sakura
So basically, what I was thinking was if Sakura tried to make him forget about the promise, I think he wouldn't listen because he was also doing it for his own purposes also. :0 I think that would be like letting himself down.
Just a quick opinion...
Anyways,
If Sakura actually did turn out to be lying for whatever reason, which I'm not saying will happen, I would not be happy. ._. I dunno, but I think there's something that might, MIGHT surprise us in the next oh I dunno, 1-3 chapters? I have feeling Kishi is going to have something unexpected happen. :]
For now I'm just going to keep it cool, kick back, and watch my #1 favorite couple developed. <3

POAL was basically the beginning of the relationship between Naruto and Sakura, it was thanks to POAL that Sakura realized how much Naruto would go for her. So for Sakura to tell Naruto to forget the POAL for Naruto feels like a slap in the face. He believes that his promise is what binds his bond to Sasuke, and Sakura, he feels that without it, he will loose them both, he just wants things to go back to the way things were, so he refuses to believe Sakura's confession, and ignore the fact that she might have gotten over Sasuke. But Naruto knows that Sakura also wants things to go back to the way things were, with Team 7, and i think Sakura still has feelings for Sasuke, but they have become feelings of friendship, and not romance, so she tried to lie to herself, and Naruto saw it in an instance, he knows Sakura better than anyone.

But the POAL was only about his Promise of a Lifetime to Sakura to bring Sasuke back because she made the request. Sai emphasizes in 458 that it's the POAL that is "like a curse mark" not Naruto's brother like bond to Sasuke. That is a completely separate thing.

Oh I see, I see. Well that cleared up what I was thinking, thank you.
Man, I think I'm just going to wait and see what Kishi does.

He's already chosen saving Sasuke over being Hokage. The confession seems to juxtaposed with getting Naruto to stop chasing Sasuke. But it's a mess because Naruto seemingly has to choose between two very important things to him. One that has been at his forefront since Part I ended (Saving Sasuke) and one that has been repressed since Part I ended (Putting his feelings aside).
It's really at a crossroads because this was supposedly the one person he thought shared the opinion as strongly as him.

i totally agree, i mean love and death dont really go hand in hand each other, ("naruto i love you, oh yeah, and we've decide to kill sasuke" is how it would sound from a readers point of view)

Well, everyone's already pretty much said everything, but I'd like to point out that originally, Sakura went to see Naruto about the Konoha 11's decision (Or so it was said) but now we've got a confession? Either A) Sakura had an ulterior motive to begin with or B) Something was said and she got desperate.
What does that tell us? Well, not much, but we're at least sure her feelings are genuine. I mean, if the manga wasn't indication enough.

Also, I think some of you - not all - should chill a little bit. I sort of freaked out when I read this too, but something tells me... Why would Kishi go so far and make the effort to make this happen? It's not like he cares about the NS fandom - or any other fandom, for that matter - but I believe he does care about good writing. What's the point of using all this paper to draw something that's going to have the rug pulled out from under it?
Some might argue the same for Hinata's confession. ''Why would Kishi make her confess if she was going to be rejected in the end anyways?''
To put it simply, I think it was Hinata's big moment, not NaruHina's big moment.
*Whew*

OMG people are getting way over their heads on the spoilers. On Naruto Spoiler Blogspot they name it Naruto Turns Down Sakura!! Seriously the convo isn't even over! Besides shes going to prove it. I think Naruto knows shes lying about Sasuke, Sakura only sees him as a friend and wants him back, but nothing more than a friend. She honestly loves Naruto. Sai needs to come in and tell Naruto that shes being honest.

Hate to break it to you cutie but you and Sasuke were never close to grow apart in the first place. You loved the idea of Sasuke, you never really knew him, or how he ticked to say it was love in the first place...*remembers her confession to Sasuke* boy did I want to punch her then, prepared to abandon her friends and village for him, wondered what would happen if Naruto or any other Konoha Nin found out about that tidbit.
Well if the translation is correct, I don't really blame Naruto for thinking she is lying, (which she probably is, Not saying she isn't in love with Naruto but I don't believe she's come to the realisation herself on how much she loves the blonde, more come to the realisation she needs to give up on the fantasy of Genjutsu Sasuke, who only really exists in her mind.) The speech patterns and wording seems like she was trying to convince herself more than Naruto about her feelings, and Naruto picked up on that.
She needs to take a step back and really think about things clearly, at the moment her resolve is of a loyal Konoha nin, a best friend and teamate who she wants to save Naruto from any frther heartache being caused because of her promise. Basically sounds like she's doing what she thinks is right, her feelings did not need to come into play just yet, If she'd just told him the Rookie 11's decision and her feelings about Sasuke it would probably be of the better, maybe leave the door open for them furthering their relationship, but and out and out confession after telling him not to worry about going after Sasuke when his last memory of her was her crying over Sasuke. No one is going to beleive you are being honest, not when you were crying over someone else not even 48 hours ago.
If her feelings are genuine or not who knows, but I don't think her confession was.

Sakura: Naruto...I have to tell you something..
Naruto: What is it Sakura-chan?
Sakura: Remember that night we had after I confessed..well..you see...
Naruto: Spit it out Sakura-chan..I wanna get ramen..
Sakura:Naruto I'm pregnant...

I see where you're coming from here. But it wouldn't make sense (to me) to say "...no more mistakes.." and then go to your best friend who's practically killing himself and give him a meaningless confession. I think she does mean that she loves him; she just picked a really, REALLY, bad time frame at which to confess. Then again that's just my opinion, and everyone's entitled to it right

and LOOOL at AnimeLeader's post. XD yes..it will all be according to plan...
