Congrats True! Once again I played the wrong QB, but it wouldn't have mattered in the end anyway - I was dominated at virtually every position. If I get some time later today or tomorrow I'll break down the H&E Super Bowl matchup!
EDIT:
The H&E Championship Game! The Nee-sama's Gama Warriors take on True Miracles led by, er, True in the 1st Inaugural H&E Super Bowl! I am your host Jwolf0, and for the remainder of this post we will be breaking down the position matchups. But first, the matchup predictions as forecast by Yahoo:Matchup-Gama Warriors favored by 11, 116-105.
QB: Aaron Rodgers, GB (Gama Warriors) vs. Tom Brady, NE (True Miracles)
-Aaron Rodgers won't be putting up the ridiculous numbers he did last week at Pittsburgh (26-48, 383 yds., 3 TDs), but he won't be asked to against a horrible Seattle team (

). Seattle is in disarray and is probably looking to just finish the season so they can rebuild. I expect to see a healthy dose of Ryan Grant this week.
Wildly inaccurate projection, 250 yards, 2 TDs/0 INTs, 26 fantasy points.-Tom Brady has a tougher matchup against a Jacksonville team still in the playoff hunt. He has some nagging injuries that won't prevent him from playing, but they may have been affecting his performance; under 200 yards passing in his last two games (granted, Carolina and Buffalo actually have decent passing D). Jacksonville's D is hard to figure out, but seeing what Indy did to them last week I'm inclined to think NE repeats that on a smaller scale.
Wildly inaccurate projection, 230 yards, 2TDs/0 INTs, 25 points.WR corps: (Gama Warriors) Andre Johnson [Hou], Chris Chambers [KC], Percy Harvin [Min] vs. (True Miracles) Chad Ochocinco [Cin], Hines Ward [Pit], Mike Sims-Walker [Jac]
-Andre 3000 is a beast, pure and simple. Miami has a good defense, but their weak point is their 23rd ranked Pass Defense. Houston is ranked 2nd in Passing Offense. Hmm.
Welcome back to fantasy relevance, Chris Chambers! I hope you enjoyed your stay. Dwayne Bowe returned but showed his rust, while Chambers caught everything thrown his way. But Chambers is back to his #2 WR spot on a bad team, playing against an emotional Bengals team that can clinch their division with a win this week.
Percy Harvin is burdened by migraines and the Brett Favre Honeymoon showing signs of coming to an end.
Wildly inaccurate projections: A. Johnson, 110 yards, 1 TD (and I think that's conservative); C. Chambers, 60 yards; P. Harvin, 50 yards - 28 points total.-I expect to hear C. Ochocinco's name called a lot on Sunday, but probably not as much as True would like.
Pittsburgh-Baltimore, offensive shootout? It's more likely than you think. Neither defense is quite what it used to be. Hines Ward will keep working those underneath routes, playing through his hamstring injury
because that's what he does.Mike Sims-Walker... he was so good for me in another league, then went inconsistent through no fault of his own. He's still the #1 WR option there by a huge amount, but the Jags are going back to what they do best - feed MJD the rock.
If this was a PPR league I think True would be doing better in this category, but
Wildly inaccurate projections: C. Ochocinco, 80 yards, 1 TD; H. Ward 60 yards, 1 TD; Mike Sims-Walker; 50 yards - 29 points total.RBs: (Gama Warriors) Frank Gore [SF], Maurice Jones-Drew [Jac] vs. (True Miracles) Ray Rice [Bal], Jerome Harrison [Cle]
-San Francisco gets the woeful Lions, which means the Niners shouldn't have to chuck the ball as much as they have been in recent weeks. Gore managed to get 100 yards on the Eagles, what will he do here?
If we drafted for next year, I would seriously consider MJD for the top pick (my boy Chris Johnson is 1a, Jones-Drew is 1b) - that's how high I am on him. The Belichick plug-and-play magic isn't working so well anymore, especially on the Defensive side, and he gashed them for 131 and 2 TDs last time they played.
Wildly inaccurate projections: F. Gore, 120 rushing yards, 10 receiving yards, 2 TDs; M. Jones-Drew, 90 rushing yards, 20 receiving yards, 2 TDs - 48 points total-Ray Rice hasn't scored in 4 of his last 5 games. Uh-oh. I think he gets a fair amount of yardage but once again fails to find the end zone. Not for lack of trying though.
Can lightning strike twice? That what True is hoping for with Jerome Harrison. This feels like a "Lady or the Tiger?" scenario. You KNOW the matchup is good against Oakland (despite how they bottled up Knowshown Moreno last week), but who get the majority of the carries? Jennings had a monster game two weeks ago, then barely registered last week. I guess with Harrison being the incumbent you could say it's him, but better men than I have tried and failed to understand Eric Mangini. I will say that I approve of True playing Harrison over Barber. When you're an underdog, sometimes you have to pull the trigger on the high risk/high reward plays.
Wildly inaccurate projections: R. Rice, 90 rushing yards, 50 receiving yards; J. Harrison, 140 rushing yards, 1 TD - 34 points totalTE: Fred Davis, Was (Gama Warriors) vs. Antonio Gates, SD (True Miracles)
-I'd say Fred Davis finally learned the playbook. He's done nothing but impress ever since Chris Cooley went down. I'd like him more here, but Dallas' D has come on in recent weeks and Washington took a BIG step backwards last week. I mean, that pick six Jason Campbell threw... ugh.
Wildly inaccurate projection: 30 yards, 1 TD - 9 points-With all the hype that Vincent Jackson got this year, I hadn't realized that Antonio Gates already had over 1,000 yards receiving. Roll on, 85, roll on.
Wildly inaccurate projection: 70 yards, 1 TD - 13 pointsK: Seriously, they're kickers. You want me to project
kickers?Defense: New Orleans [vs. TB] (Gama Warriors) vs. Baltimore [vs. PIT] (True Miracles)
-The New Orleans D makes their living off of turnovers. 37 Takeaways this season for them, and Tampa has given the ball away 30 times this year.
Wildly inaccurate projection: 13 points against, 2 sacks, 3 interceptions - 21 points-As I said before, the Ravens D isn't what it used to be. A shootout similar to the Steelers-Packers game from last week wouldn't surprise me. They'll get their sacks, but that's about it.
Wildly inaccurate projection: 27 points against, 4 sacks, 1 interception - 12 pointsAdding up the totals I have for each side (and adding 7 to each team because meh kickers) and my
wildly inaccurate predicted score is:
Gama Warriors 139 - True Miracles 120But we play the game on the field, not on paper or the Internets. Good luck to both teams!
