Did Nomura make Kairi love Riku? I know Riku loved her.

I meant it more of that sense... so kinda reversed as in both guys love the same girl.

EDIT: I read the KH1 manga a few years ago... it sorta maybe vaguely hinted Kairi might have feelings for Riku, but that could also just because I feel I remember my friend telling me that. Or I could be getting it mixed up and it was they were telling me both Sora and Riku love/like Kairi

"Made in the USA"
B-But they're from Scandinavia? I- I don't get it. What? What does the United States have to do with dragons and Scandinavia? And what does an incredibly crappy song from a crap artist have to do with something as wonderful as How to Train Your Dragon and that wonderful pairing within it?!

shhhh

just enjoy the beautiful couple~

I never wanted to see Sakura be a reward for Naruto because this is his story. I'm not disappointed that Naruto didn't get with Sakura because that's what he wanted and after everything he deserves it--I'm disappointed for Naruto because he ended up with somebody that hardly has any motivation outside him, isn't a very compelling character compared to him, and he's had no development with her outside a few scenes. It's a bland, unsatisfying match up and it makes me upset because it's not just a matter of HE WANTED Sakura, it's also that their relationship was overall BETTER and for me as a reader... Naruto feels so much more ALIVE and HAPPY when he's with Sakura. It's that mutual development that I wanted. Yes, him being with Hinata is not as obviously problematic, but it's boring and lacklustre which is not what I wanted for our main character.

If Kishimoto said, "I was thinking between Sakura and Hinata for Naruto but then realized, he's a guy, chasing after Sakura is tiring and Hinata makes a better housewife," that would be more making gendered assumptions on behalf of Naruto--implying that 1) guys are goal oriented and chase after women as they do their prey and when he realized Sakura was not suitable he went for an easier target and 2) that what he's looking for is a housewife and not a partner that he sincerely has invested feelings for because LOLOL GUYS DON'T HAVE FEELINGS THEY JUST WANT FOOD AND LAUNDRY DONE.

Sexism hurts all parties; it's a limiting factor and look at what it's done to a 15 year manga in the making--one we all love. Both characters put in disatisfying relationships on some bogus notion that love should be enduring. We talk about Sakura, but look at who Naruto got with--Kishimoto implies his happiness lies with someone who never gave up on loving him despite not really developing a relationship with him. We've never seen how they get on just as people and friends. It's so boring.

Also to some people who comment about feminism

and bonus the females are treated waaaay better (as they should be)

Oh man I love ATLA! And Korra even more, that's how I like to see woman treated. Makorra was like my second favorite ship and at one point I though that the chances of NS getting together were way better. I know I keep repeating myself with this but damn I can usually recognize a canon pairing when I see it especially in a shonen manga! It's usually no that hard. I only once made a mistake with HHr but at least that got serious development before the end and I had more than enough time to accept my mistake. This happened so out of the blue and with minimal development that Kishi has to justify himself with a movie and these stupid interviews.

I hope Oda is seeing this and is not gonna eff up Luffy and Nami.

Hehe love the see there are also LuNa fans here. But as much as I like that pairing, I'm not even gonna hope because didn't Oda say there wouldn't really be pairings?

Oooo, I completely forgot about that line. That was really cringeworthy too. But I gave him a pass, thinking it was a one-time thing, clumsy translation, etc. Boy was a wrong.

If I might ask, which line is it that you are referring to? The one about Kurenai and kunoichi in general and their only worth being in staying alive to make babies? Did Kishimoto really say that?

Yes, that was the line. And yeah, he really said that. It was in the manga. If i get time I'll look see if I can find the panel.

Ah oookay I gotta get this off my chest.

First off, the Kingdom hearts love triangle is yes, a triangle, but nevertheless it's pretty planned out that Sora is going to get Kairi. But I'm all down for KairixRiku. That's hot.

And secondly, ATLA did not do a good job with their female characters, especially in Legend of Korra. Half of the female characters in that show were just used for romantic subplot. Nevermind the fact that many of them acted like complete Mary Sues. I still have issues with Korra because I fail to see how a girl who literally went through a huge battle that decided the fate of the world, can't even lift a finger towards some weirdo who claims to be apart of a lotus...like...what. And then her angsty characterization and how she hasn't developed from it. And don't...even get me started...on Asami.... I don't know, I just don't think that ATLA nor Legend of Korra handles their characters and their development well. But the plot of the stories are so intriguing it's easy to forgive.

I think he meant that there won't be dramatic romance like kisses, confessions and this kind of stuff.

The good thing with One piece is that I won't be mad if if my otp cause pretty much other potential pairings have been given enough development to make them possible.

Tashigi is kinda like Hinata in terms of shyness and being conservative. However, Tashigi clearly wants to be more than a baby maker. She actually has a dream and even wants to defeat Zoro which is not easy at all. She doesn't accept defeat and actually has a consequence to the plot. However, the fanbase seems to hate her because she loses and is a sore loser. Its still better than standing in the background saying Naruto kun.

However, the problem is that Oda is not rewarding her efforts and determination with pointless losses. The author is falling in love with Law that looks too much like saske. I am getting worried

I hope Oda is seeing this and is not gonna eff up Luffy and Nami.

Luffy and Nami have been dead in the water like a Devil fruit user for close to a decade now. The last time we saw Oda hint at potential Romance (specially Nami/Luffy) was the arc Chopper joined the crew, when he climbed up the cliff to get her help from the doctor. Oda realised his story was selling without all the complicated romance, so he's concentrated on the story alone. Scenes between Luffy and Nami have been sparce to say the least, most of her scenes seem to be with Usopp it seems.

I wouldn't go into One Piece expecting any romance, that's been put on the back burner for now, Oda's pretty much said the crew is family and that's how I am goning to continue to view them until I see things change.

If Luffy and Nami don't end up together in the manga it shouldn't be an issue because the hints of the potential pairing has not been there for years now, unlike Naruto where love has been a vital part of the story.

You forgot about Sky Island, Water 7, Namis reaction to the war, fishman island, etc. Luffy and Nami are shown to have a much stronger connection with each other than any others in the crew, Zoro excluded. While I agree that Oda doesn't focus on Romance, I wouldn't put it past him to end the series with a timeskip with Nami looking out into the ocean holding Monkey D. Ace in her arms lol but I don't think we'd see how they'd get there.

Also, while Nami and Usopp have a lot of scenes together, they're always comedic. With Luffy, while a plethora of them are comedic, Luffy is the only person that she has scenes with on an emotional level. He is shown many times to be her emotional anchor, beyond that of just a friend.

I am now hoping Oda doesn't put a romantic ending to it so we can do that ourselves. This way we can't break the manga, but we can still add to it and not feel ashamed to add our own twist to it.

Thought I'd repost my response to this from the chapter thread, since this is the more appropriate place for it. I'm so pissed at this and Kishimoto's completely misogynic comment.

Is this for real? I'm at a loss for words at this. Seriously. Seriously. If Sakura were to "suddenly change her heart for Naruto, it would make her a terrible woman"? That is such a sexist comment I just can't even :bash:  :bash: :bash:

But wait, Naruto suddenly changing his heart for Hinata doesn't make him a terrible man, does it? Of course not, because it's apparently only bad if you are a woman. And Sasuke suddenly growing feelings for Sakura obviously makes complete sense, doesn't it? Nevermind that she was barely a blip on his radar before.

And if he decided on NaruHina "a long time ago", why the heck didn't he bother to develop it? Why did he keep foreshadowing NaruSaku, such as with the girlfriend comment and Kushina telling Naruto to find a girl like her? (which Hinata most certainly is not, no matter how you slice it) That was all just a red herring? A red herring is not supposed to overshadow the intended canon pairing, you know. Those kinds of hints should have been directed at NaruHina, if that was supposed to be the endgame. Yeah, Kishimoto was right when he said he's not good at writing romance. He's downright horrible at it.

She is the one shown with his signature hat the most.

Oda literally made the tenth movie dedicated to them. In addition, she shares an uncanny ressemblance to Portgas D rouge in part 2. SHe likely has the strongest connection with him. She knew exactly how Luffy reacted when Ace died and what to do unlike unlike Hancock. Luffy finds Nami's body hotter as well :)

Your status says you're a male so that means your homosexual boyfriend? Anyways I doubt you could truly understand how outrageous this interview is to woman. And wow it sucks that on your only third post you have to see this terrible interview.

Agreed wow, it inst even about Sasuke btw.
Why on earth she would be terrible?

I knew it, since people on 4chan were calling Sakura a slut and trolling Naruto fans anyway.

But really why she would be horrible, it's not like Sasuke needed her.

He doesnt even love her, he's not even in the village, what a kittening joke!

Get a load of this writer.

It went canon one-sided as hell, no love demonstrations from both sides, Naruto is absent with his children and wife i guess.

Sasuke is always travelling, and Sakura all smilling while her husband barely stays at home.

What kind of happy ending is this?

At least i was right that he was a bad writer, think about a slap in the face of the people whom disagreed with me, that completely retarded and beyond insane.
