I don't wanna complain, but imagine how everyone's reaction would be had we not get the 5 chapter countdown notice. For the most part thing would most likely be mixed instead of negative. However let's just take a look at this Final Volume's current status. 

 

 

Incase anyone anyone is still confused Volume 71 is confirmed for release on November 4th. Which means the cover should be coming out pretty soon (about a week or two from now) , and the chapters are from (Chapter 680-690).

 

This Final Volume starts with:

 

Chapter 691: Congratulations

Kakashi, Hashirama, and Naruto give their farewells to Obito, Madara, and Minato. 

 

Chapter 692:  Revolution   

The chapter covers Sasuke's betrayal. 

 

Chapter 693:  Here Once Again 

 Team 7's attempt to reason with Sasuke before he and Naruto head to The Valley of The End.

 

Chapter 694: Naruto and Sasuke

Naruto and Sasuke confront each other about their own meaning of Hokage.

 

Chapter 695: Naruto and Sasuke Part 2: 

The Naruto VS Sasuke Rematch commences 

 

Chapter 696: Naruto and Sasuke Part 3 

Naruto's TNJ Fails on Sasuke and the fight continues. 

 

 

Chapter 697: ????????

(chapter will be out next week)  

 

Chapter 698: ????????

(It'll come out October 30th)

Now what's the point behind the set up I just made. It should be pretty obvious, 691-693 was just the beginning of the volume which leads into 694-696 the middle of the volume focusing on Naruto vs Sasuke. Then we got chapters 697-699 (yet to be released) which'll focus on the final volume's end. Unlike the recent 11 chapters set up per volumes, #72 (Final Volume) only will only contain 9 chapters. We've just finished setting up the volume and getting the main focus across, and now we're reaching the last stages.    

 

 

A few examples of set ups from previous Volumes : 

 

#66: 

 

628-630 (The Beginning): Obito takes Kakashi to the other diminsion for their final confrontation

631-634 (Middle/Focus): The Reunion of Team 7 and their teamwork against the Tentails  

635-637 (Climax/End): conclusion of Kakashi vs Obito and Obito becoming the Ten Tail Jinchuriki 

 

#68: 

 

648-651 (The Beginning): Sets Up The Shinobi's will in order to Counterattack against Obito

652-654 (Middle/Focus): Naruto's Talk No Jutsu to Obito 

655-657: (Climax/End): Team Minato Reunion and Madara Coming Back to Life. 

 

#71: 

 

680-682 (The Beginning): Sets up Team 7's struggle against Kaguya, and needing Obito's assistance.

683-687 (Middle/Focus): Obito's Final Task and Death while assisting Team 7 

688-690 (Climax/End): Obito's gift to Kakashi and Team 7 defeating Kaguya. 

 

 

 

This was an incredibly long post on my part, but hopefully this helps bring some air in for you guys. As for my thoughts on what'll occur for the end stages of The Final Volume, I strongly believe the fight will end next chapter and  Sakura will wake up from her genjutsu then head out with Kakashi to the battle. As far as Chapter 698 goes, Sakura and Kakashi will arrive in the fight's aftermath, something will happen to Sasuke, and some kind of NaruSaku Scene.  Finally in Chapter 699 (The Last chapter) will wrap whatever loose ends Kishi can tie up, and maybe a NaruSaku Scene (if there is none in Chapters 697 or 698).

I always thought naruto would be the sage successor.

I am tired of sasuke power ups.

If naruto don't beat him then rename the manga to sasuke. Heavy sigh......

Hold up........Sasuke has just taken chakra from each of the tailed beasts........the Sage explained that they both need Naruto's tailed beast chakras within him and Sasuke's Rinnegan to release the Infinite Tsukiyomi....... But now Sasuke has both the Rinnegan and tailed beast chakras.....

Could Sasuke alone release the IT after he is defeated and convinced by Naruto?? Maybe after their final clash Naruto would be too battered and exhausted to do the release and Sasuke tells him just stay put and he'll do it himself.....

In this specific fight, it's mostly for the purposes of symbolism. You know, to heighten the suspense of what will happen and revitalise Naruto's long gone underdog status against the only remaining person that's eluded his ideology and recognising his power since the beginning.

Well, you could strip them down to their last original levels that haven't received any outside augmentations. After that, it's a matter of whether you think clones and a power ceiling of 3 Rasenshurikens or an Odama Rasenshuriken in Sage Mode is enough to destroy a version 4 Susanoo like the one Itachi used to protect himself against Kirin.

Yeah exactly!!! Back then even when he said that we all figured that in the end both Naruto and Sasuke would join hands and sing kumbaya to Infinite Tsukiyomi!!! But now it's actually shown to be a possibly and not Kishi talkin out of his ass!!! XD so that's kinda cool lol

That's right there's also the bonus chapter too, and when it comes to it, my guess is 50/50.  It could be an epilogue or special chapter for The Last. However so far we're completely in the dark about what the bonus chapter is.  Which leads me to two possibilities, either when Volume 71 comes out we'll get some kind of info, or an update regarding the bonus chapter in either 698 or 699.

Is it only me or people found this chapter boring because they are tired of NaruSasu? Because I found the action pretty much acceptable.. And the art is better than in the previous chapters... The emotional part was also touching, what Sasuke said about Naruto's loneliness broke my heart, it's been a long time since the subject is brought.  

 

With this chapter, and the quote "This technique shows how lonely you are" (I was glad that there was no NH tease there like Naruto saying he's not alone anymore while flashbacks of the war appears, including 615, Idk why when Sasuke said that, it crossed my mind), we know Sasuke was trying to beat Naruto emotionally since he is vulnerable to that, like JILLYIN said. So, by any chance, do you guys think Sasuke will try to use Sakura's name to do the same thing?  

 

And do you think Sakura might appear there, awakened already? Like, after hours of running to finally arrive (sweating and totally messed up), without the part where she wakes up being showed up? (probably after the end of the fight, so it would be a surprise -the so promised surprise of this final chapter of the series- and we could have the OVA moment) Just assumptions, but a lot of ways of hinting NS in this current situation crossed my mind now... 

I think it is because we kind of got sick of the drama with Sasuke. It seems like 3/4ths of the manga was nothing but Sasuke drama and everyone screaming for Sasuke and as I said, chapter 693 kind of just killed the drama factor. It was just one step too far with Sasuke and the bull surrounding him. It's was just too much and even the SS fans have gotten sick of it. Kishimoto has just pushed this Sasuke drama so friggin' far and it got on everyone's nerves. Now, it feels like everything is OOC for Sasuke. If he becomes good, it is gonna look weird. If he comes back to the village, it all is gonna feel awkward. We also can't call him a true villain because while Sasuke did do bad things, he never went all the way with some of his stuff to really warrant him a huge threat. Yeah, his powers are impressive, but he lacks so much conviction.

Sasuke's story...is just done so wrong in so many ways. It is not even the character set up that is the problem, but how everything is just so messed up and our suspension of belief is just stretched too far.
