Yeah. This is the part that is confusing me with people. I didn't know that "I understand" means "I agree." The bridge scene is a testament to how even Sasuke is full of it as it shows that he thought Naruto was useless and yet saved him anyway on the bridge.

This is Naruto...the guy who doesn't even think Hinata is useless and she has done far less than any other ninja on the field. I doubt Naruto thinks Sakura is useless considering that he just stood up for them just a few chapter ago.

Sasuke: "Do you understand me, Naruto?"
Naruto: "I understand that you are a massive jerk, yes."

Exactly This , Its OOC Naruto to agree with that notion he doesn't consider anyone useless if that was the case then you can just trow all that he learned about having faith in his comrades and the previous chapters when he defended them  into the trash . I wish for at lest to be explained to me how "I understand" means "I agree" in the first place but NO its just he meant that and that's it *sign*

If naruto was agreeing with sasuke then why didn't sakura say what you and sasuke say is true??? Idk....like it's too strange for me to read it as sakura being hurt yet thanking him anyway. If he'd agreed I imagine her crying quietly without saying anything really. Besides, sasuke didn't ask him if he agreed. He just asked him if he understood what he was saying. What...do you expect him to say no sasuke I don't understand what you mean by not meaning to save sakura and kakashi because I'm that thick headed???

One thing for sure sawyer7mage and forneverworld will be bashing Sakura as usual. In sawyer's case whether he really hates her or not, or maybe he bashes Sakura for the sake of getting subscribbers, likes and views to his videos. All I know is whether Kishi gives Sakura the spotlight or not, Sakura is next to Naruto NOT Hinata who is still dreaming the impossible lol. Sakura is the one who loves Naruto and her feelings will get reciprocated NOT Hinata. Also Sakura's head band falling of was probably to clear Kakashi's suspicions, or maybe future development (Naruto kissing her forehead is probably it knowing Kishi always do things for various things.

I dont think he meant to be offensive.
The fact it was true, Naruto knows that Sakura and Kakshi cant do much but different than Sasuke he considers them as important.
Naruto is not dumb enough to not realize that those two people are able to do something against Kaguya.

This. I'm not bashing Naruto either. His thoughts on thinking that Sakura and Kakashi are reasonable. You can't blame him.
 
But at the same time, I can't really ship a pairing when one of them thinks their love interest to be useless, especially when said love interest got really sad from hearing that. This is why, NS moment is the last thing I want right now. 
 
I want this to get resolved soon and have Sakura prove him wrong. Until then, no NS please.

Ive predicted long ago that the bench scene would be revisited, this scene tells me its coming soon. a forehead comment similar to chapter 3. Narutos mostlikely going to give her his headband to replace hers and make the forehead comment in the process.

YOOOO this was my thought too when her forehead protector fell, that he would give her his forehead protector to replace hers!! I don't know how likely it is but I would love it if it happened. It would be sooo cute.

umm I highly doubt that lol. It makes more sense for her thank him for still believing in her. I mean, this is naruto that didn't question her when she joined sasuke and naruto on the battlefield and the naruto that believed that he and his friends could defeat the mighty Madara against all odds. Like...come on guys. Do people not know who naruto is after all this time? Doyou really think Kishi would ask you to support someonewho puts down the heroine in a moment she could possibly shine? A boy who has always admired her and has never been shown to doubt in her skills ? Come on....

As for the people complaining that Sakura is been useless I gave up a long time ago. Everytime they read a chapter they think they're reading Fairy Tail or OP where female characters are toe to toe with the male characters. But this is not Hiro Mashima's manga or Oda's manga, its freaking Kishimoto's manga Naruto. You can't expect Sakura pulling an Erza or a Rukia so please stop you're whining and look at things in a positive light. Like the fact that she's right there with Naruto and not dreaming with the rest (I agree with James about all of them been useless right now).

Reading the chapter again and putting Sasuke's words into sense, he would've let Kakashi and Sakura fall under the Eye Of The Moon Plan if Naruto hadn't been near them? Gee, what a really great guy he is...

My last time trying to explain the situation the best way I can word it:

 

What Sasuke was saying is don't throw your life away for what I deem as trash while Naruto was saying I'll protect those I care for regardless of the situation. When he said he understood, he meant he knew he had to stay alive, but that wasn't stopping him from putting his life on the line to save the ones he holds close to him. Funny how the Land of Waves Arc is coming full circle

If you really think about it. Everyone's development is all tied back to Naruto. Even Sasuke's. Why? Well, it is as simple as saying "he is the main character."

So I guess everyone, except for Naruto, lacks their own light and they all just satellite Naruto. Some closer to others.

Think of Naruto like a big solar system. The planets are most important characters and their moons which are minor characters. With Naruto, the big YELLOW Sun, in the center of it all.

Hmm...this would also tie back into the Heaven and Earth concept. Fridge Brilliance ho!!!

(BTW, Sasuke can be Uranus)

IMO, Sakura/Kakashi role diminished tremendously ever since Naruto came back to life, or even way back to Madara begin to gain control of being the bad guy. It is a fight that takes place to a different level, inhuman-type. In a way, they are 'useless', but the knowledge and experience (especially Kakashi) is one that can be of help in a way, which is why Kakashi stressed the need of a proper strategy to Sakura in previous chapter. And was shown, through his accumulated experienced he was able to save himself by using scrolls. But not Sakura. This is the difference between them; war experience and level of assessment.

 

 

Naruto quote can be hurt if taken solely on that context. But from my understanding in next page and from previous statement by him in chapter 678, it is a yes and no. Yes, they are useless in giving hand for actual combat at the moment. But no, they are not completely useless. As I said, both of them are known to be good in strategy making, apart from shikamaru. That is why Sakura agreeing to Sasuke's statement, but relieve the moment Naruto clarify his unshaken standing point in the matter, by thanking him. And I don't think Naruto statement can cause mistrusts in her.

 

 

But you are right, we have been spoon-feed with too much melodramatic on shipping stuff. I think everybody was dying for a tremendous development from Sakura, but as I said in my previous posts, restricted panel pages, slow development in the arc beginning makes people to have a divided response. Which is why this is called entertainment & audience.

I agree that Naruto thinks Kakashi and Sakura are useful in making strategies. However, this chapter, Sasuke has explained his thoughts to Naruto, that when it comes down to it, he will sacrifice Kakashi and Sakura because they cannot do anything in this situation. This also includes about their strategy making abilities. And while, Naruto doesn't agree with sacrificing them, he does agree that Kakashi and Sakura can't do anything.

 

Naruto's statements didn't cause mistrust since it was true. But it did hurt her a lot. He was always saying how great she was. That same guy, agreed that she wasn't. I don't blame Naruto, but at the same time I can understand how his statement can hurt Sakura a lot.

Are you saying that we should be happy because she gets to end up with Naruto in the end? or that we should be happy because she has manga panel space (if that is the case, Hinata fans should be happy because she has "Naruto-kun" panels all the time)?

I will say it Again "I do I understand what you are saying" is not the same as I agree  its that simple  then Naruto goes to say but my body moves on its own Sasuke was telling Naruto to not trow away his life for someone like Sakura and Kakashi that he has to stay alive  the whole purpose of Naruto's line is to refute Sasuke's whole opinion because Sakura and Kakashi were precious to him   it wasn't about Naruto thinking that they are useless at all or even thinking about that in the first place it was about him protecting what is precious to him unlike Sasuke   also you are discarding his expression he was angry at Sasuke , furthermore Sakura's line "Sasuke is right but thank you Naruto"  while Sakura thinks that Sasuke is right she thanked Naruto for saying that he deem them important she wouldn't have tanked Naruto in the first place if he meant that they are indeed useless that is ridiculous  this wasn't about Naruto acknowledging them as useless or not such a thing was never stated by him . Also what you guys are saying  goes against what he said 2 chapters ago and he praised them  their abilities so its OOC for Naruto to think that in the first place  

 

But here is how Naruto thinks they are useless . Now Will you look at that he thinks Kakashi is great i mean useless right  .
