Karin and Sasuke were decent teammates too and he did care for her before he became batsh*t insane. So I don't really see how Naruto's obsession is any better.

You're right. I think because he's my favorite character I gave him a free pass.

He did care for her but I think it was more of a formal relationship than he had with Naruto. I don't think Naruto's obsession is any better, I just think he has just a little more.. "reason" to be obsessed haha, as ridiculous as that sounds. It's still bad, though, of course. I was just trying to point out what the general reader might think.

Well let's not forget that this is a manga/anime series. Things like that can be questionable to us, whether we like it or not. Like why people laugh at beat up by a girl? Why people like obsessed girl going for one guy and continue to do whatever it takes? Why people like two brothers acting over the top to the point you may think they're partners? And the list goes on.

I absolutely agree. I even think if NS happen in the middle of manga, I think kishi will do casca on sakura.
Maybe temporally kill her and then revive her later. Or
Kidnap her for entire part two.
Or make her lose her memory and bring everything to square one.

NOOOO!! I don't want anything like that to happen to Sakura and all the more she going back to Sasuke!!! kitten NO!!

It is hypocritical to support Naruto's bond with Sasuke while chastising Karin's. But I'll give my insight into why it happens anyway:
 
1) Naruto is the main character so plenty of people (as yourself) tend to gravitate into supporting his views even if they would disagree with other characters having similar opinions.
2) Naruto has moment where he seems to reach Sasuke emotionally (like during the Summit arc), but that only happens since it's necessary to the plot given that... (go back to 1)
 
People choose to forget that Sasuke successfully pierced Naruto in his lung at the Valley of the End, and that Naruto could've died right there if it wasn't for Kurama healing him.
 
And other people claim that piercing Naruto is different, no it isn't. Sasuke chose to go for the kill instead of incapacitating.
 
There's also the people who just hate Karin's character as a whole, therefore choose to criticize all of her including her bond with Sasuke even though they turn around and say that the bond between Naruto and Sasuke is the greatest bromance ever told.

Nice try.

(1) Naruto picked that fight and (should) have been aware of that possible outcome. It's hard to whine when when someone picked a fight and simply lost. If Naruto was not prepared for that he should not have done what he did. Karin was a defenseless hostage and ally. When she needed him most, he tried to kill her. I can't think of a similar scenario involving Naruto and Sasuke.

(2) Many of us who complain about Karin also do as about Naruto's stead fast refusal to hold anyone accountable for anything. That includes Sasuke. We do and have complained about that relationship. And Nagato. And Obito.

(3) I know why Naruto clings. It's kinda sad, really, but it's explained and dealt with thoroughly and he has been criticized by his own friends for it (thought that scene was half assed byself). I haven't damn clue why Karin does and nobody gives a crap. The nature of those two bonds and their treatment by the story have never been in the same universe.

(4) It's more than just hating her bond. In my case, I have explained thoroughly how awful it is.

Let's also not forget that the problems faced by Naruto/Sasuke have been taken seriously. It wasn't just a quick half-assed apology and all was cool and then used for comedy fodder. Kishimoto isn't asking us to point at laugh at any of their tragedies. That's not true with Karin. Perhaps you can explain why it's okay to point and laugh at skewering a defenseless hostage.

The Naruto/Sasuke relationship has all sorts of problems, but they don't hold a candle to Karin's.

to be fair, karin shown a promising change to give up on sasuke.. and yet returned to her comedic fangirl tendencies when she met him again.. maybe that's why people hate that.

If you find that reason to be stupid I won't fight you about it, I get that people want more or for things to be different, as with many other aspects of the story and that's understandable. It's just a non issue with me.

I have been critical of Naruto-Sasuke. I haven't seen a lot of people (really, any) do what you claim.

It's not stupid in and of itself. There's a useful point to be made. What's stupid is that Kishimoto is acting like it's completely satisfactory and it's not touched on again (where as Naruto-Sasuke is brought up several times over the course of the story and actually questioned by SOMEBODY in the story) and this is in-spite of presenting later evidence that suggest that, you know, maybe it's not. Not that it is mentioned, by falling for someone for solely that reason has it's pitfalls: Karin almost died for it, after all. I sense a life lesson here. Not that the author is aware of it.

It's the same reason I argue that Sasuke always changes course before he can do too much damage. It's to shield his character. Something I have criticized. Repeatedly. In fact, I criticized the shielding of his character at least twice in this very thread. And that's still not nearly as offensive asked is being as to laugh about attempted murder. Nobody is laughing about struck in the lung nor being asked to by the author.

I'd imagine then, Naruto's pursuit of Sasuke doesn't bother you. then. It can't if you argument is to hold together.

Karin chose to keep following Sasuke despite sensing his increasing darkness, should we not feel sorry since that was her choice?

But that's why we started the conversation in the first place. Ramenanmitsu felt like a hypocrite for giving Naruto a free pass in his bond with Sasuke. I have seen posts in the past in other places that put Naruto up while bringing Karin down, I guess we just haven't seen the same posts.

As I said, it's a none issue with me. But I completely understand why it's unsatisfactory for you. I get why you feel like that and I have no objections about it.

Well, the only one laughing about Karin being stabbed is Suigetsu, and you know... he's kind of a kitten.

Who has it more right for this chapter overall? Still mangapanda or did mangastream win this time around?

 

Still, Night Guy... (that name is the stuff of legends). I wonder if the attack will take the form of a giant Maito Gai which then proceeds to "dynamic entry" all over Madara.
