Wow! What manga am I reading hahaha! What an interesting chapter.

 

And, on the topic of mythology and religion, I do believe Kishi is mixing up Christianity and Japanese Mythology. I didn't know too much about Christianity, but I looked it up because the Japanese forum believe it to be that so I became intrigued ^^ the god tree..wow! Of course, I think Sakura will be connected somehow...I can sense it coming. As for Sakura in this chapter, I'm sure she's fine. It looks like everybody that still coated in Kurama chakra is fine for now.

Madara's story on the god tree is somewhat skewed, that's my feeling of it.

I thought Sasuke was going to do something, but he seems to still be sidelined in the fight for now. 

So the tree isn't rooted ( see what I did there ) in eastern mythology but western. That being said the tree isn't acting as the christian tree of life but more like Nordrassil in Norse mythology. As for the fruit and the fact that a woman eat it first and then from her a savior was born all I can say is where is the snake

One of the things I like about Kishimoto's writing is that he always gives named characters meaningful deaths.  Even when Kakashi died, we saw him in the border between worlds meeting his dad after a long time.  I like he doesn't just kill off characters for no reason.  As you said, Neji's death lead to plot development.  The Kurama chakra bird was certainly a nice touch.

 

I have to agree that Sakura is safe for the moment.  She can even heal herself if it comes down to it, or Tsunade will come later, and heal her.  Just don't bother with those kinds of people.  What Sakura is feeling may not even be physical, but mental trauma.  Many of the alliance died, probably with clones of Katsuya attached, and she felt it all at once.  Tsunade could tell Kakashi was dead once one of Katsuya's clones reached him.

What a peculiar chapter.

 

It seemed like after Sarutobi freed Naruto, the god tree stopped trying to absorb it's chakra back. I'm wondering if it needed a certain quantity of chakra to blossom, and after having trapped Naruto in it's trunk, was able to get the appropriate amount from him. I'm hoping that was the case anyway, since Sakura is clearly injured, and Naruto is exhausted. Though he at least has the Second, the Third, and Minato to haul him around. If the tree decides it wants more chakra, I can't see Sakura getting away. Unless Sai wants to give her a hand, (that was Sai beside her, right?)

 

On a lighter note, I bet Lee is feeling pretty good right now. He may not be able to use ninjutsu, but he also won't be eaten by a psycho killer tree. Good stuff.

 

P.S. Why does Sasuke get to escape the tree unscathed, but Naruto nearly dies from it?

That was what I was trying to discover. Either Sasuke has escaped the tree, or Obito is controlling the tree, though I don't think so, or it doesn't get near Uchihas cause they have sharingan ? I don't think the latter makes sense, but these are the only three options that I could think of.

And the tree can't touch Sasuke because he's just awsome like that.  But no, seriously, he doesn't even react to this whole thing, totally unaffected, such a stark contrast to Naruto's enraged expression.

You know, I would actually be cool with that. It would be awesome to see him step in, open all of the gates, and make fire wood out of that tree, since he is essentially the only one that can stop it without having his energy drained. Except opening all of the gates would kill him, and I'm not okay with that.

 

I wonder how the other Rookies are doing right now. Surely they couldn't have all managed to dodge the branches... I wonder if any of them actually died.

If K9 did die of leave it ambiguous, then I guess the guys we see will be headlining next volume. I don't know, but I'm sure they're ok. I'll be surprise if one got zombied. I mean haven't seen a named character drained to bone since Bleach. It's kind of freaky to see one. Be glad Sakura didn't get caught.

As for Lee he can open mostly 5 as far as the manga goes ,so he can't open the 8th yet until otherwise noted in the manga .

Gai however can open the 8th but that will be his demise , i anticipate it when the next plot relevance arrives and its nigh.

I feel like this is a good excuse to have the alliance not participating in the battle. Well, majority of them, because I remember I said that all of them going for attack seems odd. Yes, we have a "beast" out again, but the master is still human sized. I just can't picture thousands of human sized soldiers just jump on Obito. So yeah, even if plan fails, still good to clear the house until further notice.

Naruto the protagonist and hero, Sasuke the (antihero/sceondary protanonist/final antagonist) (Sasuke has shifted so much over the series), and Sakura the heroine. Team 7's story doesn't finish unless she is there (not to mention the Sasuke conflict just wouldn't feel complete without her I mean she is impacted by his bad actions just like Naruto so yeah, she needs to live, also the whole 631 stuff kinda throws a bit of a potential hint towards what the ending for Naruto and Sakura's friendship to be, possibly something more). So yeah Sakura has many plotshields to protect her.

Yep i reread again and i dont think she's injured she still has the kyuubi's cloak protecting her, could be possibly that she just throw on the ground because of the god tree attack.
