So what's your point why Naruto hasn't confessed yet ? Besides nothing makes sense right now it might as well be bc he never backs down its his nindo and even the burden of failing Sakura has been lifted the promise might still stand to tell the truth I have no clue anymore . It was probably bc he finally had an answer of what must he do with Sasuke and that is why he's relieved .
Or maybe Naruto has given up on Sakura and seen the true love of SS in this chapter by her confession and he will fix SS up when he brings him back .
That's the whole reason why this chapter is so weird and why I am having a hard time with this.. It contradicts a lot of stuff and goes against a lot of things that Kishi had established were no longer valid that spans almost the entire manga.
Nothing is making sense and I want to know why? What is Kishi thinking? While the SS fans and NH fans are not giving a crap and are too busy celebrating, I am too busy question why did Kishi just practically reversed a lot of things that he established.
If it really was as simple as "Sakura still loves Sasuke so SS is canon" then why am I so confused by a lot of things?
I think there he was just saying that he's not just trying to save Sasuke because of the promise (which has always been true), because Sakura kept saying, "I don't care about Sasuke anymore, so forget about that promise." And, after all, he just learned the truth about the Itachi, so things changed.
That's what you believe, but that's not what it is saying. You and NarutoFireFoxUzumaki both say that he meant that not it is no longer JUST about the promise anymore, but then again why didn't he just say that instead of "This isn't about that promise."
If we are going to throw the idea that "what was said" is not the same as "what they meant" then every piece of dialogue is under scrutiny and we really are lost in translation.
I could then say "Well, this confession isn't that she still loves Sasuke as a romance interest, but rather she meant that she loves him like a brother which would coincide why Sasuke thought of his family after that."
By the way, if the burden that was lifted wasn't the promise, then what was that burden? Because the only burden that was described was the hardship Naruto had to keeping that promise. If he no longer needs to keep that promise, then why bring it up at all? No matter how you look at it....it doesn't make sense.
Yeah I hav to agree. That's clearly a writing mistake by Kishi. The LOI arc established that NAruto had been released from the promise. Heck in response to her bringing up the promise Naruto said that himself pursuing Sasuke wasn't about the promise twice. But 693 tosses all previous development to the side when he mentions the promise in passing to Kakashi. Sure Naruto mentioning the promise is good for NS but it's also damn confusing considering what Kishi established in the LOI arc. Maybe his point is that Kakashi is horrible at reading ppl?

I don't know, but maybe if we did know the answer to that question...we would probably know what the meaning of this chapter was in the first place....
This is either a writing genius or insanity.
