I meant within the fight like "lack of ninjutsu" or "lack of actual ninja combat" etc.

 

I would have to reread that part in order to give a proper answer , which I would rather not do  . But the fact that I already forgot the fight details  speaks for itself about how remarkable the fight was .  Would have been better if at least Naruto had won .

Many would agree. The idea is just pick one the most bad aspect, which is hard to be honest.

That's because that fight was just bad. You can't just point out one specific thing that's bad. Because it's bad in equal measures.

It balances itself in badness.

I guess in a way you can view it as a compliment. It's the perfect balance of bad.

Out of all the fights in this series, I think Sasuke was the only one who should have been TNJ'd, because it was obvious Kishimoto wouldn't kill him. But instead, we got those two barely speaking and only fighting, until they passed out, then Sasuke just gave up. It was just so unnecessary that they should not have even fought after they defeated Kaguya.

Side note; NH fans still trying to use Kushina's last words as proof for their ship, with the whole, don't fall for the first girl, that comes your way thing. But, what's hilarious about that, is that going by the Last, Hinata is the first girl that came his way. So, whether it's Kushina's originals words of not picking a weird one or the mistranslated one, she's still telling Naruto not to go for Hinata.

Actually the battle itself only take 3 chapters. The rest is their banter.

Sadly, you can't seperate it from pairing.
His death allow Hinata to shine and make hyuga relevant once again.

Didn't deserve to die in fact he needed to have a proper ending in his clan.

Well you can separate it from pairing talk but you can say that's the main drive. That said why he died out of nowhere is part of that but even if that's the case, why not do it differently or anything. I still remember how that chapter just have Naruto praised him, only to die in the very same chapter. No suspense, no build, no nothing. It just happened.

Maybe if Neji was a prominent character, as in appear much more than ever, his death will bare a lot of meaning. I look at TG, and I was hurt. Really hurt. Same with Gintama. Here, the first thing that came to mind besides "He's going to get revived" was "What the hell?" It's not the "what the hell" as in "I care for him so much!" It's more like "What was that about? That was random..." It would have been alright with characters that didn't have a lot of character to show off but Neji did and this is what he gets. Not only that but where's the suspense or anything. Again, it's ok with other kind of characters like no background, but he has, so what was that about. It didn't help that he didn't appear as much, so there wasn't any heartbreak. Just...happened.

I think the answer is that kishi or one of his editors thought it would be a good idea to kill off one of Naruto's friends to raise the stakes and the danger of the fight with the ten tails. His editors probably picked Neji because then they could have hinata give a speech to Naruto and he went with it.

Even that one has bigger impact and that was part 1. What the hell. Pain Invasion Arc was the last arc with the idea of anyone can die, before the revival part happened. After that, it's rushed or questionable deaths. I should have know that downhill begins when Jiraiya died. Good character leftover death before the end only means doom for the series.

The only character who can reasonably death is tsunade. Her death will give naruto and sakura character development and kakashi legitimate reason to become hokage. Oh don't forget shizune.
Oh and gai death will serve as rock lee character development.

While neji death will give spotlight to hyuga and therefor Hinata.
Yes, his character is irrelevant in part 2.
I think the other reason for his death because there are other hyuga that can make next gen hyuga (Hinata & hanabi). Eventhought no hyuga ever exist as next gen (himawari doesn't count).
Neji death serve as sacrificial character for nh to have a moment and to happen.

Pein using mass revival is not a surprise since we already have an old puppet master revived dead garra.

True, but we didn't want to think otherwise. We have the mindset of people could die for good. Once that happened, we go to war arc with no suspense of disbelief.

I don't mind with mass revival, but the war arc itself is boring.

I didn't mind that much thanks to the aftermath, but it shouldn't gone that far. Hell, even revive all Namekians back in DBZ didn't even happen to everyone, which again, old series sure have kintama bigger than today's Shounen with very few exception.
