I'm finding it impossible to sympathize with a character whose whole world revolves around the acknowledgement of a pompous douche who can't learn to lighten the kitten up and move on in a world where half the people have a kittentier past then him and learned to cope with it just fine.
Ah. That.
Well Sakura's whole world doesn't necessarily revolve around Sasuke anymore. Sasuke's almost never there, for Sakura's life to revolve around him 24/7. Sakura's love for Sasuke will always be there, because she's loved him practically her whole life. It might not seem real, and doesn't make any sense at all to us, but for Sakura it really did used to be. She can't just let go of her first love, when she too failed to bring him back, and change his mind about leaving. Sasuke is an important character in her life, and you can't ignore that. Sasuke might be a complete douche bag to everyone, but he holds a special place in Team 7 as a whole.
For Naruto, Sasuke was his very first friend/rival. For Sakura, he was her very first love. Sakura's feelings for him changed, in that, she doesn't love him for his looks anymore. She cares for him, and feels bad for him, more as a person. But doing that is very hard for her, because Sasuke doesn't let anyone in, and Sakura fails to understand that. She wants to believe that he can be saved, but she can't help but give up on him easily, because her connection with Sasuke was never as strong as she wished it was. Her love for him is constantly wavering - and when love does that it's not real. It wasn't real back then, it wasn't now. It's not that she's still hung up on him in a romantic way, it's that she doesn't want to lose him anymore, because he's still important to her, no matter what things he did.
There's nothing to dislike about Sakura there. It shows that she really has become a much more kind and caring person to everyone, no matter what they did in the past. It isn't Sakura you should be mad at, it's Sasuke. Sakura's trying to constantly be mature with him, we have yet to see Sasuke maturing.
'cause let's face it: Sasuke's a d**k to everyone - including Sakura.
Why do people NOT ship these two? I just don't get it.
Probably cause they hate Sakura. When she's probably the most developed female character in the whole show.
I respect Hinata, but Sakura deserves some too.

Is it me or do people really think that it is so simple to switch from loving one man to loving another? I have bad news for you then. Unfortunately, it doesn't work like that in most cases, and Sakura is quite a representational girl of her age when it comes to romance. Be patient and give her time just like Naruto does.

Will do. Wont really change anything or me feeling like the way Kishi is setting up an endgame pairing is pretty depressing
I know. But will help with your 'venting mode'.

I feel the same as you on this. If only people look past the pairing, they would see how much Kishi is striving to set the characters (especially Sakura) to be 'alive'. Which means, having the real life emotion conflict as per any teenage girl or young adult lady would face. One of the conflict that would always occur. Things like this do take times.

It would just seem pretty stupid and shallow for Sakura to just switch from Sasuke to Naruto. She doesn't do that. It takes a person time to figure out who they fall in love with. Love happens once every blue moon. It's not a matter of switching, like so many NH/SS fans claim, it's a matter of falling in love. Sakura has every reason to fall for Naruto. It doesn't make her a bad person for having feelings for someone. Not to mention, it's been implied a lot.

Having feelings for someone like Sasuke doesn't make anyone a bad person, but it sure does complicate love life. A woman who keeps clinging to a fruitless love is not bad, but it's bad for the said woman, especially when she doesn't have a Naruto by her side. My personal experience was a harsh teacher. That is why I can genuinely empathize with Sakura, but at the same time I want her to grow out of this emotional slough as soon as possible.

She doesn't love him, it's a school girl crush that she's just not able to shake off. What exactly is it she loves about him?
-his "cool" personality
-his looks
That's it. Hell there's always more emphasis on what Naruto thinks about Sasuke than Sakura. Switching from a douche to a slightly less pompous douche due to how she actually feels isn't shallow, getting stuck on someone for years because you think he's cute on the other hand...
That's your opinion. Devaluing someone else's feelings is an easy path. Are you that old and wise to know what love is and what it is not?
A simple crush doesn't last for so many years. If Sakura were a shallow girl, she would have fallen for some other cool guy ages ago.

Apparently it does. Sasuke is the Channing Tatum of the narutoverse Ofcourse there would be nobody else who would really get her attention like Sasuke did.A simple crush doesn't last for so many years. If Sakura were a shallow girl, she would have fallen for some other cool guy ages ago.

So a crush is when a person loves someone for years and can't fall for any other because of that crush? Even if the person knows that the said crush has his/her shortcomings and doesn't return the same affection? Really? You should research Japanese romance culture in the first place. At the moment our little chat seems regrettably unproductive.

@Pepsi: I can’t say I’m surprised that you gave up on NS, but I’m shocked by the way you say it. You’re very rude in your way of explaining your choice that is to move on from NS and Sakura herself. It’s been like weeks that you were complaining about 540 and Sakura not moving on from Sasuke after the murder attempt, if I understand well what you were trying to say since that time, you don’t care that she’s starting to move on at the current time of the manga because to you, she should have forgot about Sasuke after he tried to kill her.
I won’t say anything to make you change your mind, it’s been a long time you’ve been disturbed by Sakura’s feelings in 540, and no matter how many posters in this forums tried to cheer you up, you stayed on your mind that Sakura is stupid for still loving Sasuke after he tried to kill her a desperate case if she happened to not say the truth during the confession, and I highly disagree with you, but it’s normal, since we don’t have the same interpretation of Sakura’s feelings.
The only thing I could tell you is to reread the manga. In most case, we happen to see it in another light, see things differently, and to have different interpretation.
To me Sakura’s character is beautiful, she represents the hard and long process of getting over a heartbreaking love that put you down through your whole life and discover what true love is. Love is a feeling that makes you always happy without you even noticing it and that’s what Naruto bring to her, this feeling of happiness, he always cheer her up when she’s sad because of Sasuke, the last example being the very last chapter.
But I have another problem with what you said about Sakura. Her whole world doesn’t turn around being acknowledged by Sasuke. She has preoccupations other than that, she has her bond with Tsunade and Kakashi, she has her rivalry with Ino, and most importantly, her aim is not to gain Sasuke’s acknowledgment, it is to get Team 7 reunited once again, and it being happy like in the old times. Sasuke’s acknowledgment is just a part of her character, just like her feelings for him, it doesn’t describe her whole character, it’s just part of it, like her growing feelings for Naruto are part of her. If you get what I mean, Sakura’s not a one dimensional character who only turned around her will of being acknowledged by Sasuke, like Hinata is towards Naruto. I don’t know if that’s what you wanted to say, but if it’s not the case, then I think I should let you know that it is the impression you gave.
And one last thing, if Sakura’s unbreakable bond with Sasuke makes you hate her, than you must really badly hate Naruto too, because Naruto is 10 times worth than Sakura when it comes to his lifelong devotion. While Sakura still has her moments of doubt and in which she sees how dark Sasuke became, Naruto knows it but still consider him as the friend he want to save and is always thinking about him. More than Sakura is actually doing.
Now ship NS, don’t ship it. You can do what you want, but the best advice I could give you is to stay away from anything pairing related and reread the whole manga without shipping point of view. You will surely have a well more unbiased point of view of the overall story.

@Pepsi, I think you need to calm down. Your focusing too much on one chapter and drawing conclusions that seem most likely wrong. Kishi will need to answer to that chapter, the "false" confession, why Naruto likes Sakura, and more before the manga ends, because Naruto doesn't seem to believe that Sakura can love him and Sakura barely feels she has a right to be by Naruto. So, she's gonna need to spell it out for him, why she doesn't like Sasuke and why she likes Naruto.
Like I said, it's too early to start throwing your cards down. We don't even know what the heck is going on with Sasuke or how Sakura truly feels. We've only been getting outside hints and sources, even when Sakura thought of Sasuke there was no dialog, making it open to interpretation.
Look, if you no longer support NS or like Sakura, that's your choice. But please don't spread the negativity around. Things are already rocky with Kishi's treatment of Sakura, we have other ships that we still deal with, and there are enough Sakura haters to last a lifetime. I would prefer to be able to go on this website without seeing all that negativity brought here.

You are partly right and partly wrong. You are right that Sakura's love started as a childhood crush. You are even right that it is shallow. Now, I tell you how things went. Sakura wanted Sasuke's attention and her not getting it made her crave for that even more. In a similar way, her not being able to 'connect' with him made her want to do that even more. Now during her crush, however shallow it was, she wished that she'd get together with Sasuke. It was a strong feeling then. But as time went by and she matured the feelings MIGHT have disappeared but 'I love Sasuke' was so stuck into her mind that unanimously she thought yes she did love Sasuke. Now since she had no doubt about this, she never evaluated her feelings and thus failed to notice that she had already moved on from Sasuke. Her desire to be with Sasuke got strengthened even more when he left the village. And that's what happens with us too. When we don't get something, the value of that thing increases in our eyes ten folds and all the more when it disappears, I need not say. We can take an example of a toy we desire so badly here. We know how much we crave for that toy when we don't get it and one day when it just disappears from the shop we all know how even more badly we want that toy and cry and break our head over it. This is our childhood. Now if the same thing happens when we are mature, we evaluate our feelings for that toy and then after sometime we come to know that the thing wasn't even worth making such an issue of and that we didn't even need it but just because we did not get it, its value FOR US increased way beyond than it should. Same is the case with Sakura for Sasuke. Seeing the object of her affection disappear suddenly with minimal exchange of words made her crave for it even more and eventually 'I love Sasuke kun' got stuck in her mind and as I said she got fixated on it and since she thought she was sure of it, she never evaluated her feelings and never realised what she felt for Naruto. And that is why, when some of the past and the latest circumstances forced her to question her own feelings, she questioned herself 'Do I really love Sasuke kun? Is it real? What has he become?' and upon getting answers to some of her questions she felt ashamed that she loved someone like Sasuke. But like I said, her conscious mind is still confused but at the same time her subconscious mind already knows she has moved on and loves Naruto and that's why when he is on the verge of death or in a critical situation her emotions for him start flooding out, which apparently she doesn't notice or it is more accurate to say she never thought over them or thought on 'Why such intense feelings?' Given the things that have been happening between Naruto and Sakura since the start of Part 2, it is apparent to everyone that Sakura really loves Naruto BUT she herself does not realise it since she never analysed her feelings. Now that she is/she'll do it, she will come to know what the true picture is. Let Naruto die/get stabbed/get fataly wounded in front of her or just make him disappear like Sasuke and see how desparate Sakura becomes to find Naruto. And this is when her true emotions surface without her noticing and when she finally thinks over them, the result is what we all knowShe doesn't love him, it's a school girl crush that she's just not able to shake off. What exactly is it she loves about him?
-his "cool" personality
-his looks

He's not wrong in focusing on one chapter, because we saw many times that only one chapter can have an important impact.
The problem is that this chapter doesn't make things go like would want it to go. To him, I have the impression Sakura should have stop loving Sasuke after the murder attempt and start loving Naruto since the confession. Love doesn't work like that. It's not a feeling that disappear suddenly, because of one event and it's the same concerning Naruto, it's not a feelings that appear suddenly, without warning it to appear (at least in a story perspective and I can say that there are warnings of Sakura's feelings for Naruto).
He doesn' t get that Sakura's feelings for Sasuke start decreasing after the murder attempt and doesn't magically disapear there, only slowly decreasing until it will finally disappear, while her feelings for Naruto start growing since the beginning of the manga until she willl finally realize that she loves him because of those feelings which came to grow in her.

I can relate to what Kishi is doing right now because of the similar experience I faced ages ago, the same like you. And it does take several years for me to look past it and completely moved on. I'd say, even if she does, some lingering memories will be there, not out of love, but out of regrets, disappointment, etc. etc. And this is what's happening to Sakura actually.
But it also won't change the fact that
-Sakura's feelings aren't realistic or consistent for that matter
-Naruto's a silver medal
-Kishi's intentions of writing a good story mess up more and more with every time Sasuke gets a free pass for acting like a moron.
-Despite someone who likes romance Kishi sure as kitten doesn't know what he's doing
I think the others have explain enough POV. But it is up to you to accept it, think of the logic calmly and clearly or just carry on with your vent as always.

You're forgetting the whole reason Hinata even admired Naruto at all. She's not pairing fodder. She doesn't want to be paired up with Naruto or anyone, she wants to be acknowledged by others like she's seen Naruto been able to do. Her character doesn't revolve around Naruto, Naruto barely exists in her life. She doesn't try to pursue a relationship with him, she only watches him to improve herself, because Naruto gave her hope in her life. But she doesn't want to push people to love her, she wants to earn it. She wants to work hard for it. She might be weak, but when she really wants to, she pushes herself to be better and to make a change.
She is a pairing fodder. So you're telling me she doesn't want to be paired up with Naruto anymore? I'm sorry, but are we even reading the same manga anymore? What do you mean she doesn't want to be with Naruto anymore? Since when did she stop wanting to be with him? We already saw what was in her dream, and it was of her leaning on Naruto on a bench that had a romantic atmosphere. She clearly wants to be paired up with Naruto and for you to deny that is just baffling.
The part of her story that involved wanting acknowledgement from others is all but gone down the drain. Haven't you heard? This girl has a one track mind, nothing else matters to her it seems. Her character does revolve around Naruto because when ever this single minded character appears on panel it's nothing but Naruto. You're right, she does want to improve herself and she has. But the improvement is so insignificant that's it's laughable. The constant thoughts about Naruto, the never ending pursuit of wanting to be by him forever, all of that stuff comes out as being desperate for the D. It certainly doesn't come off as wanting to earn it, but more as forcing it. Her thoughts are assertive, and that's no surprise since she's a selfish character, intentional or not.
And so what, if she catches herself thinking about Naruto most of the time? She has a crush on him, she has every right to think about him, because she lurves him. Sakura used to constantly think about 'Sasuke-kun' all the time. She still does do it now, but not out of love, out of heartbreak and sorrow.
Again, are we reading the same manga? It's not just a a crush she has on Naruto because if it was than her obsession for him would be even more pathetic than it is now. And no, I'm not saying she doesn't have the right to think about him. But my god, she thinks about this guy in every panel she's on. Sakura used to think about Sasuke a lot in part 1, but now Naruto clearly takes precedence over Sasuke, that much is obvious.
(Which is why out of all the crushes in Naruto, I support Naruto's because at least he doesn't rub the fact that he's soo in love with her every single second. His love for her remains, but he would never push her to love him back. I have a lot of respect for that.)
That's good. But guess what? There are other things in Naruto's life outside of his feelings for Sakura, so it's not really all that surprising that he "doesn't rub the fact that he's soo in love with her every single second". Can't say the same for Hinata, because she's a Naruto clone that worships him.
The reason why Hinata has to think about Naruto all the time, is because she's not on his team. She can't ever be with him, so there's a sort of distance between them. Their relationship isn't a close one, so she can't go and check on him, or go and find out the details of his love life, because her love for Naruto isn't shallow like that. She doesn't want romance, she wants acknowledgement, because he's the one person she's looked up to since she was a child. Her crush on him, doesn't make her pairing fodder. It just means she has feelings for him.
So now you're giving Hinata an excuse over the excessive thoughts of Naruto, which is like every panel she's on? Ok. There's a distance between them because instead of actually making an attempt to build a better relationship with him, she uses that time to have more thoughts of him. Shikamaru and Temari aren't even from the same village and look how close they are. Once again, Hinata has no excuses, and seeing you attempt to come up with some is not even funny anymore, it's just painful now.
I mean seriously, even Sakura's more of a pairing fodder than Hinata, since she has that whole love triangle s**t going for her...

Wow. Really? Look, I was really enjoying this little debate we were having, but if that's what you truly believe then there's really no point in furthering this discussion. I now know where you stand and you know where I stand, and it doesn't seem like neither of our words will sway our opinion on the matter. I concede.

what you do is like seeing a single photo where something negative happens while the entire album has a progressive history, but as you focus on the negative picture you think that the whole gallery is bad.
Everything in life changes, so does the superficial, change the mindset, change the characters nothing remains static, so you can not judge an entire relationship or a person for a line, is like judging Naruto early manga and seeing that he can not control his chakra makes you think he never be Hokage.
I join up the fantastic reviews in this page and before about the extremely slow and painful process by passing a girl of 17 years to come around and know what's really in her heart .
And more if you wait a couple do not have problems and defects not getting, the characters are full of defects, life and its problems lead to many mistakes, just all the imperfection of Sakura and Naruto is what beautiful and realistic history does, if not all perfect and had flowed misunderstandings if Sakura fell for Naruto from the start and realized all as one wishes, not learn ANYTHING, there would be no story to tell, so it's fantastic this story because there are great obstacles, great enemies, many misunderstandings, many errors , so much pain but despite everything still attached, Sakura maybe still had feelings for even Sasuke but never shown these are big o deep than her concern for Naruto, and her wish for protect him it's amazing! , you can say wherever you want but Sakura is able to put her feelings aside when she decided to go to protect Naruto and Kill Sasuke, or decide to push his dream of becoming Hokage eventhough Sasuke also had mentioned wanting to be too
