Here's the thing:

The arc is a usual Shounen "I'm back from timeskip, so let's show our new strong powered up" moment. Pretty much, they took this arc advantage to showcase the power up from the team, which is not bad, so long you acknowledge that. However, the Natsu's part, while again made to show off, is too much. While it is understandable that he has to get strong because of protagonist's status and the development he went through, it is too much to take out a huge summon that takes a lot to sacrifice and it was pointed out that it's one of the 18 battle gods or God of war.

So when Natsu took it out with ease, that's too much to ache. It was the first ever and unless someone quickly say it's the weakest like power level was 10 and the others are above 1000, that is already burying the concept of battle gods. I understand this is made to show just how strong he gotten, it could have done differently, so the concept can remain alive. Now, we pretty much need a real arc before it becomes too much of a one-shot win.

To me, I let it slide with complaints I have, but let there be a real arc now before it can get out of hand.

I have no problem with bs power ups, it's just FT, so I would throw it away while ago if it was the problem, but amount of this is just unreasonable, and pretty much all people of guild that is there - wasn't needed at all, role of Gajeel and Levy are useless, what is purpose of thier untroduction?

I don't read Fairy Tail Just wanted to know quickly why a lot of people are mad... It's one of the reasons why I haven't picked it up yet. From time to time, I hear people just calling BS on what is going on in there right now.

There's really no reason for people to be mad lol nothing bad happened. The only annoying thing was the friendship speech, but everything else was fine.

Yeah, that's my "eh" moment of chapter than the next one. Other than that, it was ok. If it was a serious arc, yeah...

I'm not mad, just FT after a ray of light went to it's normal "eh... okay, will pass" level of unintresting. 1st and 2nd times of Natsu owning people already gave us all the "WOW" effect we needed.

That's it, only much quicker and no real story development (unless next chapter says otherwise).

 

If you actually think about it, this is perhaps the exact reason why Mashima decided to release 8 chapters in 4 weeks. He probably wanted to get this arc out of the way quick and head towards the arc or at least the set-up arc towards the grand finale. Judging by the pace, the manga could at least end in early 2017, if not in the middle of it. I'd give it about 520 chapters for this series.

I'd be mad about this chapter but we learnt early on the just because the enemy is big doesn't mean they are the strongest, Remember the first Monster from the Book of Zeref? That flute thing, was massive but got completely distroyed by Natsu, Gray and Erza, and that was hen they were not even close to the strength they are at right now.

 

Yeah Natus's power level is off the chart, but that's the norm with Shounen Battle manga's, Ichigo went from getting his arse handed to him to being able to destroy Aizen in few months of training in the pocket diimension. Naruto went from Jounin level to God tier in less than a month (The time between Sage training arc to the end of the war was not that long.)

 

Maybe i'm not mad because after being dissapointed in nearly all battle manga's my expectations have dropped quite a bit. Plus this manga has Erza and she looks better everytime we see her.

I'm not mad because the arc was to established their strengths after time skip. I just think the god of war takedown was too much because this is the first ever and there are more of them. If it was only one, fine, but there's more. Wouldn't that already derail them as threats? Oh well.

If the manga didn't have the habit of doing this over and over again I might have been mad, but honestly I'm just glad it was a double episode and i didn't have to wait a week to be dissapointed with the climatic reveal, because I knew soon as that enemy was revealed Natsu would be taking it down with one hit.

 

Mashima is doing what Oda did after the time skip only nowhere near as well, where before all the team struggled with the Pacifista cyborgs, after the time skip they dealt with them complete ease. I think Mashima was trying to show how it took all three members to work together to defeat Lullaby in a weakened state, now Natsu alone can defeat one of Zetsu's monsters who isn't weakened.

 

I wouldn't worry about derailing the threats, this is a shounen manga and we'll probably find out that these were just the lower gods and the higher ranked ones are on a different level, just like in Bleach, the 1-3 Arrancar were on a completely different level to the rest of them, being multiple times more powerful.

To measure character power level, you can use what is the effect of the strongest attack?
If someone has the ability to destroy the city, then shonen hero will able to do that if not more.
The same goes if the strongest attack destroy a small island like ft or op, continental, or even the world like db.

And maybe on Frosch. I'll wait until it's all said and done. Kind of like One Piece with the prediction of Luffy going to destroy Merman Island but it didn't happen yet that is still ongoing. Future Rogue was vague on just saying Gray will kill Frosch but not sure how, when, and where.
