Lol I'm not falling for anything, I still think he's a douche-canoe, but I'm just wondering the purpose of making that quote in light of all of his other interviews, especially with his alleged red-herring statement. It just seems odd to me, like his ending was just fishing for a reaction, and that he was considering another ending based on the reaction of his fanbase. It's been done before, apparently. I'm still up in the air about whether I'd want an alternate ending.

Until then, though, tricksiemoto for the win!!!

I would not be surprised.  As I mentioned before, Evangelion has like 3-4 different endings, and you can pick the one you like best.  
 
Many people don't consider the final Ruroni Kenshin movie to be canon, for that matter.  (LOL he dies of leprosy what?)
 
If SP thinks they can make money by creating an AU set of OVAs in which they continue what Naruto was really about (ninjas and kicking ass) they can just attribute 700+The Last + The Rest as an alternate universe.
 
I mean, heck.  DIsney just basically erased 30 years of Star Wars Extended Universe canon and said LOL NOPE DIDN'T HAPPEN.  Even though George Fuggin' Lucas had previously said that EU Star Wars was all canon enough.

I've never read of Evangelion, but I have heard about the alternate endings, which is why this thought came to mind. It's been done before, and his statement seems to make it seem that way.

Frankly, once i saw the initial comments and initial rating, i just made peace with it. It's good enough to tell us that the general public gives negative sentiment. After few weeks we will see how it goes against the other movies. Until then we can discuss further.

Years down the road, the author and the producer will learn their lesson. I won't be surprised if this is the start of the franchise's downfall.

The arrogance to mock and mislead certain fandom, the alleged misleading advertisements and fraud, the no refund policy;) all of these stunts will only result in one thing: Broken trust.

Subsequent projects from them will be a tough sell. Just watch...

EDIT: She didn't lie. She promised us the poster, but that's just my opinion. And I can perfectly understand that you doubt her.
