When I start watching Naruto, I just know main characters goes with each other in the end. Usually, I always find it nice and sweet, but you know, it's given. Naruto, however, is something I really wish to see them together. The buildup between them is really well done and realistic for most parts. Naruto is not just a guy who's befriended with a girl and then they automatically become a couple. No, this is a definition of hard work. Naruto falls in love with a girl who didn't like him due to his bad record (prankster). They developed strong, trusty friendship throughout part 1. When part 2 starts, Naruto's mind of a woman may not change (oblivious), but his maturity is there (protect her and keep her happy). His feelings haven't change at all, rather it only develop further. Examples like understanding how Sasuke feel, or the need to protect the future "kings" (reference to Asuma). In part 2, it was appropriate time for Kishi to develop romance, because their friendship was already developed. The next level is romance and it happens to be Naruto and Sakura with all the hints thrown at us throughout part 2.
You see, it makes the most sense for Naruto and Sakura to love each other, because it's part of the theme: hard work. Naruto came a long way to earn her love, yet he doesn't realize that Sakura is already in love. Sad part is that Sakura is in confused state of her own feelings, so they both don't know where their relationship is going. I am happy to hear that Naruto is, in fact, still in love with her (of course it's obvious). The best part is that even though he is sacrificing his happiness for her, he will confess his love to her when the time is right. The time is obviously when the war is over and Sasuke is redeemed. He is a guy that anyone would love to hang out or to be together with. Sakura, as of now, is still confused and now, she's in the process of understanding her true feelings. The whole buildup for Naruto and Sakura has been going so well, that if Kishi DARES to pair them with someone else, then this manga is a huge disappointment. Say what you want, but NaruSaku development is important to Naruto (character) and its theme.
Ask yourself this: Do you think any other pairing will have the same impact as NaruSaku becoming canon?
