It's funny. Long ago, we used to debate on how it works or what's possible. Now, I see a good friend sharing the same view. You're right. The funny thing is that in RtN, I see it can work for both audience. The funny thing is, I always say the end can be changed by making NS canon and it will flow just as good. So yeah, like I said, anything can happen.
The damage is irreversible for many people. You don't trifle with people's intelligence and emotions by claiming that the characters and subplot that was gradually developing over the course of the manga was all just a farce intended to deceive. Even if you were to denounce the statements as the work of coercive executives, assistants, and studios, that would only leave an impression of submissiveness where you can be easily bent to the whim of men interested only in profit.
Still, part of me is hoping that there may perhaps be a rewrite in the future. My sympathies for the manga Naruto continues to this day, even while it's marred by disgust and resentment.
It's always been one Sakura's goals to catch up to Naruto and Sasuke. She wanted to catch to her fellow teammates and friends. But instead a side character that barely existed did it.
Exactly what I was thinking. It begs the question of whether or not the studio/Pierrot were aware of this and prescribed the actual feat to Hinata as a gesture of mockery towards her.
Even if it were temporary... the fact Hinata was gifted a greater power then Sakura while basically accomplishing what Sakura did in the Kaguya battle, is still a kick to the face. But just when we finally have reason to believe Sakura is one of the strongest kunoichi, nope this movie comes and says: "Hurrdurr, nah Hinata's the strongest cause she has real powers and "special eyes""
Powers that were handed off in a half-assed movie riddled with contradictions, asspulls, and stupidity all-around. What rational person is going to consider any content of this movie as canon beside the NH and Hinata enthusiasts? It's insulting just to use The Last and Naruto the canonical manga in the same sentence.
