That's one of the primary faults with this movie that Naruto fans are addressing. It doesn't represent or hold up to the general combat-oriented format of the series. Pierrot must have anticipated that the long-time viewers motivated to watch the series for its action might not feel as inclined to attend the premiere of a film that's so disjointed with the manga that you begin to question whether or not it's actually part of the same narrative outside of backdrop, characters, and brand.
Even if you judge it purely as a standalone film that's labeling itself as a romantic drama, it fails to meet up to exclusive standards which Pierrot and Kishi were giving so much emphasis to. When your distanced gimmick of a plot concept has only a mediocre-at-best execution in the eyes of viewers, you know something is wrong. But I hope the viewers and fans don't acknowledge The Last in a way that endorses Pierrot's wishes. Criticise for what it is, a horrid betrayal of the manga and even the anime containing everything that never existed or was foreshadowed or supported in this story.
Exactly, I remember when it came to the whole moon falling from the sky synopsis my immediate reaction "Oh kitten is Kaguya going to somehow return from that other dimension and get revenge while redeeming herself as a villain." Kishi is great when it comes to villain motivations and stuff, thought Obito's is kinda controversial to people in the fandom, but you get the point. "Why is Naruto's hand bandaged up? What caused his hand to end up in that condition? There was just a lot of mystery surrounding it.
That synopsis by itself did not indicate huh "this feels like a shoujo." no it felt like alright "moons falling doing, there's some bad guy involved with it and elaborate plan hopefully ,and Konoha will do what it takes to stop it." At that time it had the shounen vibe to it, and at that point people were like "Alright let's pre-order the tickets now before it's too late."
Character designs, no big deal, aside from people complaining about a few designs mainly Naruto. I didn't find it that big of a deal.
Then it came to the scarf and I was like "I swear to god this better be there for design purposes." and then come November and kitten started to get real. Suddenly my expectations went from "Wow I really wanna see this" to "Um.. now I'm just scared.." and now with the movie's release and based on what I'm hearing, "God damn to think I got hyped up for this."
The movie had gone from shouen and slowly became a shoujo as the days passed by. You know what I'm happy it turned out this way because SP and Kishi need to understand what they've done is kitten. Now don't worry I know they're not going to admit, but Jump Festa is coming up pretty soon and wooh I can't wait to hear the response when it comes to the Fans and Kishi.
