I think he just is split personality. I don't think he's two different people smashed together, it doesn't seem likely for there to have been more than one Zetsu...ever. Look at the guy XD

I just feel like commenting : I know Karin is supposedly important to the main story but... aside from aiding Konoha with info on Sasuke, Madara, and etc, how is she otherwise important? ... I do see where the whole Suigetsu and Juugo aren't important is coming from... though.

Maybe important character drama-wise, who knows. She might cut a deal that allows her Konoha citizenship in exchange for her cooperation bringing in Sasuke or the rest of the members of Akatsuki.

She was used to really directly show Sasukes fall into darkness, through her sensor abilitiy, and more importantlty in the end when she was shown to have helped him to push danzo with her intellect, she was taken hostage. this is where Sasuke finally takes someone who legitamately cares for him and just discards them like trash. It is this contradiction between the dark sasuke who nearly killed her, and the warmer driven Sasuke who first put team Hawk together that she was used to showcase.

In the end I have a strong feeling that she well be a big part of Sasukes final redemption along with naruto and sakura.

I'm going to disagree with you. Karin's part in Sasuke's life has already been played. She no longer has any (did she have any to begin with?) influence on Sasuke's action. In fact there has only been one female character that's had any influence on Sasuke's actions and it was Sakura back in Part I. Sasuke's always treated Karin to a lesser degree like he treated Sakura, with mild tolerance. There was a time when she was considered a part of his Team Hawk thing where she actually matter, but that time has long been gone.

When he tried to kill her, he basically grouped her in the rest of the people in that ever growing list of possible future targets from him.

I will have to agree with you James among the members of the rookie 9 which they're all secondary characters. The only character with a lot of importance to the story is Shikamaru. Karin is also another secondary character who is very important to the story too. They had important roles to play in the future that's why Kishi focus on them a lot. The fact that he doesn't focus too much on the rookie 9 with exception of Shikamaru means that he doesn't have anything important or relevant ahead for them in his manga. That also includes Hinata and possibility of her getting an answer about her confession from Naruto.

Did evey memebr of Sasuke's team hold a contection to Part 1?

We knoiw Karin was in the Woios during the Chunin Exams.

Jugo was friends with the b one guy from the retreval arc I think.

and water boy got the sword.

Jugo was friends with Kimimaro because he was the only one who could control his rage, he became loyal to Sasuke because Kimimaro told him about him being Orochimaru's new body as well that Sasuke is the only thing he has of Kimimaro.

Suigetsu (resembles Sai's best friend and brother this hasn't been confirmed yet but who knows maybe he really is Sai's long lost friend, Kishi migh reveal it in the future) I believe Yamato during the search for Sasuke at Orochimaru's hide out told Sai that his friend was killed by Orochimaru so it could be true.

Actually I have the feeling that Karin will end up joining Konoha or more precise the Interigation department, wasn't she the warden or something at one of of Orichimaru's prisons? So unless she wants to co-operate with Ibiki they won't get much information out of her., she's shown this chapter she's not easily intimidated. Add her ability to detect Chakra, you have yourself a lie detector.

I can also see her joining forces with Anko to track down Kabutomaru. Infact put her together with Team Kurenai and you have the ultimate tracking team.

Edit: Graven according to NaruWikia, Shin died from a decease, not killed by Orichimaru. but wiki has been known to be wrong.

To be honest about that, I hope Ibiki puts the fear of god into her or something. Because it's like no one fears Konoha Ninjas. I was actually irritated how Karin's interrogation went. I mean a teenager basically joked Konoha Interrogation squad. What kind of credibility do they have as a fearsome Ninja village if they can't even break a former Sasuke fangirl.

Granted she was in Akatsuki by association with Sasuke. But aren't the Konoha interrogation squad supposed to be good at their job? Or is it normal practice to take lunch orders from prisoners?

Dude, if I was ever a Missing Nin, I want to be captured by Konoha. I have the best chance of survival that way. They won't kill you, everyone's a freakin' pacifist. That is unless Kakashi comes after you, then you're f**cked. But if Naruto is there, you're fine. All you have to do is, if the fight turns out badly, start spouting off how you're village hated you making you an outcast and this is you're way to finally seek revenge. Kakashi, Sakura, Sai and Yamato won't buy it, but it gets Naruto hook, line, and sinker every time. ^^

I highly doubt Karin is planning to betray Konoha after what Sasuke did to her not to mention what she said at 485 that she's done with him. She's very well aware that if it wasn't for Sakura to arrived at the nick of time she would have been killed by Sasuke. Right now her best bet to survive is helping Konoha she knows if she leaves the village the chances of her getting hunt down by ANBU or even Sasuke and Madara are very high, she's not stupid.
