New rumors are surfacing...

PS3 slim starting production and will enter the market in August. Sony just signed contracts with two Chinese manufacturers.

Eh, I'd rather not buy it anyways, my PS3 may not have much GB space left, but it's still going on strong!

Apparently that's only the top half.

Still ugly though.

I'd probably choose the slim PS3 over the George-Foreman-grill-sized console I've got now, if not for the backwards-compatability issue.

On a similar PS3 (and 360) note, any fighter fans familiar with BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger?

Made by the Guilty Gear guys, according to my buddy back home who's been talking the game up. Looks like a lot of fun

oh and another question, has anyone here played the Grandia series? I've heard the next two aren't really up to par with the first one, so I'd totes appreciate it if someone could lemme know if GII & III are worth the play wow.png

oh fudge also XD is FFIX worth a shot? I hear it's underrated.. and then sometimes I hear it's surpasses alot of games, even FFVII. Hmmmmm!

From what I remember, Grandia II wasn't as good as the first, but still probably worth a play-through if you liked the first. GIII was forgettable - the characters weren't that exciting, and the plot was really cheesy and dull. The only part I did like was the battle system...

FFIX is often overlooked as far as psx rpgs go, IMO. Definitely worth playing if you like final fantasy

Apparently Sony is filing a patent to secure a program for running PS2 games on the new Cell chips...

>_>

For backwards compatibility or for online PSN sales? We'll know soon.

I'm keeping an eye on that, too! Of course, I won't hold my breath for the hope that my PS3 will be able to play PS2 disc games... It's most likely online sales, they'd make more money for Sony than the used game market does for them (which is zero).

Looks like the PS2 Slim will still have a space in my TV stand.

Yeah, looks like my PS2 classic will stay on my tv stand as well. Unless they're integrating that into a future firmware upgrade for backwards compatibility, I'm keeping my PS2.

I've my psx ready and warm. What RPG vidja gaems do you recommend? |D

I'm interested in what H&E has to offer

oh and so far:
[x] Grandia
[ ] Legend of Dragoon

Well... I can suggest a few like the FF Series though you probably already know it... some others that I can suggest are:

Star Ocean: The second Story although technically its more like semi-RPG rather than RPG coz depending on the gameplay you can move the characters freely during battle (better if you're controlling melee character coz it makes you easier to evade enemy attacks) or making them stay in 1 spot and blasting away (Better for magic-based ones for
obvious reason that I won't bother to explain)

Legend of Legaia great story, unique gameplay and decent graphic for a PSOne/PSX. The only thing that is remotely annoying is that you have to try to find the moves/combos by trial and error (at least for the normal combos) unless you have a game guide next to you as you play and that some of the skill books for the hyper combos are kinda hard to find although most of them are quite worth it.

Tales Series while the quality of Tales of Destiny is quite.... questionable by today's standard, the game itself is quite decent with real time fighting and all that stuff and I quite like the story too. Same goes for Tales of Eternia.

I played Grandia II and finds its quite good, granted I never play the first one so I can't really compare them. but if you want me to compare it with Grandia III, then I will have to say that III is quite a disappointment as the way I see it, III is basically II with just different name and story, the characters are pretty much have the same attitude, fighting style, etc. I still find III much more enjoyable than Xtreme though...

hmm... seeing that you gonna compare FFIX too FFVII, I might as well compare it along with FFVIII. The way I see it, if you're looking for story-wise, FFIX has the best story-line between the three imo as the story is much more complicated than it seems at first glance while the story for FFVII and VIII are pretty much straightforward and dare I say, pretty boring as you can pretty much guess the ending after playing about 1/2 way. Gameplay-wise, all 3 are pretty much the same with a few difference like FFVII got the Materia System, FFVIII got the GF System and FFIX has the Equip-Skill Mastery-System. But if you're looking for battle-wise I say you'd better be prepared for dissapointment for FFIX, the reason? this is why: There's no multiple damage skills, like... Cloud has Omnislash, Squall has Lionheart, Zidane Nonewhatsoever which makes it totally hell to kill the last boss coz the most damage you can do with 1 skill is 9999 not 9999 times X (x is a variable number, don't ask).

no wonder the characters look pretty damn similar with Guilty Gear... well... if the game holds the same quality to guilty gear then I guess we can look forward to it in the future it does look pretty damn fun, gotta love the air combos tongue.gif

Same here... though I prob won't ever throw away my PS2 Slim even if theres a backward compatibility in the future, it has serve me way too long for me to just throw it away ^^

I had two, both modded. I gave the one that couldn't run PS1 classics away.

FINALLY, I'm getting close to the end of "Star Ocean: The Last Hope"! 70 hours of gameplay so far... @_@

Definitely going to put up a review when I finish. I've heard there's an endgame similar to Infinite Undiscovery - clear the game, and you'll reload at the final boss, remaining free to finish off any side quests you didn't do, maybe get a few extra things as well! It'd also be great to make those epic weapons, too.

Ooh, those damn teasers at Bethesda! XD, thanks Cloud, though I think I'm just gonna buy GotY edition, depends on what my brother and I decide on at least....

In another note, anyone got Ghostbusters game? I played the demo and I think it seems too interesting to ignore. The only issues I've heard is the short length and stiff character animations.

The only bright part is that Broken Steel'll go first, so at least the ones who do download it won't have to wait for the Level cap....but, ugh, looks like I might be able to persuade my brother to sell some games and possible preorder it... dry.gif
Hopefully, it doesn't change the status of the GotY release, or I'll be most displeased, more than I am now.

I'll drop money on it when they start dropping the price like they did with Halo 3 Legendary Edition. Those, at the end, came out to be 49.99.
