They started planning for it in season 2 (when Sophie Turner was still a young girl) and have made jokes about it on set appently. Sophie Turner has said in interviews that Alex Graves told her she would be getting a “love interest” – yes he apparently called it that. And she has also said she got a congratulations on your fake wedding card. ‘Though they did not send one to Iwan (that would probably have been distateful). Do they know enough about all the women who work for them to be sure none of them have been a victim of sexual abuse (1-4/1-5 women)? Or did they just find it funny. Things like this, which really happen to people like me, is a joke to them. A JOKE! How is this not considered inapropriate behaviour at work? But then we’ve seen what happens to people who dare to disagree with D&D, they want to write them out more and then joke and laugh about that in a public forum, on video. Who would risk their job rather than keeping their mouth shut?They are oh so professional. They need sensitivity training, like anyone else who pulled this crap AT WORK, from a position of power even. It’s beyond.

I'm thinking a lot about Sansa's storyline and I'm convinced:

 

Book/Show Spoilers

D&D are terrible writers. One minute, Sansa is acting like Jeyne. She is an abused, raped, and terrified woman begging Theon for help. The next minute, she's insulting Ramsey for being a bastard and picking up some sort of sharp object. It's inconsistent and it's bad writing. I don't think Sophie Turner understands her character and I don't think D&D understand and/or care about her. It's really quite sad.

 

Some additional thoughts:

 

More Things!

 

1: I don't know how anyone could look at Brienne's storyline and call it an improvement over A Feast for Crows. At least in the book we get to see what happened in the Riverlands as a result of the war. Now, she's standing and staring at Winterfell. It's terrible.

 

2: Jaime Lannister has been turned into an absolute worthless character. His redemption arc in the books was great. Now, he's like a dad in some terrible CBS rom-com comedy trying to stop his daughter from dating the bad girl.

 

3: Glad they got more gratuitous and unnecessary nudity in this episode. There's no need for Tyene to take off her clothes beyond the requisite need for the frat boy producers to force kittens down our throats. It's tiresome at this point. 

 

4: Why wasn't Arya included in an episode called "The Gift?"

Sansa's part in afFc ended in the fourth season no way to adapt further than that without spoiling TWOW
And as far as we know in TWOW , GRRM might make Sansa go to the north, which will basically destroy the argument that the producers made thia just to use a (non explicit) Sansa sex scene for the storyline
It's already known they are trimming storylines for the sake of the series, a 1:1 adaptation of ASOIAF is impossible due to TV and budget limitations, thus Sansa going north already could very well be one of these cuts to the book content

Rape doesnt make a person weak or weaker
Sansa still has her wits with her ( scene where she discovered Ramsay's weak point) but its pratically useless in her situation right now, asking for help would be a normal thing tbh
I think the only area they're really failing on the show is in Dorne tbh

1- Her storyline is by far the worst in Feast until the end, though we got some plus points
I will wait until the end of the season to analyse her role in the season itself, though I really dont like it right now
the last episode is called "Mother Mercy" (one of LSH nicknames) , this gives me some kind of hope

2-I agree, but his character should get a good development at the end of this seasons, right now we can only hope the dorne storyline gets better

3- This is GOT, nudity is expected
As it is GRRM kitten,sex, and food scenes descriptions in ASOIAF

4- Idk
but the name made sense considering
Littlefinger's " gift " to Olenna
Jorah's "gift" to Dany

I think Sansa insulting Ramsay was D&D's way of making her the strong, new woman they're telling us she's become. Her snappiness should've gotten her killed. Her acts of rebellion are supposed to be subtle and undetected, and she's supposed to know how to play along with her enemies. In King's landing she did, now they're just trying to make her a strong female character who has to "deal" with rape ~ and that's literally a quote from one of the directors/producers.

Well we all know what happens to Jon. I think his arc is the only one D&D has managed to not kitten up from the books actually. I think it's because he's an underdog white male, perfect character for their agenda.

 

You know if the Boltons beat Stannis I'll be pissed. Screw Ramsay's 20 good soldiers. But episode 9 is the biggest, most violent of every season, so I think there'll be a battle. This also ties with another character, Sansa, who still needs to be saved and then Brienne will clash with Stannis.

 

No rape in this episode tho. :))) How nice of them. :)))) The only thing that irritated me was that Arya is now Lana, why not Cat?

The change to Lana really frustrated me for a whole slew of reasons. Most of all, they've completely cut away all the subversive ways in which Arya maintains her Stark identity. First they screw up the meaning of "Needle" by saying it's about revenge and not "Jon Snow's smile." Then they cut out her relationship with Nymeria. Now they change her name when she chose Cat to honor her mother.

 

My only complaint about the handling of Jon's storyline is:

The reliance on Olly has changed the motivation for Jon's stabbing. In the books, the Night's Watch are upset about all the Wildling's, but they're also concerned about food reserves with winter coming. More importantly, they only act on Jon after he reads the Pink Letter and decides to intervene in the politics of the realm by marching on Winterfell. In the show, the repeated use of Olly is setting it up as "how could you side with the Wildlings."

 

Both work, and I've largely enjoyed the stuff at the Wall, but I prefer the more complex portrayal.

Good point!

I hadn't thought about that. Makes me think Olly will be the one to stab Jon, and then others will join him. Yeah, it's really upsetting how they are simplifying Jon's downfall.

 

On the other hand, my favourite parts of the episode were Dany and Tyrion's moments, Tormund's pretty Jon Snow jokes, and I really liked the wildling lady Karsi even though she died 15 mins later.

Yeah I've read what's supposed to happen in the books, especially with Jon snow unfortunately 😞 but if it were me since the TV show and books are starting to line up with each other and god knows when the next two books would come out, I would at this point in time diverge the TV shows story line from the books story line.

The show is getting so much popularity right now and passing its original story plot in the books that it should feel I guess "natural" for George R.R Martin and the fan base to mainly focus the Shows development and keep the track going to see where it goes towards its End.

If this were the case to happen, for me I would leave the Season 5 finale with a shocking ending that tells the fans it is taking a new direction from the books at this point. For example jon snows stabbing in the books....

For the S5 finale the last 10 minutes i would like to see Jon snow and Ser Alliser at the top of the wall discussing their views for the up coming war against the white walkers and the future of the wildlings. Differences of opinion will occur but ultimately Jon stating that this is the best path to winning and with Ser Alliser agreeing.......until he tells Jon that he won't live to see it. And from their Alliser backstabs Jon with a small knife, takes long claw and pushes Jon off the edge of the wall north side, with Sam coming in just to see his friends demise. Alliser goes towards Sam and says that this was best for the future of the nights watch and saying that he would now be taking the lord commander position and that he doesn't need any witnesses to what he just did. With that just about he was to strike down Sam with long claw they both hear the shriek of a raven or multiple Ravens coming from the edge of the wall and dropping down in a cluster and begin forming into first Jon down on the ground exhausted and the Ravens turning into Bran Stark. From there both Alliser and Sam are shocked to what they both witness to eventually Jon being surprised and show ending with bran saying something along the lines of "Not Today!".

Think fans would like that??
