For those who don't know already, Shingeki season two has been confirmed to be in pre-production. I would guess that it will air around fall/winter 2015 at the earliest, considering the manga is released monthly and season one covered up to 33 chapters.
am I the only one who ships Annie x Eren?I haven't read the manga but I really like the anime, and hope it continues to another season. I also like Eren and Armin's friendship more than Eren and Mikasa's simply because I don't find her to have a lot of depth. She seems to be the generic badass who otherwise doesn't really say much, and only really shows any character when its in regard to Eren. The one time I think I liked her character was after she thought Eren died and decided not to give in to despair, but to keep fighting. I had expected that she would have broken down with how obsessed she was with him, but she actually showed strength. Maybe it's different in the manga? IDK, I know she's popular so I'm not writing her off as a bad character she's just not the type that appeals to me.
and yes, I know Eren x Mikasa is probably going to happen
I think one thing that we, as a western audience, have to consider is that Mikasa's character is built around Japanese values (which also really lines up with her being the token Asian in a German/European-inspired society), where they value that level of devotion, while in the west we may see her as a satellite character who isn't very dynamic. As someone who's currently reading the manga, I can definitely say that she's starting to show a bit of improvement in terms of being an independent character, and I think she has a lot of potential. Anyway, my point is that no one by all means should be obligated to like Mikasa, but again, this is just something to consider before calling her an obsessive stalker or something. (I think this trope explains her character best)
I personally think she's a more interesting character than Levi, who I find the "badass but dull" character in the story. If Mikasa never had that extent of devotion to Eren, then she would be a character with less depth. The devotion she has is what saves her from being the typical badass, showing that she is, in fact, not a perfect character. Levi is someone I don't find any flaws in. The only thing I find interesting about him is the fact that he's a clean freak, which is not meant to be taken seriously and has no impact on the story whatsoever, since it's simply a character trait.
