Seriously they really are blind if they think sakura isn't the most popular female character in naruto and has a huge fanbase in japan, kishimoto-sensie's main fanbase. Honsetly, they aren't true naruto fans because they're practically bashing the main heroine of the series who has had AMAZING and deep emotional development, both romace-wise , character-wise and-power wise, and the love interest, Haruno sakura, of the main hero, Uzumaki Naruto. That alone is an insult to kishimoto-sensie's work. Not to mention they rub off the japanese culture, which is important to know if you wanna 100% understand the details of the manga.

Ok so as we all know, we've been fixing biased translations such as the 2010 interview. We've also said that sakura is considered a symbol of beauty in japan. where's the source that say's sakura's a symbol of beauty in japan? not that im doubting it.

So i've been curious lately, how do we know all this stuff? i mean, wheres the source of it all? i went and googled the 2010 interview and all im getting is the biased translations-and before you get irritated and say we've discussed the interview many times-i know, i know the correct translations provided by chatte, the part where kishi says that sakura is the heroine and hinata isn't and that sakura is ready to show that side from now on, but this part the part where kishi says, "sakura says she loves sasuke but naruto's close" <--- ok that right there doesn't make sense, sakura didnt say she loved sasuke, she confessed to naruto, and kishi said she was being honest, then we have kishi say sakura loves sasuke judging from her speech? see thats just contradicting right there, so i think we mistranslated that part right there.

So what im trying to say is, how do we know our translations are correct and all the interviews on the internet are the biased translations?

Could we be THAT right, and the others are wrong?

Well... since the raws are out there and we have many translators, that's how we know we are right.

The part with Kishi saying she says she loves Sasuke. Well, you mustn't forget that she confessed to Sasuke as well, back in part 1 so it could be tied to that.

Hello! I can answer some of these. I do not have it in front of me but I do remember the "Sakura says she loves Sasuke but Naruto's close". This makes sense to me. Kishi is saying that although Sakura says she loves Sasuke, it is Naruto who she is close to (as a person/friend and physically there). It is related how you grow close to someone who is always with you, even if you already have feelings for someone else. Especially if those feelings are not reciprocated. Although we cannot always be hung up on what Kishi says during interviews because he can't really give away a lot.

So what im trying to say is, how do we know our translations are correct and all the interviews on the internet are the biased translations?

It is sad to see that there are such things as "biased translations", and that there are translators that are known for their biased-ness. Usually I check the raw to see what it is actually saying. There is translating words, and then there is translating the meaning of the words. And there is also the fact that cultural context always has to be taken into consideration when there are translations as well. Idk if I answered your question at all haha.

I remember a looooooong time ago, there was an argument whether Sakura's words to Sasuke when he left the village was "I love you" or just merely saying "I (really) like you".

So what was it? I love you or like you? :P
By the way I am really curious.. I know she says suki [suki-date if we're going by what we hear] to Naruto. But what did she say to Sasuke?

She uses the same word "suki" if i remember correctly! Which of course means "like" but in both context it means love. The word for love is "ai" but usually suki is used because ai is very direct ^^. That is why there was a huge argument where people were like "Sakura doesn't love Sasuke, because she actually used the word LIKE". But it is not a good argument! Sakura definitely said she loved Sasuke at that time. That was what i was trying to say hahaha.

I have the raws if you're interested anyway. So I guess she used suki for both of them.

I am a bit confused... so.

On a hand I heard that it's this way... suki-daisuki-aishteru

On the other hand, I heard it's daisuki-aishteru-koishteru...

Suki means like

Daisuki as in an open relationship and aishteru as in commitment.

Now I heard the otherway around that koishteru is the one.

So which one is it in the end?!

suki means like

daisuki means really like (literally big like)

aikitteneru is "i love you". however japanese usually do not express love so openly and thats why the others are also used and translated as "love" as well. It is preferred to use suki/daisuki and can be translated as love, but literally means like.

can you send me the raw then? I can confirm xD

Japanese culture about love is totally different from ours.
好き (Suki) 大好き (Daisuki) 愛してる (Aikitteneru)

I can say that all these words cannot be translated properly in our langs. Anyway, These words can somehow mean "to like" or "to love".
Imho, I wouldn't translate the word "suki" as "to love" but "to like". I can use "to love" when I find "daisuki" or better "aikitteneru" (but the last one is rarely used, it's very very very strong. In fact in the manga the only one who used "aikitteneru" is Kushina to Minato and Naruto). Daisuki was been used by Hinata to Naruto. Sakura used "suki" with both Sasuke and Naruto.

in some contexts I agree with you but there are times I think suki can be translated to love. it depends!

Didn't sakura used daisuki with Sasuke? My memory is fading hahahaha it's been so long.

Koikitteneru, to me, sounds really weird hahaha. there is that term but..eh i would never use it, imo.

This is off topic, but my ex boyfriend (who was not japanese) used the term koikitteneru and it made me feel weird hahaha

well, 恋してる (Koikitteneru) (from 恋する, Koisuru) exist... But i wouldn't use it like aikitteneru o daisuki... Koikitteneru can be translated properly as "I'm in love". Usually it's also used by the one who has intention to pass his life with the loved one.

Anyway its' used in a different content.

Yes! I still think it is strange to use...I never like to use it myself.

恋する is to fall in love. it's for someone who is in love

when you use "ai", it is the act of loving.

I'm sorry this is out of topic a bit from Canadian DJ's questions ^_^" I hope you don't mind

About the biased translators, I hope that some translators aren't being biased about their tastes... Sometimes I'm a little hard with these people but maybe they do it in good faith. Japanese isn't an easy language and we can translating it as depends from our knowledge. I can say that this lang can be a troublesome even for the japaneses themselves!  We should be gratefully to all these people who translates chapter for us users, I'm talking obviously about  MangaPanda and Mangastream xD. If their version has some translating errors. well it's maybe that they have did it in good faith. I doubt strongly that these translators are hardcore fans of some pairings...
