700 BNP- speculative- Rikudo Senin dies. He choses the younger son as his heir- leading a to permanent rift between the brothers. Older son direct ancestor of Hyuuga and Uchiha clans, younger son direct ancestor of Senju and Uzumaki clans.

716 BNP- speculative- Younger son of Rikudo Senin born.

720 BNP- speculative- Older son of Rikudo Senin born

725 BNP- speculative- Rikudo Senin becomes first jinchuriki- the host for the Juubi.

Speculative- but overlaying real world modern cultural relations to history in both Japan and the west. Kishimoto looks to be working with this model too in Naruto. About 500 years back is as far as historical personages and events feel completely "real" to us. In the west that would be people like the Tudors and Shakespeare (Note the lasting intense fascination in the later 20th century- now in the Tudor family- from Henry VIII- Elizabeth, etc... but the fading in the 21st century cultural "realness" of Christopher Columbus, Henry VII, Richard III, the "lost princes in the tower", the War of the Roses between the houses of York and Lancaster, and even the intensely popular Joan of Arc. In Japan it's the later part of of the Sengoku Jidai and the rise of Oda Nobunaga that is real in the same way, the Onin Wars that start the Sengoku Jidai is fading in the same way the War of the Roses is in the West.) About 600 years back they begin to feel a bit too distant to relate to, and questions begin to be raised about how much is legend and how much is real. About 700 years back personages and events feel more legendary than real- such as the "Black Death" in Europe, we know it happened, but it is almost like a story to us. For the Japanese that would be the personages surrounding the Genkou War and fall of the Kamakura shogunate and the rise of the Ashikaga shogunate.

More Japanese history overlay- The Muromachi period (1331-1568) was a time of intense warfare in Japan, minor lords and daimyo fought near constant battles. The earlier part of the Momoyama period (1568- 1583) was nearly as bad as Nobunaga become a central power but as a brutal dictator- it led to more unrest and violent power struggles. Nobunaga's father (Nobuhide) was reportedly a benevolent leader. Nobunaga's poor reputation- he was already seen as a brutal and insane person even when he was young- and his grossly disrespectful behavior at his father's funeral led to the younger son Nobuyuki (who had a much better reputation and had been properly respectful at the funeral) being chosen by the majority as clan leader. This led to a six year battle between the brothers until Nobunaga killed his younger brother and took full control of the clan.

Kishimoto looks to have used this history in an altered way in Naruto's world, and moved back the time of the Rikudo Senin a bit further back, to Madara the time of the Rikudo Senin rise to power and death is just a bit over 600 years before, so to him it's much more real than it is to Kakashi, Yamato, or Naruto and his age peers. Kakashi calls the Rikudo Senin "just a legend", Jiraiya stands between Kakashi and Madara so the Rikudo Senin seems more real to him than it does to Kakashi, but less so than it does to Madara. It's sort of legendary to Jiraiya but he was inclined to believe it. It's not a legend to Madara, it's history.

I'm hoping Kishimoto will give us a definitive time frame (perhaps an approximate time frame with generations of a family like he did for the start of the Ino-Shika-Cho alliance) for the Rikudo Senin though so I can get a firmer marker of time. Madara is probably the only one alive that is old enough to give that reference though. I could see a circumstance where it could be stated- if he does bring about the next battle between Naruto and Sasuke he could make another reference to the "fated battle" and say how many generations back the older and younger brother of the Rikudo Senin are. (If my speculation is close it's going to be around 29-30 generations)

I'm a major history geek. (I geek on the many aspects of history probably more than any other subject.. So when I become a fan of story where a writer creates a history in their world, I get really excited and like to make chronologies. (The more indepth the history the better, and Kishimoto's is very indepth- particularly in part 2 of the manga.)

Tsunade was seen in Kakashi's flashback some time after the mission where Obito died but before the Kyuubi attack. My guess is they both may have been on missions at the time- Jiraiya close enough that he returned in time for Naruto's naming ceremony. Tsunade may have been gone with Shizune on a medical related mission. And I'm wondering if perhaps Tsunade, Shizune and Jiraiya together might have been the mystery people who cared for Naruto as an infant. Tsunade knew of Kushina's pregnancy and knew Minato was the father. She showed name recognition when she met Naruto the first time and Jiraiya stated his full name to Tsunade. My best guess is that the Uchiha massacre might be been the last straw for her, and she left with Shizune- bitter at the whole ninja system and believing she'd never return.

Orochimaru left sometime after Minato was chosen as Hokage, but apparently kept ties with Danzo. He also knew Naruto was the Kyuubi jinchuriki and knew about Naruto's seal developed by what Minato learned from Kushina... It was definitely some time after Anko became his Genin apprentice as we see the photo like image of Orochimaru with a young Anko amongst Hiruzen's memories...

EDIT: You forgot Oonoki & Ei's birth year. I think you also missed the year of Bee's sealing. And let's not forget Minato and Ei's encounter. And if you want to keep this objective, you might wanna add in Hinata's confession. Also, I think it would be better if you also included the ascension of the other Kages as well (Ei, Oonoki, Mei)

No, Jiraiya doesn't have his "oil" headband yet and we know he had it shortly before Naruto was born. Kakashi's face looks teenage not adult- it's softer than as an adult, pretty much identical to how his face looked the night Naruto was born. Kakashi became a Jonin at the start of the Gaiden, apparently switched over to the standard uniform right after the Gaiden, then became a member of ANBU shortly before Naruto was born.

I need to add that in since Kishimoto finally showed us pretty clearly just when Kakashi became ANBU. Kakashi's uniform isn't quite the same as a regular ANBU- He wears no animal mask, and his chest protection is longer and is more like a tabard than a vest, and his forearm protectors are metal bands rather a solid sheath, and he doesn't have the arm tattoo yet - must be the ANBU trainee uniform...

Still not quite sure how old Oonoki is, the text tends to lead to the conjecture he's a bit older than Koharu and Homura. It's only just been revealed he became Kage as a young man, but no solid age range- no image to even make an approximate range. I'm trying to lock down when Mei became Kage- it's been longer than Gaara, but appears to not been too long- perhaps shortly after Tsunade became Hokage- that seems to be the most logical placement. (what I'm going with anyway) Bee's becoming the Hachibi jinchuuriki was sometime shortly after he was five (from the recent flashback it looks like some time went by from the time he was picked to when he became the jinchuuriki. I'm trying to decide whether I should put it as the same year he was picked as Bee or the next year) . When Ei became Kage was just revealed during the recent flashback with Ei and Bee. An exact year isn't given but I can make an approximation based on how old Bee and Ei look, same with Minato's encounter with Bee (Minato's looks are a clue too with the last). I've actually been trying to figure out the Ei and Bee chronology since there is visual as well as verbal information- enough to make a fair guesses. It's a bit uncertain how much older Ei is than Bee, but I can make a guess from how he looks when Bee is 5.

Yep, she was there, at least until Shizune became a Jonin. Shizune did not become a Chunin until two years before Naruto was born. Shizune already had Jonin rank when Naruto met her and Tsunade. Shizune left the village with Tsunade. Kishimoto hasn't said even in the databooks when Shizune became a Jonin. We also know Tsunade was present in Konoha from the time Kushina was brought there until her adulthood. Upon their first meeting in part 1 Tsunade had a reaction when Jiraiya first told her Naruto's full name to her- showing she knew exactly who he was. Tsunade knew Naruto was Minato and Kushina's child and that he was the Kyuubi jinchuuriki.

Fairly well done- have a few chronology quibbles with it, but basically minor points. Only one that annoyed me a bit was that there's enough in the manga to make it clear Hashirama died before Tobirama. Hiruzen most likely became Hokage when he was around 22-23. (and apparently promptly grew his beard- likely to look more mature).

Not sure exactly when Minato became Hokage, but we know he was younger than Hiruzen was (Minato is referred to as the youngest to become Hokage), but we can see from his portrait (the Hokage portraits Tsunade looks at shortly after becoming Hokage) that he was still a bit more mature looking than Naruto is now- from the way Kishimoto draws, I'm going to guess 19-20. There's still a bit of the late teen build, rather than the adult build we see in the Kakashi Gaiden and the flashbacks when Naruto is born, but the face in his portrait looks more adult than Naruto's.
