It's about time. Kishi should have been done a long time ago.
The sad thing is that even though Kishi might be done with Naruto, it doesn't mean SP and SJ are not. I wouldn't be surprised if there will be a part 3 or more movies, just Kishi won't be involved. One thing is for certain though it's going to be crap with or without him.

Everything is more or less wrapped up despite the ending, so it makes sense that Kishi is drained. Gaiden made it clear that this series really has no juice left

I doubt the movie actually wrapped up anything and only had people asking more questions, like the Last did. But you're right that the series has no juice left and it's better that Kishi leaves it in the dust and lets it die, rather than dragging it out even further.
It's time Naruto ends for good and Kishi being done with it is a large step in that direction.

Well let's be honest here. This entire thing is part 3. The last two chapters, Gaiden and the movies are actually part 3. It's a different story that they told us is part of the previous one and we have to view it as part 2. But in reality it's just part 3.
Meaning that he won't continue part 3, but that doesn't mean people won't milk the kitten out of it.

Which I've told you - time and time again - is dangerous! There will never be consensus, son, among those you have helped to ascend. They will all differ in their views of what it means to be free. The peace you so desperately seek does not exist.
These men are united now by a common cause. But when this battle is finished they will fall to fighting amongst themselves about how best to ensure control. In time it will lead to war. You will see.

About time. Too bad he'll leave with the series in shambles.
Let it just be part of History.
-Naruto ending gets released-
Kishi: Honey, I’m home!

Even if SP did make a sequel, would fans consider it canon? I don't recall a lot of DB fans considering DBGT canon.

Right now the only way for the series to realistically continue would be with a FMA brotherhood style remake ending with NS and SK and with proper story and no or minimal filler.

Oh that is funny SP or SJ will never do that their Hinata would be hurt by this.

Kishimoto's failed in all but one aspect; and that is to sell his franchise.

Agreed. What major questions are left for the story to answer and where would it go without it stomping all over Naruto's accomplishments?

I don't consider the last half of part 2 and the last and Gaiden canon.

That would be awesome, but I doubt it's going to happen. Hell there wouldn't even to be any filler, except for the ending, but that depends on whether Kishi would be involved or not.
Still, a fresh start with a new studio that's not SP and a satisfactory ending? That would be so cool, especially if it can come anywhere near the greatness of FMA Brotherhood.

Won't you run, live to fly,
fly to live, Aces high

It depends on how well Gaiden and this movie and of course whatever comes after do.
